Nice stays some staff more friendly than others but most of them kind and happy !!! Beautiful room and delicious food…

Always fun to stay here. The historic charm makes up for the lack of an elevator or TVs in the room. Love the cozy fireplace library to settle in for some work or a glass of wine, and the dining room courtyard is one of the nicest places in town to eat in nice weather.

A lovely spot, booked two rooms and loved the quaint feeling. Delicious food and friendly staff. Great location

Although this lovely Victorian Inn is a landmark, guests should know that the structure has four floors but no elevator and no phones or televisions in the guest rooms.
The front desk ,and for that matter, the entire staff in the hotel and the restaurant are EXCEPTIONAL.

You get what you pay for. This is a 100 year old property with no elevator, no tvs and very rustic accommodations. Some might say charming, others might say shabby. It’s an old house so be prepared to hear your neighbors. The bar downstairs was definitely charming so I’d go for that but won’t stay again.

The people were great.
However, the shower didn’t have hot water. Since the place is so old (and beautiful!) it tends to be quite noisy - you’ll hear your neighbors walking, sneezing, using the bathroom.
Overall good, but next time I won’t be staying here.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Tabard Inn. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but I love the charm of an older Inn. My bed was super comfortable, the employees were all very nice, it was just lovely. The only thing I would say is there is no temperature control in the rooms (that I could find) and I found it quite hot but I just cracked a window. You can't beat the location!!!

We had stayed at the inn 40 years ago and shared fond memories. I enjoy the decor of the public spaces and the individually decorated rooms. The art is worth a tour! Dinner and breakfast were delightful.

A very charming and unique place. As I love Victorian antiques, it was a perfect fit for me. Also the restaurant was excellent.

Very special, classic, historical. Feels sort of European. Great common areas. My room looked like nothing had changed for decades. Layout was sort of awkward and bed was not all that comfortable. I still loved the place, though maybe next time I'll stay down the street at the new Courtyard by Marriott.

Delicious breakfast. Beautiful venue.

We loved our stay at the Tabard. Cozy, charming, eclectic inn. We had a 4th floor walk-up room. Hot water in tbe shower took quite a while. Almost felt like we were in Europe.
Convenient full-service bar and restaurant on the 1st floor. Food wasn't the best but we really appreciated having that available to us.
We look forward to our return.

Lovely, kind, helpful staff. They were gracious in helping us with luggage issues. The room was spacious and richly decorated to match the history of the hotel. The lounge was inviting and well designed for conversation over a night cap. The breakfast was excellent and abundant. The location is convenient for enjoying WDC. I would give more stars but the mattresses were almost unbearably hard, the room was bathed in light at night, and noisy pedestrians coming home invaded the room until 2:30 AM. Bring eatplugs and night/eye shades if you are a light sleeper. Maybe the hotel could offer these amenities to guests.

This hotel and its restaurant are quaint and quite good. The property is from the late 1800s and has a lot of charm. The restaurant has a fantastic brunch.

Horrible - big party next to me with loud drunks ruining my special trip with my daughter, I’ve called front desk and nothing can be done. I loved my trip here in January and soooooo disappointed with this one. Didn’t realize Tabard Inn was a college spring break motel.

This is an historic property with a wonderful restaurant and bar, cozy reading room with a fireplace, and conveniently located to Dupont Circle and walkable to the national mall/museums. Would stay here again!

It was a great place - very clean, and hospitable staff

The staff member at check in did not seem to care much about their job, but other front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Very difficult to regulate the temperatures in the room and the water in the shower, but otherwise a good experience. NOTE: not accessible, no elevator.

This hotel is a gem, not to mention its amazing restaurant, lounge, and bar. It has been a Washington, DC legend for decades. My room was so beautiful, high-ceilinged, spacious, furnished with old but comfortable sofas. The bathroom was old, a bit creaky, but functional and charming. I loved that it lacked a TV, phone, or radio. Look: this hotel is not for you if you seek the latest modern comforts. There are no elevators and there are some stairs to climb. Forget about a gym. What looks old and delightful to me might seem shabby to you. But if you seek peaceful, old-world coziness and charm, you will adore this hotel as much as I do. It is a DC treasure!

The old-school feel was truly welcoming, and the entire establishment has a classy air.

The property did not have an elevator so you had to carry your luggage up the stairs. For two days, we did not have hot water in the room.

If you are going to DC for a taste of history, this is the perfect stay! I loved my time here. I stayed during the winter which only made it better. The fireplace in the lobby bar added to the ambience and the seasonal-drink menu was spot-on. The beds were very comfortable and the vintage rainfall shower in a footed tub was also a bonus. A warning to those looking for modern luxuries: there is no elevator and there are no TVs in the rooms. However, it's not all period. The WiFi was perfect, so you can cheat and stream entertainment on your own devices. Location is great. I stayed on a weekend and found affordable parking in a nearby garage.

We loved our stay. We had a double room with private bath and it was very spacious. Large windows let in lots of natural light. Older Inn so no elevator, no TV, no thermostats in the room. Radiator heat was super warm. Enjoyed the restaurant downstairs for two delicious meals.

This is one of those reviews that I will struggle with. The staff was amazing. I was even stuck overnight in another city due to weather and they didn't charge me for that evening when I arrived the next day. Big chains would never do that. And had a wonderful cocktail at the bar and a great dinner at the restaurant, which is known for being excellent.
The room itself was a bit odd. Very large with a sitting area but very old world, including beds. Tiny tiny bathroom and a walk in closet with no lights. The outer door to hallway was a pocket door, but it did lock. And really dirty carpet in public walkways.
What I would say is that I could have hosted my own murder mystery dinner in my room! ha. Again, great service, but just an unusual stay experience.

Tub needs a stopper, music like a radio or CD player would be nice.

The Tabard is the most charming and helpful place to stay. The place is lovely and funky; the staff (who are all owners) are helpful and engaged; and the food is delicious.

Property doesn't accept phone payments like Apple or Google pay. That's major inconvinience

Charming mythical hotel in historic houses. Very nice… only negative thing is the very hard mattress. Otherwise, great. Thank you

It is an old hotel w lots of charm and a great location. Food at restaurant is a bit pricy I rate it 3+ stars. Breakfast is better than dinner

We loved this place. So much cooler than the same old same old hotel stay, reasonably priced, and conveniently located for just about anything in DC. Would recommend.

The hotel was a great throw back to the past with modern amenities; except you better be in a good shape to climb those narrow 1920’s stairs because there are no elevators. So if you’re on the 4th floor, that’s approx 50 Of them. Rooms are fantastical set up with furnishing designs from that era. Staff was very friendly and courteous. The only complaint I have was the mattress, it felt like sleeping on a floor board. Recommend to Stay there but not when you’re on a business trip.

Room was dark and dusty.

This is a wonderful classic property. The staff are amazing and welcoming and the rooms divine. Jazz in the bar in the evenings is so wonderful. If you want sterile rooms and TVs/microwaves dont stay here. If you want to slow down and enjoy the journey come here!

The oldest continually-operating hotel in DC, the Tabard Inn sometimes feels like it. The small bathroom and lack of usb outlets is more than made up for by the taseful accommodations, comfortable bed, and wonderful staff. The walk to the Dupont Circle metro stop is less than 5 minutes, there are a ton of good restaurants in the neighborhood, and attractions like the white house are within a walkable distance.
