Designed including a trove of historical touches embracing Highlands past! This inviting home is situated within a lovely area so close to town. Calming and enveloping you in its' peaceful setting. The perfect retreat for one couple with a precious living area and along with a private bedroom and bath, and while the guest house shares property with the homeowners who may or may not be home during your stay, you will be provided abundant privacy! With a custom built kitchenette including a toaster, microwave, coffee maker, mini fridge and sink you have everything you need to prepare small meals and snacks. You will be warmed by a decor that makes you want to snuggle in and never leave. Flatscreen tv and a great seating area for games and puzzles ensure time well spent even on rainy or cold days inside. Located within close distance of Main Street Highlands, NC, you are minutes from gourmet restaurants and shopping and only a few short minutes to the Highlands Outpost, Highlands Aerial Park (Zipline and Mountain Top Adventures), The Vineyard at High Holly and Bella's Junction. This retreat will transport you to another place and time, far from the stresses of life and wrap you in nature featuring countless trilliums and abundant native wildflowers and rhododendrons. Wee Highlander with its delightful furnishings, & outdoor seating with fire table, will offer you the opportunity to reconnect with your partner, enjoy a solo sojourn or just relish in a peaceful escape to the mountains. One small dog under 25 pounds allowed with pet fee. There is one parking space available. There is a full sized refrigerator and a washer and dryer below the unit should you need them . We recently stayed in the suite at Mirror Lake in Highlands, NC, and we had an absolutely wonderful experience. The suite is located in the peaceful and quiet Mirror Lake area, just a short walk from the town of Highlands. The suite was spacious and beautifully appointed, with a comfortable bed, plush towels, and a fully equipped kitchenette.

We booked our trip based upon the abundant privacy the listing screams. In the original listing it said nothing about this being a guest cottage and there were no pictures of the owners house 10ft away from our rental. The homeowners were home and really enjoying the outside that weekend so it made it tough for us to enjoy the abundant privacy knowing someone was 10-30 ft from you at any time. We spent a lot of time downtown highlands and hiking to the falls. Beautiful area for sure. On our last day I’m assuming the homeowners house shares the washer and dryer that is located under the guest cottage. Well nothing like waking up on your last day to a washer and dryer running on your super private vacation. Wake up call I’m guessing. Although the listing seems to have a revised description from the original it still zeros in on this abundantly private getaway and that is so far from the truth I’m shocked it is still in there. Overall the cottage was fairly nice. We did experience some large jumping crickets in the cottage on day one. I informed Holly and we were told that they were perfectly normal in this area and can just slip right under any door around. Holly did offer us to check out early with a refund on her fees but no refund on the nightly rental so really not much help. When she asked me how she could fix this I simply asked for her to make the listing description reflect what you are really getting when you rent here. Again the place is fairly nice but zero privacy.

This property is misrepresented on both Expedia and VRBO with the Location to Town, Restaurants and What's Nearby. Showing in Town with a 2 minute to 4 minute walk to everything is not correct. It is approximately 1.5 - 2 miles from town, restaurants, etc. You are not able to safely walk to town with the narrow streets and traffic. The street itself (Wynaoak Dr.) is around 10ft wide, so it is not possible for 2 vehicles to pass by each other. Parking at the property will be difficult if the other home there is occupied. There is enough room for 2 small vehicles or 1 full size vehicle like my F150 truck. This place is about the size of a hotel room, (maybe 400 sq. ft.) and is not 800 sq. ft. as advertised. It is nicely done, pretty much brand new inside, it is simply not as advertised.
