About this house rental

Perched amongst the treetops on a hillside above the city, this property is like nowhere else you've ever stayed. A private paradise, this spacious, stylish treehouse offers stunning views across the city from sun- soaked decks and expansive living areas. Close to the city but feeling miles away, relax in the peaceful surroundings while native birdsong surrounds you and expansive views give you a different vista every day. Please note we are unable to host anyone under the age of 21. Guest accommodation is the entire property - a two-storey architecturally-designed treehouse set on a hillside above the city. Light, bright and spacious with amazing views, the house provides plenty of space for even large groups to relax in comfort and style. There are four large, sunny bedrooms (1 King bedroom with ensuite upstairs and 3 Queen bedrooms downstairs), multiple living areas, modern full-size kitchen and recently renovated bathroom plus two separate toilets and a laundry. It's an upmarket, unique and comfortable home with plenty of space for larger groups or extended family. With two large heatpumps, bedroom heaters, double-glazing and extensive insulation, the house is warm and cosy on even the coldest Canterbury days. We're also perfectly positioned for sunshine so often the heating isn't needed even in the middle of winter - and we generate most of our power through solar panels on the roof. The large, modern kitchen includes extra-large 90cm oven (enough space for a Christmas turkey!), convection cooktop, large stainless steel fridge/freezer, dishwasher and plenty of appliances including 4-slice toaster, sandwich press and microwave/airfryer. There’s a spacious open-plan upstairs living area with 55” Smart TV, soundbar and subwoofer plus a separate second TV room downstairs with another 50” Smart TV - perfect for larger groups wanting to watch different things! The house has decks, pergolas and lots of sunny outdoor spaces. Even though it's so close to town, guests tell us that it feels wonderfully secluded and peaceful. The unique setting also leads to safety hazards (open waterways, trip hazards, high walkways, etc), so we cannot accommodate anyone under the age of 21. As parts of the property are steep and slippery we do ask guests to note any “no entry” signs for their own safety as well as the protection of growing plants and nesting birds. There is space for two cars on the parking deck. It is recommended that guests reverse onto the cardeck. Please do not park on the driveway as this is difficult to navigate and blocks entry to the house. Guests have access to the full house with no spaces shared with anyone else. There are also plenty of outdoor spaces to sit and enjoy the surroundings, however some parts of the garden are restricted for safety reasons and for protection of wildlife so please note any signs indicating restricted areas. There are plenty of cafes, shops and restaurants in the neighbourhood, with cyclist favourite Zeroes cafe just a couple of minutes' walk away. Otherwise it's an easy walk into the city. There's cycling, hiking, and mountain biking routes galore. Christchurch Adventure Park, the Crater Rim walkway, Sign of the Takahe restaurant and the Old Stone House are all in the neighbourhood and it's just over the hill to Governor's Bay, Lyttelton, Cass Bay and all that Banks Peninsula has to offer. Within driving distance is Mount Hutt for skiing or snow adventures, Akaroa for unique French culture, Waipara wine region or Hanmer Springs for nature, hiking and thermal hot springs. Easy access to public transportation (bus, taxi, Uber/Ola and even Lime scooters for the adventurous). Plenty of cafes and shops in the neighbourhood and easy walking distance to the city as it's very flat (apart from Cashmere) and nothing is too far away. Upper floors are accessible via stairs only We have a security camera on the front of the house for our guests' peace of mind. There are also a few cameras in the gardens to monitor wildlife in the area. These are not monitored but recordings can be retrieved if needed. There are no cameras inside the house. Unfortunately, due to host allergies we are unable to accommodate any pets (including assistance animals). We live in a quiet, residential neighborhood so have a strict no-parties rule and we request that guests are conscious of noise after 10pm and before 7am. We have strict rules in place to ensure a peaceful stay for all guests and neighbours. Please refrain from making loud noise outside between the hours of 10pm and 7am. If you are unable to comply with this rule, we kindly ask that you do not book with us. Additionally parties or gatherings are not allowed, any unauthorised gatherings will result in immediate cancellation with no refund. Check out time is 10am and late checkouts must be requested 24hours in advance. Smoking is prohibited inside the property and any damages or extra cleaning caused by smoking or pets will result in a $200 fee. We expect the house to be left in a reasonable condition and any additional cleaning required will be charged at $60 per hour. Any damages, spills or stains must be reported and may result in a charge for replacement or cleaning. Additional house rules: 1. Please take shoes off inside the house 2. Please keep noise to a minimum after 10pm 3. Please don't eat in the bedrooms 4. Please do not turn off the Wi-Fi as this affects the operating systems off the house including Solar panels and sceptic systems We sincerely appreciate your understanding of these House Rules. They really help us to keep the place clean, tidy and peaceful.
