Très déçue par la chambre

La gentillesse et l'amabilité du personnel, petit déjeuner avec produits de qualité, simple mais très bon rapport qualité /prix.

La chambre très minimaliste!!! Simplicité extrême ,pas du tout cosy. Vue sur la route nationale du balcon. Propreté impeccable, draps froissés, non repassés assez surprenant pour cet établissement.

This hotel is in a great position for travelling from Spain. The restaurant is pricey, but fantastic food. staff are all very friendly. The hotel is also very dog friendly and a short walk from the beach.

Happy Anniversary Darling

Leaving! To be fair, the hotel was pleasant and spotlessly clean. The rooms were light, airy and stylish. The room was pleasantly warm. The night porter kindly found me an umbrella as I needed to walk our dog.

We were travelling a long distance from the Algarve to Cherbourg and decided to stay here as it looked to be a lovely hotel with a Michelin starred restaurant. It was an anniversary and we thought we would make the stop into a special occasion. Surprise surprise, it was a Tuesday and the restaurant was shut! ("Welcome to France" I hear you say). Never mind and we asked the reception staff for a recommendation for a nice restaurant that we could walk to. Usually reception staff in a good hotel would pick up the phone and make a reservation for us. Not here. Armed with two recommendations we set off on foot down a long hill towards the beach passing several closed restaurants on the way. 1200 meters later we got to the beach and there was not one bar or restaurant in the place open! We managed to find a Spar shop to buy some food for the room. The time was 1645 hrs but even the Spar shop was shut. I was more than slightly tired and hacked off by this stage and went to speak with the reception staff and related our experience. I was told "Well it is January, what do you expect?" I pointed out that be that as it may be, people still have to eat!! I cancelled breakfast for the following day as I didn't wish to give anything more to this hotel than necessary. Back in November we were in the Dordogne and asked when a particular restaurant was going to open? April came the reply!! Again, to be fair to this hotel, this review really reflects our feelings about Guethary and, indeed, much of France at this time of the year. I've no doubt that our reviews, had we actually been able to buy so much as a sandwich, would have been five star but service does not appear to be the strong point of our neighbours.

Great value accommodation with a gourmet restaurant next door - what’s not to like!

Great location. Family run with swift efficiency. Seriously impressive restaurant and service adjoining the hotel.High standard but was a bit too formal for me, especially dining alone after a long journey. Will aim for lunch next time.

The wine list and book, as impressive as it was belongs to a Harry Potter movie! I’m sure the cellar is impressive but my selection aided by a very “dynamic” female sommelier was really over structured as an accompaniment to the amazing food. Also expensive and you could easily spend more on a bottle than what you’re paying for the room! However I understand that they’re two separate businesses run by the same family. I was surprised that after I ordered my wine, I wasn’t asked if I liked it ( only the red) Sommeliers are usually very interested in feed-back. The young restaurant staff were all excellent but please let them relax a little more and encourage the odd smile!

Perfect from start to finish.

A perfect establishment for a luxury stay at affordable prices. The meals, breakfast and dinner, were outstanding in quality and inventiveness. The whole place is spotlessly clean and full of fragrant smells..

Very nice stay

Very friendly staff. Hotel is fresh and clean. Various options for breakfast and very nice bistro in the evening. At walking distance from seaside.

Not really a negative comment, but maybe a bit unfortunate that the bathroom of our room missed the renovation. The room was very beautiful, so would be nice if the bathroom was looking accordingly. But nevertheless, the bathroom was super clean!

Wonderful short break and we cannot wait to repeat!

The restaurant is out of this world with beautifully presented dishes and the tastes were sensational. Breakfast was a case of "less is more" because unlike many hotels, it didn't have a huge array of mass produced breakfast foods, but a choice selection of well thought out options, many of which were produced in-house, including the yoghurt (delicious) and jams/marmalades. Staff were always very pleasant and friendly.

A stop over on a long journey

Very good location for travelling from Calais to Spain. Dog friendly, with private car park

No bar or restaurant were open when we stayed on Tuesday, but we were aware of that before the stay

Would definitely return to this property

The staff were exceptional, throughout the property, extremely attentive to guests' needs. The two restaurants give some flexibility in dining over several days, the food being of very high standard with an excellent wine selection.

While functional and clean, the bathrooms need an update.

Restful and beautiful place

We loved this hotel. It is quiet, clean and comfortable with a friendly staff. But the highlight was really the food. Both the breakfast and the dinner at the restaurant were outstanding. We will definitely stay there again.

Highly recommend

Late arrival after long journey. Staff were great, got us into bistro without reservations and extremely helpful with everything . Food was amazing, wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely return.

Limited parking. Lift was old, hard to hold door open.

After a long journey, this was an excellent stopover en route to other destinations in France.

Hotel staff was very welcoming. The room was good especially the bed. After a long drive from Portugal, we enjoyed a gourmet meal (served in the room due to covid restrictions) and and excellent night's sleep. Breakfast was average, and again served in the room.

A pity the Michelin star restaurant was closed due to government regulations, but we still enjoyed the meal served in the room.

A Visit to Remember

Hotel Briketenia is a great example of warm hospitality in the Pay Basque area south of Biarritz. The hotel has super comfortable beds, is extremely clean and well decorated, has nicely updated bathrooms, and offers free parking on the property. Breakfast was a real treat with a wide range of choices. To make things better, the Briketenia Restaurant, a Michelin Star restaurant, is adjacent to the hotel and serves top quality meals at a reasonable price.....really enjoyed this dining experience. This was a special experience and I hope to return for a future visit.

There may be something to not like in my visit, but I don't know what that would be. Only thing I can think of is the visit was too short.
