Everything about our stay was exceptional. The wine and cheese at social hour was a nice way to end the day and the breakfasts served were incredible. I even had a request for another breakfast items due to a food allergy and my request was quickly honored.
Dan gave us several tips on what to see on our trip into Acadia and where to stop to see the most impressive scenery. Most of what Dan recommended was not on our radar and without his input, we would have missed some amazing views and experiences.
As it was the end of the season, you could tell that there was some maintenance issues that needed to be addressed during the off season but nothing that effected our stay in anyway.

We had a fantastic time with Joan and Dan! They were fantastic hosts. The breakfast was amazing, the cocktail hour was fun with great live music from Dan. Dan also has an immense knowledge of Acadia which helped us greatly navigating the amazing National Park!
Too bad the hot tub was closed!!

The location was great. It's right near Main Street and quite a bit south of the harbor, the end of Main Street really, which makes it convenient for parking and within walking distance of many restaurants and the harbor if you like a good walk.
The host, Dan, is generous in explaining the sites in town, history and Arcadia and surrounding areas.
I wanted to like this inn a lot, I really did. It was unfortunately too outdated even allowing that the period furniture was appropriate. The appointments like air conditioning, TVs, room layout, bathrooms were not current or well maintained. Bedding not up to standards, and breakfast was not very good, although fun to dine with fellow travellers. It would have been better to have a few continental breakfast items as an alternative choice to the (not very well) prepared food. The building overall is fine in design, size and location, but way too disorganized, messy and dusty to really like or feel good. The bathroom in the Garden room has a very large walk-in shower, but the maintenance and condition was poor.

beautiful home with helpful hosts! delicious breakfast and cheese in the evening.
we’re young and able so this wasn’t a big deal for us except our heavy suitcases but there were a lot of stairs to our room.

The rooms were clean, spacious, and so beautiful. We loved being so close to Acadia National Park for hiking. We loved being able to walk to restaurants and the harbor each night for dinner.

To have stayed longer.

The hosts, Joan and Dan, were very warm, welcoming, friendly, and helpful.
Breakfast was delicious!
Liked that the location was far from the busy section of Main Street and yet close enough to walk to.
Comfy B&B: wish we could have spent more time in the common areas.
Too bad the hot tub was not in operation - one reason for the booking was this amenity, so that was disappointin. Pool was good, but not warm enough
We stayed in the Marble Room. Bathroom could use a bar to hang a hand towel and a hook to hang a robe.

Beautiful Inn, clean and comfortable, walking distance from town.
Few spots to park except on street. No one to greet you except by phone, though they had it setup to self check-in. Room had beautiful furniture but too much. I expected a sit down B&B type of breakfast but was delivered pancakes at my door with no place to sit down to eat it, and I had to make my own coffee with a lousy Kuerig coffee maker.

Beautiful setting and decor in North Apartment of Carriage House, loved wine and cheese with evening entertainment by host, extra futon bed comfortable for a couple with bedding provided, kitchen facilities useful, great location in Bar Harbor with very convenient entrance to Acadia NP following tips from our host!!

Not included. Location was good--within walking distance of center of town.
Our room was a suite but it was of much lower quality than main building. It was poorly decorated and cobbled together with the same price tag as main building rooms. Disappointed with room.

The property is located less than mile (easy walk) to the harbor, with ample parking. We rented the apartment unit which is very comfortable and spacious. Kitchen is well appointed.

We were the only guests excluded from breakfast!
Besides no breakfast, the innkeeper was very unpleasant to my wife when checking in. Bed sheets were a dark blue print that was awful as were the throw pillows-cheesy!

Very comfortable and beautiful cottage. The host was very friendly and provided great info on Acadia park. Walking distance to shops and restaurants in Bar Harbor

Kitchen + minifridge were convenient. Having two bathrooms is good. Location is good. Private entrance is nice too.
The room clearly hasn't been maintained. Walls have holes and peeling paint -- need to be spackled and painted. There were cobwebs and spiders in every corner -- one spider even made its way into my baby's stuff. Thick layers of dust on the baseboards, blinds, and lamps; hair, litter, and dead bugs on the floor. Overall, a gross experience.

Dan and Joan were very engaging and helpful with recommendations from restaurants to hiking trails.

It was close to town.
Needed a little cosmetic work. Didn't like the parking.

The ability to have our rooms close to one another, and all connected, made a huge difference. Having a full kitchen allowed us to cook and enjoy meals at the Inn. The wine & cheese each evening was a nice bonus, and Dan's music and singing entertainment was enjoyable. The privacy we had at one end of the Inn was great. The spa bath in the Strawberry Hill Room was great! Loved the seating area in the Abbott Suite.
Only one of our three rooms offered complementary breakfast which made our morning meal plans as a group more difficult. The cost was relatively high compared to other Inns in Bar Harbor, and for the cost, breakfast should've been included for all three rooms. The bed in the Strawbery Hill Room was extremely bouncy.

Great location and great owners! We had great time at the Chiltern Inn!

Location was very good - close to the park. Pretty property.
The hosts don't really seem interested in hosting. Don't greet you at arrival (leave an envelope). No plans for guests who need a quick breakfast to get to Acadia early. No fresh baked goods - really expected at a small Inn.

breakfast was delicious. Staff very helpful with sightseeing ideas.
Need to serve ice water with breakfast. Also, need to serve a meat with the pancakes, like bacon or sausage.

Great location for exploring Acadia. Host very helpful in providing insider hiking information. Evening wine and cheese provides opportunity to talk with other guests and host about local restaurants and activities.
Nothing.
