Oak Bluffs! Close to everything! Updated in 2023! Booking fast!!!
About this house rental
Nestled in Tisbury, this charming house for $357 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. This home was updated in 2023! Beautiful detached 2 bedroom within walking distance to the center of Oak Bluffs. The exterior includes a large wrap around deck, terrific screened in porch, 2 car parking pad and a private outdoor shower. It offers a fully renovated kitchen with tiled granite counters, new flooring, gas stove/oven, stacked washer/dryer (HE detergent only!) and a small eat-in area. New full bath with a full sized bathtub and tiled tub surround. Living room with original refinished pine floors, new sofa with queen memory foam pull out, flat screen tv, dvd player with dvd's, high-def cable television and small sitting area. The 2nd floor offers two bedrooms both having places to hang clothes per tenants feedback requests. The 1st bedroom has a vaulted ceiling, brand new king Casper hybrid bed, dresser, flat screen tv and cable television. The 2nd bedroom has a single bed with 2nd pull out trundle style single bed, flat screen tv, dresser and cable television. Regardless of updates this is still a smaller old classic Marthas Vineyard home. It is also our home. If you want something brand new or perfect I suggest a hotel. If you want something close to town, well cared for, comfortable and a true Marthas Vineyard experience this is the place for you! We have many repeat guests who love it as much as we do. Please consider the stairs to the upper level are original and a bit steep. Also the ceiling heights in some areas are lower than new construction. I am 6'1" and have no issues (Low spots are living room 6'8 1\2", small bedroom and hallway 6'6" and sloped ceiling at bath sink 6'6"). Also both bedrooms only have 1 window with AC units. They can be run on AC for cooling or fan to allow outside air into these rooms. Oak Bluffs: The Town of Oak Bluffs is a resort town on the northeast shore of the island of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. Oak Bluffs is home to many historical and nationally recognized landmarks including the Flying Horses Carousel which is the nation's oldest operating platform carousel. Oak Bluffs operates the largest marina on Martha's Vineyard, which not only has the most slips, but is situated in the midst of the historic gingerbread campgrounds, and offers easy access to the rest of the Island. 'OB', as it is sometimes referred to, also is home to several beautiful public beaches, a teaming shore of wildlife, fish and shellfish, fabulous public parks, a golf course and even a microbrewery. Today, an active downtown is complete with exciting restaurants, charming inns, shops, and galleries, a variety of specialty food shops, movie theaters, and places to enjoy live entertainment and dancing. Oak Bluffs has a new fishing pier that was completed for the 2014 season and the new seawall and boardwalk from the ferry to the marina opened in 2016. There is also a bowling alley/entertainment center and a brand new walking path around Sunset Lake. Circuit Avenue improvements are underway with new wider sidewalks and upgrades. Cleaning: Our cleaners are utilizing one man/woman crews to limit how many people are in the home. They are practicing Covid protocols and fully sterilizing the home. Laundry/Linens: Linens are not provided. Each bed has a protective cover and pillow with protective cover. (DUE TO COVID19 BLANKETS ARE NOT PROVIDED THIS YEAR). There are linen services that can service the property. They can deliver and pick up linens to the home if needed. There is Takemmy Linen Rental and Marthas Linen Rental. Takemmy does not have blankets so use Marthas if you also need blankets. The linens we recommend are: (King bedroom)- A king sheet/bedroom set, blanket, two king pillows and two standard pillow cases. (Single bedroom)- A single sheet/bedroom set, blanket and one standard pillow case plus a second single sheet/bedroom set, blanket and one standard pillow case if using the trundle bed. (Sofa bed)- A queen sheet/bedroom set, blanket and one standard pillow case if using the sofa bed. (Other)- Towels, wash cloths and maybe beach towels/blanket. Fantastic week on MV! If you’re looking to escape the main land and want an authentic Martha’s Vineyard getaway for 2-3 people, this is the place.
It features a cozy kitchen with every kind of cooking appliance you could hope for, toaster, toaster oven, air fryer, slow cooker etc… Laundry is brand new here too!
Living room is also comfortable with a nice couch and plenty of other seating.
Upstairs is a little tight but the king size bed is very comfortable.
Outside, there’s a great screened in porch with a large wrap around deck, grill and shower.
It’s a very short walk to downtown Oak Bluffs and ginger bread cottage camp.
Owners had great communication before, during and after our stay.
We can’t wait to return next year!

This small home was even better than expected: The bedrooms were cozy and we all slept soundly (teens loved the bed/trundle duo), and summer school and a bit of work was made less painful by good wifi. Proximity to town and beach were great, and we did a fair amount of cooking and enjoyed the outdoor patio and screened-in lounge area (calling it a "porch" kind of doesn't do it justice.) Outdoor rainfall shower was the perfect way to wind down. I really appreciated Jim's helpfulness and we can't wait to try to get back!

Jim is a wonderful human being. I truly couldn't ask for a better time out in Martha's Vineyard, as I had staying at this property. This lovely, cozy home added to my wonderful vacation on the Vineyard. My ENTIRE family LOVED it! The outside shower is a PURE delight! 🚿 The property is walking distance to the town. It is so near to the wonderful town in Oak Bluffs where everything is happening. What's so wonderful about its location is, although it's so near to town, it's in a quiet, quaint part of Oak Bluffs where I so enjoyed the tranquility of simply walking down the road and down the hill into town... I couldn't ask for a better housing experience.

Me & my Hubby stayed in this Cute & Quaint Cottage. The back yard provides tranquility to sit relax read or have a few guess over for a BBQ in a quiet area would love to stay there again when we come back.

Overall, this place was a great stay in Oak Bluffs. The house has a lot going for it - incredible outdoor space (Adirondack chairs! covered and screened in porch! dining table! awesome grill! huge outdoor shower!), and a very well stocked kitchen (we cook a LOT and had all the tools we needed). The house is clean and well maintained. The location is good, you're about a 10 minute walk from the harbor, a 20 minute walk to beaches (Inkwell or Jetty), and 5 minutes from the cottages. The neighborhood is quiet and away from the hub-bub of Circuit Ave.
A few things I wished I knew before I went - The upstairs is just the two bedrooms, each have one window. Both windows have AC units in them. This means that there's no way to get fresh air on the second floor, which got very stuffy, even in June. It was 60 degrees outside and we were still running the AC. Also, the trundle twin bed is a bit too big for the bedroom. When it's pulled all the way out, you can't open the door (or you can block it open). You have to push it back in a little (just a few inches) for the door to be operable. Finally, we had to stock our own toilet paper and garbage bags. This isn't a big deal, just something I wish I had known in advance. And tenants aren't allowed to leave anything behind, so you have to buy absolutely everything you need.
Overall, a great stay! The landlord was super helpful, communicative, and accessible if I needed anything. They clearly care about their space a lot. We had a great time!

Where to start...The place is moldy so if you have allergies you will be sneezing a lot, etc. Everything we brought back smelled like mildew and had to be laundered.
We have been renting summer homes for 30+ years and have never seen so many tenant instructions and signs. You would think that if the landlord is so wary of the septic and other damage either do not rent your place or plan on pumping the septic out more often.
It was cold while we were there - heat had been turned off. Thankfully we brought warm coats which we wore inside.
The house is VERY small. Cozy here means minuscule bedrooms and very low ceilings. 5'3" person can touch ceilings with extended arm.
Here is just a small sampling of the unusual instructions:
It is ill-advised to go outside barefoot (sign telling you possibility of splinters and nails). pls note: no yard -decking both sides and back of house.
Ant issue, (clean up ALL CRUMBS)
Limit the amount of toilet paper you use (old septic).
We fell sorry for parent who are expected to monitor all this on vacation PLUS the stairs would be difficult for young children and the elderly to navigate.
There are many posted signs in the kitchen, here is a sampling: Not one but 3 -"do not put hot items on counter"
"do not pour grease down drain"
"No Smoking"
"Please make sure storm door is completely closed"
"Do not move grill". While we are on the subject of the grill, if propane runs out YOU are expected to refill at your own expense providing propane for yourself and the rest of the renters - instructions on where to go to refill and the cost - $30
The list goes on and on.
We have rented older homes before but have never seen anything like this before with the landlord's # of posted signs and expectations - many of them a first for us in the 30+ years we have been summer home renters.
This is only the 2nd time we have ever written a negative review in our many years of summer rentals.
Martha's Vineyard is a charming place and fortunately we were able to separate the less than stellar rental experience and weird landlord with all his signs and expectations from our overall experience of the Inland.

The property was in terrible condition. Check in was 3 pm the cleaner wasn’t done until 345 pm. The chair cushions in the kitchen had brown stains all over them. The outdoor shower curtain was ripped and torn down. There were dirty gloves in the outdoor shower. The mattress pad on the king bed had a large yellow stain. The pillows on the couch are ripped and multiple stains on the couch. The acs were dirty we had to clean the filters the first night. We left after one night even though we booked the place for a week as the property was dirty. Very disappointed.

We stayed at "About Time" to celebrate my sister's 60th birthday. The listing was perfectly described and completely accurate so there were no surprises upon arrival. The outdoor space and screened in porch were amazing for night time relaxation and catching up. We really did not spend a lot of time indoors, we were either at the beach or exploring the Vineyard. Being able to walk to Oak Bluffs was excellent. People had the option of staying out or going home in the evenings. All around the Vineyard people were observing social distancing guidelines and wearing masks in public which was highly reassuring.
I would definitely return to "About Time."

The cottage was clean and exactly as advertised. The kitchen was well-stocked. The beds were extremely comfortable, I never wanted to leave. The location was perfect, quiet neighborhood but close to the beaches and shopping and restaurants. I wouldn't hesitate to book here again if we decide to vacation on The Vineyard. I can't tell you enough how comfortable the cottage was, it felt just like home. We were extremely happy. Thank you for everything.

Great house in a great location!
Our family had a great experience! The house is a quaint house on a quiet street, but is within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and beaches. This made a diet of local donuts and lobster rolls very doable. We spent most of our time at the house on the back deck and screened in patio. We loved our week and will definitely be back!

Martha's V. bigger than we thought
The house was just perfect for a couple. Easy walk to downtown. Quiet neighborhood. Only problem, my fault, was that I failed to read that no linens were provided. The owner helped us get sheets and we had beach towels.

Perfect Summer Cottage
We absolutely LOVED your cottage. It was exactly what I expected and then some. We walked or road our bikes into town everyday. The outdoor shower was INCREDIBLE! The location was great and the neighborhood was even better. Look forward to staying again in the future.....THANKS for a wonderful visit.

Charming and perfectly located!
This cottage was charming and perfectly located – tucked away in a quiet neighborhood yet close enough to easily walk or bike to the center of Oak Bluffs. And no need to bring reading material – the Oak Bluffs Library, located right around the corner from the cottage, has a great collection of books and movies.
The cottage was very cozy, clean and well maintained. As this was our first time renting here, I brought some cookware and utensils, just in case, however, the kitchen was well-appointed and had everything we needed. The wrap around deck provided a lovely area to sit and read. There were no surprises – we found everything about the cottage to be just as the owner described it.
Most days we spent at Joseph Sylvia State Beach, a lovely beach with lots of parking only 15 minutes by car from the cottage. Evenings were spent either watching movies at the house or walking down to the town center to have dinner at one of the many restaurants, do some shopping, and watch the sunset. Oak Bluffs, with its charming gingerbread houses, gorgeous gardens, and soft pastel sunsets, was beyond picturesque! This was a lovely vacation. Next year I plan to come for two weeks!

Perfect little house!
We spent two weeks in this lovely little house and enjoyed every minute. We have been spending summers on the Vineyard for twenty years and have stayed in many cottages. The outdoor space was probably the nicest of all of them. The cottage is clean, comfortable and cute! We will be back for two -- or even three -- weeks! Thanks!

Perfect getaway, great location, top-notch!
My wife and I honeymooned on the Vineyard and stayed at this wonderful home. It was perfect - we were able to run down to breakfast in the morning, walk to Oak Bluffs shops, and then relax in the comfy living room and wonderful rear deck. The home was the epitome of comfortable. It is in wonderful condition, and the street/neighborhood is whisper-quiet. We are already discussing when we can return, as Martha's Vineyard is just plain fantastic and this home only adds to the experience.
It is also worth mentioning the owners are very, very helpful and clearly cherish their home. If I could give six stars, I would!
