About this house rental
We are big fans of the "under promise, over deliver" mentality. Therefore, you will find no stretched pictures in this listing (i.e. no square refrigerator or oddly rectangular oven to make the kitchen look bigger than it actually is), what you see is - at least - what you get. Our beautiful home is located in South Nags Head, NC 27959 - mile post 21 - just north of the national seashore and near the Oregon Inlet where the great fishing spots are. It is a Grateful Dead themed house and is a perfect place for those who want to escape the crowded northern beaches to be in a more relaxed carefree area without having to drive an extra hour to Avon or Salvo, plus the beaches are dog friendly in Nags Head (at some of the other beaches, no dogs are allowed on the beach during the day in the summer). Further, linens are included (just bring beach towels) and there is a beach kayak for you to use at your own risk. About Stella Blue OBX: The home offers 4 bedrooms (2 with king beds, 1 with a queen bed, and another with a trundle - full over twin). All rooms have either a sound and/or beach view). There are 2 large bathrooms inside (one bathroom has both a shower and a tub) and there is also an outdoor shower. The beds are very comfortable and there are TVs in every room with Fubo and Wi-Fi. Other Features: The kitchen has a wet bar (a second sink with a drink refrigerator underneath it). It is large, open, and is fully stocked (wine keys, oyster knives, Kitchen Aid stand mixer, Kitchen Aid blender, Cephalon and Hexclad pots and pans, electric knife sharpener, coffee bean grinder, french press, and all the other stuff you'd expect). The house has gorgeous tile and hardwood on the main floor and carpet on and upstairs; the entire home was renovated in 2017 and we continuously improve/reinvest into our home very year. We are non-smokers with extremely firm rules to not smoke inside the house. Not only do we rent our home through VRBO, this is our personal vacation home - we're really lucky to only live a few hours away so we are able to visit the house at least monthly to make sure this house stays up to our high standards. Other extras include a vintage video game table (with games like Dig Dug, Packman, and Donkey Kong), board games, 9 holes of outdoor putt putt, and an outdoor pool table so there is something here for everyone!

A dear friend is a lifelong Grateful Dead fan. So, we decided to surprise him with Stella Blue. While he was thrilled, so too was everyone else. We had many delicious meals together and lots of time on the beach. One person went on a deep sea fishing trip, and we all ate sushi and wasabi.
Stella Blue is beautifully provisioned. It was cozy and playful. We are so grateful for the experience.

Cool Grateful Dead decor, nice stereo, good location between beach road and quiet street. Putt-putt, pool table, and cornhole under the house provide for fun, especially if you get bad weather for the beach. Roomy, and well-stocked kitchen. Perfect for our family, although one more bathroom would be a nice touch.

This is the best beach house we have ever rented, and we have been coming to the Outer Banks for decades! Sparkling clean, beautiful decor, wide and uncrowded beach, dog friendly, and so much fun. Our entire family enjoyed the mini golf and pool table in the evenings with festive lighting and music. Our dogs loved the fenced in area to enjoy the outdoors. We just can’t say enough about the owners and their attention to every detail! Highly recommend Stella Blue for a perfect summer getaway.

We had the best time at Stella Blue. The kitchen is huge and well stocked. Lots of baby supplies including full size crib and a chair. This was so helpful since we had our grand baby with us. The Grateful Dead theme was awesome. We especially enjoyed the 9 hole putt putt course under the house. Thank you!

This vacation house was amazing. Super short walk to the beach and numerous things to do when you get back including a pool table and mini golf. The kitchen is fully equipped and everything you could possibly need is there for you and organized. Tons of outdoor space to relax. Can’t wait to stay again!

We will ALWAYS choose Stella Blue!!
Once again, Stella Blue was the perfect choice for our OBX vacation with friends and pups! We LOVE this property!! The dogs can run and play while we relax and we don't have to worry about them because everything is so secure with fencing! A short walk to the beach, a quiet neighborhood and all the comforts & necessities a home should have. We love the pool table, putt putt course and arcade game too!! Owners are always so kind and responsive and we feel like they're OUR family! Ready to book for 2023 already!

Amazing stay!!
This house was FUN! It’s a Grateful Dead themed house that is super dog friendly! Our family dog had an amazing time and we were not worried about her with the dog yard. There is a wonderful sidewalk to walk your pets here as well.
The master bed is amazing! Comfy with 5 stars. There are 2 showers in the master bed which was helpful.
The shower outside - the Box of Rain - was clean and refreshing. There were extra chairs & umbrellas there if we needed.
The most amazing thing was how well stocked the kitchen was. If you’re at the beach & want to cook. We found everything we needed & we cooked all our meals. The charcoal grill came with a chimney starter which was extremely thoughtful!
We would stay here again & again! Thanks for being such amazing hosts!

Stella Blue is everything a family needs to have a relaxing yet fun-paced week in the Outer Banks. The location is excellent for enjoying time on a beautiful stretch of beach. The house extras like the 9 hole mini-golf, pool table and game center keep the young and old entertained for days. The property is well-maintained and the owners are readily available for any questions or needs. We love this place!

Fantastic vacation
We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stella Blue. Everything we needed was on site and the icing on the cake was the under house play area! We had a sick baby part of the trip but enjoyed hanging at the house playing all of the games.

This house was so much fun! Very close walk to beach. And, while it was nice to be in Nags Head for grocery, golf, restaurants, there are less houses in this area so it’s not crowded at all. And very dog friendly. The mini golf was really clever and fun! Plenty of room! Great kitchen!

Perfect for people & pups!
We LOVE Stella Blue and are already planning our next stay!! The outdoor set up was perfect for allowing the dogs to roam, play and then pant after a day at the beach, which is a short walk across the quiet street! Stunning sunrises & sunsets and the house has all the necessities and more! Thank you, Tiffany, for sharing your amazing home! ( and for the special purchase of the crab steamer pot - we used it almost everyday!)

A great place to stay
This house was absolutely wonderful, the owners has designed a space that is entertaining and feels like home. It’s full of quirky details and beautifully decorated. It had everything we needed and was conveniently located to the beach, which was a very short walk away. My 3 year old and I absolutely loved having fun with the putt-putt course. The owner is so nice and responsive, this house exceeded expectations for me and my family. I look forward to staying here again.

Spectacular!
Everything was so thoughtfully curated, labeled, and organized that we could relax into vacation immediately. I loved the theme, the location, and the amenities. Main floor and 2nd floor masters were perfect for our group of 8, and everything was spacious, clean, and lovely. Pics do not do lighting justice, but everything in (and under) house was in fantastic condition in sun-drenched happiness. We played a TON of putt-putt, cornhole, and pool — almost as much as when we thought we’d be there during pandemic lockdown.
Check-in and -out were a breeze, and the owner was incredibly responsive, helpful, and wonderful. I hope to be back next summer.

Amazing location and nice house

Location - perfect. A 2 minutes walk to the beach and loved the back little walk across deck to get to the beach quickly.

Amazing stay and phenomenal owner communication!
We were so impressed with this property! Everything was exactly as described if not better. The owner went out of her way in communications, answering all of my questions both before and after our stay and even bringing a wagon to the house for us! The house was very clean and as described; kitchen was super well-stocked, and the walk to the beach was less than five minutes max, even with kids and dogs. Outdoor shower and hose were great, and the putt putt course AT the house was amazing. Would definitely stay again!

Had a great time despite the weather as there is lots to do both inside and out. Loved the mini golf and just a two minute walk to the beach. Would definitely stay there again.

We loved our recent stay at Stella Blue. The property was well located, beach access was easy, kitchen was well stocked- we brought a pan but didn't need it. There were plenty of games, activities for all ages- Mini golf and corn-hole were the group favorites. The owner was swiftly responsive and very friendly. Will definitely go back!

Great location with fun amenities and decor!
This was a great house and location for us to get away, especially at a time when we didn’t want to venture out too much. There was plenty of room for the six of us (my husband and I, two grown kids and their spouse/significant other) and my daughter’s medium sized dog. The bedrooms were roomy and beds were comfortable. The open design of family room, dining and kitchen was spacious with a great island for gathering and cooking and a second sink with wet bar! The Grateful Dead décor was very fun to explore – especially for our kids who knew even less than we did. The neighborhood was quiet and homey feeling on a long street along with an adjacent pedestrian walkway for walks and bike riding. Although we had brought our own beach chairs just in case, there were many chairs, a couple umbrellas and skim boards. And we really appreciated the beach wagon to carry our tent, boogie boards etc. Just as we had hoped, the beach not crowded and was just across the street and down a few houses – an easy 5 minute walk. Unfortunately, there were a couple afternoons where the biting flies got so bad, we had to leave the beach (I assume this is not a regular phenomenon). But the amenities at the house made going back okay – retro video games, large tv, shoot the moon table top game that our kids were obsessed with. Finally, we loved the mini golf and permanent standing corn hole game – we had regular evening challenges with both. Thanks for the great stay – we plan to come back!

Finally a family getaway in this crazy COVID year!!!
All our other plans for this year have been cancelled, so we were really looking forward to getting together with our adult kids and their partners for a beach week. We knew we'd mostly stay put at the house and the beach, so we wanted a welcoming, comfortable place. This house was perfect. Lots of room to come together and to separate for working, reading, playing music, and such. Upstairs and downstairs screened porches provided wonderful outdoor, bug-free retreats. A seemingly infinite uninhabited beach just minutes walk to the south gave us a great place to run our dogs. We found everything we needed in the house. The putt-putt course made us giggle at the possibility, but far exceeded expectations and made for some silly family fun.
Thanks so much to our hostess, Tiffany, who was super accommodating on our last-minute scheduling concerns regarding a storm and potential evacuation.

Wonderful location with "Greatful Dead" theme.
Overall, this was the nicest house on the Outer Banks that I've rented over the last 6 years. I never thought Nags Head would be so nice. The 4 bedrooms are nice sizes and the AC plus ceiling fans kept everything nice and cool. The screened porch is great. The bathrooms are very nice. But most of all, the kitchen layout was so well done that I wish I had one in my house. The island and 2 sinks and the bar plus a ginormous dining room table. Perfect for our group.
Very dog friendly. Nice and open layout. Easy for the Greyhound to move around. Best laundry room too.
But the "KOOLEST" treat of all was the 9 hole Putt-Putt golf course. "SO MUCH FUN!!!!!" And the 1st hole is a real killer,,,,, my guess is it's a true Par6!!!! So kool....
Lastly, just walk across the street and down the lane and you're on the beach. And the beach was beautiful! And no crowds!!!!
Really hope I can make it a repeat journey next year!!!
And BTWs,,,,, 4 of my family members were so inspired and impressed by the theme that they all got "GREATFUL DEAD" DANCING BEAR TATTOOS!!!!! CRAZY, right?

Great Getaway

Fantastic family getaway
This was a truly relaxing vacation, thanks to the location and amenities at Stella Blue and the ease of reserving through VRBO. The home owner was very responsive to questions and helpful information. This home has everything we needed and more: gorgeous views, spacious rooms, quiet porches, short walk to the beach, quiet neighborhood streets for the nightly dog walk, and loads of fun with the putt putt greens, Cornhole, and frisbee golf right there in the yard! The beach wagon and chairs were so great for getting easily to the beach and relaxing. Maybe 2 weeks next summer??? :)

Love this home!
Stella Blue is a gem! This was our second stay at the property, and we enjoyed every minute. The home is inviting and playful inside and out. The location is perfect for watching the sunrise or trekking to the beach. The beach is spectacular. The neighborhood is quiet. Shopping and restaurants are nearby in Nags Head. Our family loves the miniature golf course under the house, and there are multiple decks and screened in porches to spread out and enjoy each day.

Wonderfully quaint house that has everything one could need to have a fun vacation. The kitchen is stocked with every cooking appliance and cookware needed, there are plenty of fun games and things to do for the kids, including a putt-putt course on the main level and the bedrooms are spacious with comfortable beds. The owner is super responsive and friendly! It's at a great location by being only a block away from a beach that has plenty of room and has a fraction of the people that one would see at in VA Beach or Ocean City. We highly recommend this house!

Lovely stay for family vacation
My family loved our time at Stella blue! The putt putt course was definitely a fav as well as the arcade table. They had some great books and fun dvds as well. The beds are comfy and kitchen well stocked. Awesome open space in main living. The mosquitos were pretty bad in the evening but that’s to be expected just be prepared!
