We arrived to be told we had no reservations; we did but it took the manager arriving to sort this out. We were shown to a dim room with old sheets/dirty pillows and when we plugged in devices to recharge (into a power surge protector) there was a bang and smoke came out the socket. The hotel's solution was to run an extension cable from the neighbouring room, through our window. We insisted on a room change. These rooms were much better. Few staff spoke much English and although I speak a little Amharic, they weren't always clear. One receptionist was quite rude. Another went out of his way to help us. Trying to get laundry done was also a challenge! A little bit of training for staff would help. Most were willing to help but need support with their English.
