About this cottage rental
Nestled in Varick, this charming cottage for $1,248 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. Be swept away by the beauty of this home and its captivating views of Seneca Lake! This peaceful spot will make your Finger Lakes vacation one to remember. Upon entry into the foyer, guests can immediately enjoy the views of Seneca Lake through the large windows in the great room that stands before you. Enjoy a roaring fire in the gas fireplace and stare in awe of the beautiful stonework that expands from the floor to the cathedral ceiling. To the right of the greatroom, you'll find the first floor master bedroom with king size bed and private ensuite bath. Consider yourself the lucky one of the group if you get this bedroom as it is complete with its own private door to the outside balcony. To the left of the greatroom, an open floor plan welcomes you. Gleaming hardwood floors expand the length of the property. You'll be treated with a warm and charismatic kitchen equipped with granite countertops and top of the line stainless steel appliances. Sit around the island breakfast bar and visit while your meal is prepared. This area is completed with a formal dining area, offering a great place for your family and friends to gather and relax indoors. Traveling down the hallway you'll find a conveniently located half bath and first floor laundry room. Stepping outside on the patio you'll find one of the best views of the Finger Lakes. Enjoy gathering day or night with your group. If the weather is nice, strike up a fire in the propane firepit located on the deck- no need to bring wood here! Pour your favorite glass of Finger Lakes wine, roast some marshmallows and make memories that last a lifetime. Moving your way upstairs to the second floor you'll find an open loft that overlooks the first floor greatroom. Curl up on the small sectional sofa, or use it as a pull out bed in the evening. To the right of the loft area is the second floor master bedroom with a private ensuite bathroom with stand up shower. Continue past the loft to the third bedroom with both a queen and twin sized bed. A spacious private bath offers extra privacy that will make getting ready for your day a breeze. Down the hallway, a small sitting area with TV is a welcomed escape from the rest of the over sized home. Directly next to the sitting area is a queen bunk room for the kids in your group. Just one door down you'll find a full bath with shower/tub combo and second floor laundry room. Completing the second floor is the fifth bedroom with private balcony. Outside, a grassy slope and stone stairwell lead to the premium lakefront where you can bring your own boat, or rent one locally so you can come and go on the lake as you please! **This property is closely monitored for responsible renting and must abide by Town of Varick Rental Guidelines; this includes limiting guest occupancy to 10 at all times. Occupancy: This property is closely monitored for responsible renting. The maximum occupancy of each home is the number of guests allowed on the premises at any given time. This includes both day and overnight guests. Note: Smoking is not allowed in any rental property. Homes are not handicap accessible, unless stated in description. Where pets are allowed it is indicated. Otherwise, pets are not allowed. Homes are not guaranteed allergen-free, even those that do not allow pets. The house was spacious and as depicted in pictures. The kitchen was very well stocked. A few minor repairs were taken care of promptly by the property management. The deck was our favorite hangout pace to talk and enjoy the lovely lake view.

We stayed at Five Gates with several couples while we were in town for a wedding at Zugibe Vineyards. The house was clean, comfortable, beautiful, and located in the perfect spot. We would love to stay again someday!

We always look to book homes that can accommodate at least 3 couples with an ensuite full bathroom and shower. We've stayed at some very new, very large, beautiful properties on other Finger Lakes but Five Gates is the best of all the luxury homes we've visited. We will book another stay very soon and we look forward to it!

Our group of 10 college friends gathered at this great house on Seneca Lake. The layout of the house, sleeping accommodations and number of bathrooms worked so well. The sunsets were amazing. The house was very clean and fairly well appointed (the kitchen knives could use sharpening). We had an issue with the coffee maker and the property management company responded the same day by dropping off a new Keurig. It was a wonderful few days in the Finger Lakes.

Pros: Great location & views. Spacious house. We had 4 couples, there was plenty of room for 8 inside. The kitchen was pretty well stocked with everything we needed. Sitting at the end of the dock was so relaxing and we caught a couple beautiful sunsets. The location is convenient to some wineries we wanted to visit. The fire table on the deck was perfect in the evenings and we used the grill one night for dinner.
Some things that need attention: the ice maker doesn’t work in the fridge. If it’s not connected, a heads up to buy ice ahead of time would have helped. The smaller beverage fridge doesn’t work.
Also the seating on the patio is very uncomfortable. We wanted to spend most of our time on the deck but the seating was limited. There are really only 2 comfortable chairs for spending any time on.
The other issue was the upstairs got quite warm. The people who slept up there said it was too warm for comfort at night. Also no blinds on the upstairs bedroom windows made for very early (like 5:30 am) rising and there was no way to keep the sun out during the day. The down thermostat controlled those rooms but we really couldn’t get it cool enough.

One small suggestion: would be great to provide a bit more garbage bags and dishwasher blocks. We ran out on those on the second day and have to buy more.

Very accommodating - - inside and outside. Great scenery, crystal clear water, and beautifully maintained property. Neighbors (Chris & Barb) treated us like family - - so friendly! Fishing off the dock was incredible - - caught and released 17 bass, 3 catfish, and 1 perch all in two days fishing!!

We had an amazing time at Five Gates. The house is beautiful and comfortably fit our family of thirteen. Everything was impeccable and incredibly well appointed with everything you'll ever need on vacation.
Our only regret is not staying for a few more days. We loved it!
