Kallt och tråkigt.

Rummet var iskallt, kalt och opersonligt. Ingen tv. Väligt basic. Känns som ett vandrarhem

Geweldige ligging vlak bij de gezellige haven!

Echt een heel leuke locatie, vlak bij de gezellige haven van Mariestad. Het pand zelf is heel tof! Het is zichtbaar gevangenis geweest, maar qua ruimtes voelt het gelukkig heel vrij. De kamers, de service en de gedeelde ruimtes zijn eenvoudig en toch sfeervol ingericht. De ligging is echt perfect, alleen daarom zou je al naar het Waterside hotel gaan!

It's good for a short layover, maybe not for a longer stay.

It was a special experience to stay in a former prison cell. The breakfast was not very substantial but good and appropriate for the price. The position of the hotel was nice and central. Free parking infront of the hotel.

Very small and simple equipped room with shared bathrooms. Loud buzzing outside the whole night (maybe from an ventilating system or something like that).

Was probably nice once

Location is in an old prison and you can feel the history. Also interesting that you could just wonder around in the building, even into the creepy basement and chapel, as well as deserted hallways and rooms were (weirdly) open... Breakfast was decent and changed a bit both days. Don't expect to get anything that is finished from the buffet though (eventhough there is still half an hour time): the staff was very reluctant to help or fetch anything more. Coffee was not great and we were not allowed to use the coffee machine with fresh beans that was near the buffet, for some unclear reason. Beds were quite comfortable and showers in the shared bathrooms were good too (although not always so clean).

Seems like it has been taken over by people who don't really care for the guests or service towards them, unfortunately. Could have been a great place! The room wasn't very clean, with also hairs on the mattress cover. The room smelled quite a bit like sweat too, which was very unpleasant. Moreover, as I was with a friend, we specifically asked for separate beds, which was accepted upon booking. However, when we arrived in the afternoon (around 17:05), we found that there was only a double bed that could not be separated. This was very awkward and unfortunately there was no staff to be found anymore and the phone was not answered either. Also the email and message via Booking we sent (about the bed and the cleanliness) went unanswered until check-out 2 days later. Hardly an apology when we checked out, which was even more disappointing. Also the shared bathrooms seemed rarely cleaned, maybe just twice a day, while it was shared by over 20 booked rooms. Maybe also good to realise that even though the walls are very thick, it is still extremely noisy through the door, so bring earplugs! And if you are staying here in summer, an eyemask is also recommended, as the curtains are not blinding out the light (and the sun rises 03:30).

Interesting

Breakfast was good. The styling was a bit odd, Pubstyle dekor/ prisonheritage. The accomodation was in an old prison. Not very cosy, but very vell preserved and interesting :-)

I´m an arkitect and I could do more with the room furniture in our room.

Very good

The room is really big and comfortable. Location is nice. Good breakfast. It was interesting to stay in a place full of historical background.

A little bedside table and a few shelves in the bathroom would be useful. And a shower mat too.

Pleasant

The hotel was located near the waterside and quite scenic. The room was quite clean and breakfast was ok. Staff are quite friendly.

There was no lift in he building and the room doors was quite unique. Check-in was ok but not the best per instructions. The cafe area has a camera directly positioned above the dining table. If the hotel provides bicycles to roam around it would be perfect. The bed was a bit firm.

funky expletive to stay in a jail for leisure!

it’s pretty central and funky experience, most things were clean.

our room was nice and cozy.. but I just say - the bed sheet was dirty, I don’t know what it was but it was unpleasant , so I just slept on another bed.

Great place to stay for overnight or to visit the city but not a lot to enjoy inside.

The room was huge but the spiral stairs 2 floors up were not very fun. The fact that it's an old prison gave it a special charm and a very unique feeling. The place was near the water and it was a quiet neighbourhood with private parking just across the entrance.

The coffee Machine on the upper floor was not clean and there were no mugs available or a place to get water. Didn't feel nice to fill it from the common bathroom nearby. Breakfast was decent, but few options, and the bread could have been fresher. It felt more like a hostel than a hotel but nothing bad. Some sausages or scrambled eggs would have definitely made it better.

The room was small but cozy and had a nice view. The shared facilities were clean.

Reception was open only during the day. It felt overall very quiet and empty, the hallways and shared facilities were much drearier than the room.

Quick overnight stay in an old prison with comfortable beds

What i expected from it.

Breakfast was wel taken care off with quality food! The feel of the building was great. A real prison. I loved it for one night

Breakfast was maybe not positioned good in the breakfast area. if 4 poeple want something it is allready too crowded. Needs some improvement! Sadly the family room was taken. so we had to take 2 rooms. Parking was not so good. not enough spaces for all the rooms and visitors.

great location, vibes and clean. let’s not forget it used to be a period on and they have done a great job with remodeling the showers.

noise insulation is not great. one can hear the noises throughout the night people moving around the corridor.

Great when passing through Mariestad

The prison environment is actually nice. The room was ok with a great bed. Breakfast was ok but nothing more. My advice, if you serve boiled egg please add kaviar
