The neighborhood We are located in Somerset West that lies in the Helderberg Basin, surrounded by an amphitheater of mountains, between the Cape Winelands and False Bay. Every December, the town has a fairly decorative display of Christmas lights erected atop the street lights of the Main Road. The Helderberg Lights Festival (aka the Strawberry Festival), a flea market and parade, normally complements these lights. another must see is The Helderberg Nature Reserve, a 363 hectare natural wildlife preserve opened in 1964, contains a wide variety of smaller fauna (buck, tortoises and other reptiles) and outstanding specimens of indigenous flora such as protea and fynbos. The Vergelegen Wine Estate lies just outside the town itself. The buildings on the estate constitute fine examples of Cape Dutch architecture. The Lwandle Migrant Labor Museum is located in Lwandle Township and is dedicated to the history of Black migrant workers in the area during the apartheid era. It is one of only a few museums in South Africa that covers this aspect of the country's history. Somerset West contains a number of sporting facilities including several golf courses, one of the most famous in South Africa is the Somerset West Golf Club The historic town of Stellenbosch is reachable via the R44 motorway (approx 18 km / 11 mi away). The area between Somerset West and Stellenbosch also encompasses many vineyards and wineries (e. G. Rust-en-Vrede, Lourensford, Alto, J. P. Bredell) where visitors can sample and purchase wine. The oldest remaining vineyard in South Africa, Vergelegen, one of the most ancient winery, is situated on the outskirts of Somerset West. Close to Cape Town (40 kilometers) and the International Airport (25 kilometers away on the N2 motorway), the beaches at the Strand and Gordon's Bay, as well as the Western Cape's numerous wine farms. On Route to Hermanus, GaansBai. Getting around There is no convenient public transport. However we can organize taxi's / Uber or a private driver if needed. We can also organize airport pickups / drop-offs and tours too. To hire a car would be the best and most flexible option for exploring the winelands. This is a real find , every detail has been thought of and the breakfasts are delicious and so beautifully presented- including wonderful home grown tomatoes.Worth a detour from anywhere! The garden setting is perfect and has been designed to give everyone special places to retreat and relax.in It is in a lovely quiet area above the hustle and bustle of the town but near enough to easily get to the local attractions.

Look no further for accommodation in Somerset West or the Cape Town Region for that matter. We’re compelled to share our wonderful experience at the Villa Adelbert. Mario and Marco are the most welcoming, hospitable and gracious of hosts. It is clear they have a passion for what they do and have mastered the art of the bed and breakfast on their beautiful property. No detail is left unattended. Never before have we felt so welcome, taken care of and valued on our travels. We stayed two nights in the studio lavender cottage, which has been exquisitely decorated with the most lovely touches. The king size bed with high quality bedding was a dream to sleep on. The reading room in our cottage has a large dresser, and a fridge stocked with beer, wine, snacks etc. There was even a courtesy carafe of brandy to enjoy. A custom breakfast is provided each morning on a different place on the property. Omelettes, bacon, fruit platters, are only a small sample of what is offered. Our breakfasts here were better than anywhere we’ve travelled. We were given great advice on local attractions and activities. Mario printed maps and helped us determine what to do during our short time in the winelands region and literally thought of every detail. The wi-fi signal is strong throughout the entire property and internet speed is lightning fast. The overall cleanliness and state of the accommodation and property in general is nothing short of impeccable. The grounds/garden area are well manicured and visited by many species of bird. Villa Adelbert is a perfectly tranquil oasis that we will fondly remember always. Two nights is much too short of a stay here and much too short to fully experience the region. Had we known of this jewel when planning our trip to South Africa we would have stayed much longer. We hope to be back again! Thank you again Mario and Marco! Chad and Ashley

This B&B gem is a tranquil oasis in Somerset West, a mere 30 minutes from Cape Town and 15 minutes from the False Bay beaches. Owners, Marco and Mario, have created a slice of heaven where guests are able to revel in the quiet of a beautifully manicured garden featuring ponds and bird baths, a lovely garden folley-come-breakfast room, plenty of secluded nooks with comfortable seating throughout the outdoor areas, and a swimming pool situated in a quiet back corner of the property. My partner and I stayed 5 nights in the artists studio overlooking the Helderberg Mountains. The attention to detail evidenced throughout the property continues in the main house and in the lodge with beautifully appointed furniture, artwork, crisp Italian linens, a private reading room with espresso machine and assorted drinks and snacks. If this were not enough, the spectacular hospitality and breakfasts prepared by Mario and Marco are off the charts, with a large selection of traditional homemade breakfast options, all done with amazing attention to detail, perfectly so. Having stayed at some of the top boutique hotels in Cape Town, I would venture to say that this is my number one take on luxury lodging in the area, distinguished largely by the enveloping service rendered by the owners.
