For an affordable one day stay it was ok.

Couple who run the hotel were very sweet.

Onsen is very small. Elevator does not work.

松島で風呂とトイレがある部屋で安く泊まれるのは有り難い。

スタッフの皆さんがとても素晴らしい！松島に宿泊する時はまたお世話になりたいと思いました。

部屋のお風呂のお湯が温かったのがちょっと残念…

Les gérants absolument adorables, la propreté impeccable, le charme d'antan avec du bois partout, le petit onsen dont j'ai pût profiter malgré mes tatouages, après accord des gérants. Pour 1000¥ vous pouvez rajouter un petit déjeuner japonais traditionnel qui vaut vraiment le coup, c'était délicieux et copieux ! Mr Koumura m'a gentiment amené à la gare pour mon départ.

Peut de produits de beauté disponibles sur place à part shampooing et savon, pensez à ramener vos produits personnels

Wir kommen wieder :)

Eine ganz tolle Erfahrung. Die Gastgeber waren äußerst herzlich und zuvorkommend. Sie haben uns alle Sehenswürdigkeiten erklärt. Diese sind alle fußläufig sehr gut zu erreichen. Das Zimmer war sehr gut ausgestattet und gemütlich. Das Onsen war super! Nochmals vielen Dank und gerne auf ein nächstes Mal bei schönerem Wetter :)

Wonderful experience in Matsushima!

Beautiful, traditional ryokan not far from Matsushima Station. You can get to the main attractions in Matsushima on foot in about 20-30 minutes comfortably. The room was comfortable and clean, the staff very friendly and accommodating. Great experience!

Cannot wait to visit again at some stage.

The hosts are exceptional - the best hospitality I’ve experienced in 4 visits to Japan. Their dogs are very cute. The friendly service and suggested sightseeing made this a memorable accommodation.

Perhaps slightly further than other accommodation in the area, but still very straightforward to access main sightseeing locations in Matsushima.

A safe, clean and welcoming place for any traveler.

The owners are incredibly generous and friendly people, and they went above and beyond to make me feel at home. They even drove me to the station on the last day, and gave me their own food because it was pouring rain and I couldn't make it out for an early breakfast. This ryokan is spotless and very nice. The room was spacious and comfortable. The Japanese bath was very clean and relaxing. The value for the price is literally unbelievable. This is a great jumping off point to explore Myagi and Yamagata prefectures. It is close to two different train lines, and a short ride to a couple nearby cities including Sendai and Yamagata. It is also right next to Shiogama, the best place to go for sushi and sashimi. This is the perfect ryokan for travelers, be it a small group or solo. Nowhere did I feel safer and more at home.

Great little find in Matsushima.

Everything from the location to the palatial size of the room to the tattoo friendly onsen, too bad I wasn't aware of an evening meal served there. The owners are the real treasure there, I wouldn't think twice about recommending this place to anyone interested in visiting Matsushima.

Exceptional

The hosts were an extremely nice couple, who where very helpful and it seemed they really enjoyed getting to know their guests. It was a heartwearming experience. It is the perfect place to experience a traditional Japanese hotel. While the equipment in the rooms was simplistic it was very clean and authentic. Considering the low price this was a great deal. This was one of the best accomodations on our Japan trip.

The only downside was that the hotel is not directly located in the center of Matsushima. But walking there was no problem and only a matter of minutes. At the end of our atay the hosts drove us to the railstation without us even asking.

The two owners are very welcoming and fun. The rooms are nice and clean and there is a onsen at the third floor (we didn’t try it though).

Charming and comfy.

As a relatively low-priced option, I expected a kind of high-end hostel but arrived to find something much nicer. It had vibes of an authentic old-world Japanese ryokan. Besides the great touches of traditional design, the owners were delightful, my room was enormous, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious.

The onsen was a nice touch but not exactly memorable. And the sparseness of my room meant a bit too much floor-sitting for my European bones. But these are minor issues. I loved the place.

Reminded me of GLAMPING.

I guess you get what you pay for. There were other nearby resorts that looked desirable after staying only one night here. The innkeeper and his wife were very kind and spoke some English, although not willing to accommodate with use of bath after we checked out and went SUP-ing the next day.

The place is really old and should be renovated. We refused to use the bath in our room because it looked sketchy. The ofuro upstairs was kind of creepy and that's coming from a guy. Anyway the property is a 10-min walk from the Takagi-machi station and very secluded.

Good value for money. Very clean, warm, practical room facilities.

Location near the Matsushima Eki and walking distance to Matsushima Kankou main center such as the Nioh Maru Pier & zuikanji.

The burou was a little too small and you need to share a small pool with quite some guests.

Lovely owners and beautiful accommodation

Loved our time at Matsushima Koumura! The staff were so lovely and the room was very nice. The Onsen was amazing too! The owners even drove us to the train station after we checked out!

Only problem was it was a bit of a walk to the main part of town in the summer.

Unforgettable Japanese-style stay, excellent value for money

Very beautiful and spacious room with ensuite bahtroom, extremely comfortable futon, and a unique house with splendid decor and atmosphere. Beautiful onsen spa. The staff was extremely kind and the owner even drove me to the station.

Fantastic owners + Refreshing ryokan = Great family memories

Super friendly owners, terrific cultural decor, on-site onsen, and close proximity to train station and sightseeing. I plan to stop here again next time we’re in town.

I've had a lot of friendly greetings in ryokan but this was one of the friendliest! Lovely relaxed inn, easy walk to central Matsushima, and a comfortable night's sleep.
