About this cottage rental
We are putting our lake house up for rent. Old cozy but charming 900 sq ft cottage. 3 bedrooms , 2 new queen size beds, 1 set new -smaller than normal- bunk beds. 51" flat screen TV and two 32" flat screen TV's with cable. New stainless steel appliances, pans, dishes etc. Air printer, Wi-Fi, Bose radio, stereo and turntable, Ikea table sits 8. Front porch is perfect for reading. Back deck is close to the water with no big drop offs and sandy swimming. There is normally a and beach, but high water levels are right up to the seawall right now. Outdoor furniture and canopy.Gas grill, picnic table sits 8. 20 foot Bennington Pontoon with 40 HP and electric start is included with your stay as well as large tube to pull 2 kids around lake behind boat, and 2 kayaks, and 2 paddle boards. New central air. Cottage faces straight west for gorgeous sunsets. This is a smaller 90 acre all sport lake but lots of fun. You can feed the swans at sunset. Easy drive near 80/90. 1:45 minutes from Chicago. Small town with restaurants. 25 minutes to Notre Dame, 20 minutes to mall, great shopping, hotels and every place to eat that you can think of. Close to fruit picking, summer festivals and 27 minutes to an outdoor theater with a drive in restaurant next door. We are trying to make your stay as great as it can be and hope you join us for many years to come. ND HOME GAMES! Stay Friday until Tuesday. Pontoon will still be in water. Enjoy campfires after the game along with autumns amazing sunsets and full color of the trees. A beautiful time in Michigan.

This is the perfect cottage. The hosts have thought of everything. Very clean, nicely decorated and all the little touches made it feel like home. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed spending time with family. Great memories were made. Would highly recommend and will be back.

First of all Jim was nothing less than a top tier host, the cottage was terrific, the amenities were amazing, any and everything you needed. The paddle boards, the kayaks , but the pontoon boat was the star nothing better than melting the streets away with a cruise. Plus Jim had the tanks full of fuel. I will say if Jim is renting this cottage next year we will probably do 10 days to 2 weeks. Thanks Jim for sharing your amazing cottage,and lake with us . Surely is a piece of heaven

This lake house is truly about 60 feet from the lake. The pontoon boat is great and the atmosphere in the house itself is artistic, and cozy with the best of everything provided. There's lots of sun every day. We're hoping to come back next August again. So impressed.

Sunset Beach is a beautiful and well stocked lake home. You will have everything you need.
I did bring my Kuerig because I was unsure if the cottage had one and there is one! So bring your favorite K-cups!
My family enjoyed the quiet lake, fishing was awesome and the boat rides at night were enjoyable.

When we knew we were going to be doing a triathlon in the area, we looked for a place we could bring our dogs with us. We wanted to take them on a trip with us versus boarding them. The cottage we found had everything we were looking for. Jim was very prompt with all communications and expectations. I only wish we had more time to stay and enjoy the lake with the pontoon boat and take full advantage of the sunsets off the back porch. We would certainly without a doubt rent with Jim again if we come back for the race again and it is available.

My family and I spent a week at the Sunset Beach cottage in June for our summer vacation, and we had a wonderful time. The cottage is lovely. It had everything we needed and the hosts left several special touches that made us feel very welcome. We hosted a family bbq and enjoyed hours of swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding. The boat was also a nice addition to our stay. Our family had a wonderful time, and several of our friends and relatives commented on how nice the cottage was for location and amenities. We would definitely come back to stay at this beautiful cottage. The location was perfect for what we wanted. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice lakeside vacation.

My wife and I (and our pups) totally enjoyed our stay at Jim's cottage. This is our 3rd stay, and it works perfectly for us. We worked from home with a great internet connection, and had an 'office view' of the lake. . My wife enjoyed the kayaking. Next time I might try paddle boarding. We also enjoyed a few of the local restaurants ... some really good choices. And, Jim is very good about responding to any questions. We'll defintiely be back.

This was my family’s second vacation at Jim’s cottage, and despite a couple days of rain, we had a great time. Having a pontoon to use is great and the kayaks and paddle boards were a big plus. My Grandchildren really enjoyed the kayaks and are already asking to go back, which we are hoping to do next summer. Thank you Jim for being a great host.

Cottage was warm and welcoming on arrival. Nice beach. Pontoon a big plus. Comfortable beds. Spent most of our time on the large deck. Plenty of chairs. Kayaks were almost new and fun. Would rent again and will recommend to friends. Thanks Jim.

We really enjoyed the boat. That was the biggest seller. The cottage was a little bit to small for my comfort. To have two adults and four kids would be fine but not comfortable for five adults and one child. Not enough privacy.

Our family returned to this property because we had a phenomenal experience last year and we were not disappointed. There is nothing not to like about this place. We enjoyed the lake, the toys and the comfy house. Many of the things one needs to feel at home are provided, and the lake is fantastic. The area is quiet and it is a hop, skip and a jump from stores and such . We enjoyed a trip to Mishawaka's Central Park which had a splash pad, and a nice mini golf place is not far away--the adult kids enjoyed that. We are so grateful for our (2nd) time there and for the heartwarming memories we took home with us.

Just Perfect
Exactly and even better than advertised! Grandkids loved the bunk beds. The lake, kayak’s paddle boards and of course the pontoon made for a memorable stay. ,

The house was neat as a pin and exceptionally comfortable. My husband and I spent many hours on the pontoon quietly fishing. Will be back.

Relaxing Lake Cottage
My wife and I decided a change of scenery would be nice while working from home. This lake cottage was a fantastic get away. We worked with a huge picture window view of the lake, sunsets, swans, ducks, etc. We also took the pontoon out and checked out all the houses around the lake, and my wife enjoyed kayaking. Also, the homeowner quickly answered our couple of questions. Totally enjoyed the trip and the house.

We came from North Dakota for a Notre Dame football game and this little cottage was absolutely perfect and a price that can't be beat. Warm, cozy, comfortable and a short drive after a late game. We will stay again! Go Irish!!

Delightful cottage on the lake
Jim is incredible. He went way beyond to make my stay comfortable and memorable. Our communication was super easy and quick and the place looks exactly like it does in the pictures.
The cottage is very tidy and lovely, equipped with everything you need. for real, everything! There were brand new shower puffs with tags on in the bathroom. I stayed here for about a week with my puppy. I was working remotely during the weekdays, the internet was great, 100+ Mbps. More than enough for my meetings and watching Netflix in the evenings :)
The property is right on the lake and you have direct access to the deck and kayaks and the pontoon. Jim came over and demonstrated how to use the pontoon on a Saturday morning when my boyfriend was staying with us for the weekend. We had a great time taking the pontoon out and kayaking and watching the stunning sunset.
It was a great trip to relax, unwind while being able to work during the day. I'll definitely come back again!

Great property, wonderful host!
My husband and I had an excellent stay at this beautiful cottage. It had everything we needed, and you couldn't ask for a better host than Jim. We arrived to relaxing music, lamp-lit rooms, and a welcome gift of wine, chocolates, and a case of water. Jim was also super quick to respond to any questions we had. We had a memorable stay with warm, leisurely afternoons on the lake and amazing sunset views in the evening. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at this comfortable cottage again.

Sunset Beach /Memory Maker.
This is our third stay!Jim is a great host but we need nothing while there. Sunset Beach is clean and comfortable and provides beautiful sunsets and lake fun for young and old. We are grateful for our time there.

Great family getaway
There would not be enough space to explain how enjoyable this place is for a small group or family. This was our 5th annual summer vacation with our adult children and we were not disappointed. All the water toys and pontoon boat were enjoyed enormously, and our infant granddaughter went “tubing” (we pushed her around on the tube near the shore) and took to lake life quite well. Happy memories were taken home by all. This is a comfortable, well-equipped home. We hope to go back.

Great Small Lake Cottage
My wife and I decided on a winter get-away before Christmas, and found this hidden gem near my parents. We'd WFH on good WiFi with a fabulous lake view, beginning our day by watching the sun begin to shine on the lake. Bringing our dogs with us was an added bonus, and the enclosed front porch a great way to clean paws before entering the house. What a relaxing 10 nights.
The owner Jim was great to work with, and easy to touch base with. When we arrived, he had the Christmas tree lit, Christmas music playing, and a welcoming treat set out. We felt at home as soon as we walked in the door.
The area had a number of mom-and-pop restaurants which were really good. I'd recommend Four Square for the seafood.
We'd stay here again in a second, and plan to check availability on any subsequent trips to see my parents.

Second stay at “Gramma and Grampa.s” cottage.
Everyone is very comfortable at Sunset Beach. There are lake toys and table games for all. Rain didn’t steal our fun.. Jim couldn’t be more prompt in response or bigger in desire for you to make happy family memories. That we did! Thank you (again) from our family.

Lakehouse get away
A very nice welcoming with a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine. We did have a few hiccups in our stay but Jim was very responsive to our needs.
Some beautiful sunsets and very relaxing. Our grandaughter loved throwing her pole into the water and swimming in the area in front of the home.

We were able to rent for 19 days and had various family stay at different times. It was so nice to have everyone together to enjoy the pontoon, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and other amenities.
The owner was quick to respond when questions arose and allowed an early check in after cleaning.
The only suggestions is a new Keurig/coffee brewer and there could be a deep cleaning done.
We truly enjoyed the visit and it was very relaxing! Thank you!

Spoiled
We were spoiled by this cottage and Jim. Communication was prompt. We had a small plumbing issue which he was prompt to resolve. Enjoyed comfortable beds, living quarters and sitting on the deck for spectacular sunsets. Kayaking a quiet lake. Very functional and appointed. There is no regrets staying here. Jim is the super host! Now if he had power over mother nature. We had unseasonable cool weather but the place was cozy to stay in.
