What a treat for our first night in Bali. Kadek met us when we arrived and showed us everything we needed. We looked out to the pool and rice fields which was a nice and tranquil. Our place was very clean and because we arrived late. We order dinner which was delicious and cooked to perfection. Chef surprised with a wonderful desert. Overall our two nights in Chi T House was amazing, and the staff were wonderful.

Beautiful Getaway in Ubud
The T house has a beautiful aura of seclusion and removal from the crowded city of Ubud. We found the pool to be an amazing way to keep cool after long days seeing the sights of Bali. The quirky little house, with its gorgeous open-air eating spaces and tree-house style sleeping rooms became home for a few sweet days.

Give yourself a break
We needed a real break after the cold Victorian climate and this was just the place. It was rural (thank you roosters, frogs, geckos, cats, dogs and temple business for our morning wakeup call) and the location overlooking the rice fields was superb. Our initial disappointment that the water had gone from the rice fields which were ready for harvest gave way when we watched with interest as the villagers cut the rice, collect the grains and dried them on the street a few hundred meters away.
And if I wanted to see wet paddy fields, all I had to do was walk a few meters away to another terraced area. The food was simple, very reasonably priced and oh so tasty. Go for it try a rural Balinese getaway. Ubud is only a short drive away.

We loved the Chai T house, it was like ritzy glamming with the open style accommodation. Complete with lots of frogs, lizards, butterflies & some friendly cats & dogs. The kids were not impressed when it started raining & water was running down the wall inside their bedroom & frogs visiting them most nights. The carpark was right behind their bedroom so was noisy when people were coming & going, open rafters so you can hear everything. Not so bad in the master bedroom upstairs, you tune out after a couple of nights. The staff were great, very helpful & genuine. Lovely breakfast cooked in our villa every morning. Lovely rural outlook over rice paddies. I would stay here again, leave the children at home!!

THouse is located coviniently in the rural setting of Ubud. We walked to Ubud and it took us 30 minutes of an interesting march. Walking through the village and fields is a pure pleasure but one you get to the main road the real challenge begins as footways are very narrow and full of open holes to storm water channels. Taxi from /to Ubud 30,000 RP.
Accommodation is a perfect personification of Balinese spirit. Garden, courtyard, house are tangled together and fluid. Open air bathrooms are a fascinating cultural curiosity which we enjoyed very much.
Ground floor room is more European style:with walls, glazing and TV. The first floor bedroom is a Balinese interpretation of it: open to nature, stunning sunset views. Both rooms have big fans and mosquito nets. And we found that it is sufficient to feel comfortable. It was a bit loud at night due to the surrounding nature. Froggy rap accompanied by cricket drum section became our favourite music.
Breakfests are freshly prepared by lovely ladies. You just open the door in the morning and they come relatively soon to make typical breakfast food: eggs (scrambled, fried, omlet or pancakes), toast, fruit and Balinese coffee. Perfect start of a day.
Swimming pool is clean, comfortable, with a shallow section for children. It is long enough to have some meaningful exercise. Tranquil views over the rice field. Stargazing recommended.
Optional services include: massage and taxi. Massage is SUPERB ladies provided us with Balinese relaxation massage. And WE deeply regret that we took only one.....
Gerry recommended Putu the taxi driver for the airport transfer and we also asked him to give us a tour and drive us to Amed. And indeed his services were also excellent. He speaks fairly good English, knows places so can suggest routes if you give him your objectives, talks but also gives room for private conversations. We were so happy that we employed him multiple times.
Overall we had wonderful time and THouse was an integral part of the experience.
The staff on the compound is great. Apart from doing their job well, they also are very helpful in non standard situations such as assisting in changing the cooking class booking or treating the wound. THANK YOU!!!

Veel achterstallig onderhoud en niet schoon
Ligging is mooi.

We absolutely loved Chai House! Such a gorgeous little Balinese-style wooden house, full of character with comfortable beds, spacious feel and lots of seating/dining areas, plus open air bathrooms – showering under a beautiful Ubud sky surrounded by bamboo and coconut trees, unforgettable experience!! The pool is really nice and it was so relaxing/serene swimming right next to the rice fields, especially in the early evening before sunset. We saw local children and villagers passing by through the rice fields; such a unique and authentic feel being so close to traditional village life. Putu the driver was great, he was waiting for us at the airport with a big smile and took us on an adventurous day trip (he will tailor to what you like to do); we also rented a motorbike from the T House staff and drove into Ubud town (very busy!) which was 10 minutes’ drive away. If you enjoy being close to nature and seeing the real Bali, I would highly recommend a stay at Chai House. Thanks Gerry!
Negatives: Breakfast was a bit on the small side, recommend to ask for more toast! or buy extras (ham, sausages, etc.) from the local supermarket to keep in the fridge and ask the staff to cook. Coco Supermarket is open until 11pm and has everything you could need!

Okay, I’m biased because I used to live there myself for a couple of years, renovated it and sold it to the current owner, Gerry… who is now also a good friend.
He added his taste to the house and did so very well and the place has a lot of atmosphere. The owner is friendly, honest and very experienced in renting properties and making guests feel welcome.

Perfect Family Holiday
My family had a wonderful time at the Chai T house. All communication with Gerry was quick and easy. The house was exactly as described. We loved the open air feel and were perfectly comfortable. We made use of the fantastic pool every day. We also enjoyed meeting the other families staying in the compound, everyone was so friendly. The staff was always helpful and pleasant. We were especially grateful for Putu, our driver. He picked us up at the airport and drove us all around Ubud. He took us to so many interesting places, telling us stories and describing life in Bali all the while. We thought it was the perfect accommodation for a laid-back family.

Heaven on earth!
What a lovely place! I was really sad when I had to leave because his place is something really special. The women were just harvesting the rice next to the property, people are so incredible friendly and helpful and Putu as a guide and driver is just invaluable!!!! The pool was so nice that I went every morning even before breakfast for a swim, and it gives you the feeling you are swimming into the rice field. The staff is very helpful, and we have really enjoyed the Indonesian cooking class.
I love the T-House and I am sure I will come back next year! Even my daughter who is just 18 and normally in a party mood has really enjoyed it.

Bali Bliss in the Rice Fields
We stayed 3 nights in the Villa and we could not have asked for anything better. The house was clean and taken care of by the local staff daily. The swimming pool facing the rice fields is just feet away and clean. The layout of the house provides many different areas to get comfortable or eat. Just five minutes from town on a motorcycle made it very easy to come and go. The villa complex is in a local neighbourhood which truly gives you the flavour for what Bali is really like. This was my 12th trip to Bali and I have never stayed in a better location. Gerry was very helpful in securing the reservation in such a short amount of time. We hope to go back again next year. Just make sure when finding it the first time you look for the stone markers on the side of the road which could be overlooked. Make sure you take a walk through the rice fields at sunset and follow the family of ducks that live there. Was quite entertaining.
Thanks Gerry

So glad we discovered this gem!!
I was convinced (by photos on this website & good communications rec'd from the owner) Chai T was going to be a favourite place to stay, where expectations would not be disappointed. This villa is a true gem, we were not let down.
I differ to reviews that say this is basic accomodation, we thought is was magic, a blended contemporary and traditional design with simple decor & bold colours, totally relaxing, the open/outdoor living we embraced and loved that it allowed you to chill out completely, and we mean completely. The beds were great for sleeping on, upstairs held breathtaking views over the pool through the coconut trees out to the rice paddies, it was picture perfect.
We were two adults & a four year old, we wished we had brought along extra family so they could enjoy what we felt. It's perfect for children, safe, the fish pond lovely & frogs who reside that are gorgeous. We saw fabulous surprises of nature & creatures within the wider villa grounds not typical at resort accomodations. Our son sought this with eagerness. Adventuring through the rice paddies idyllic.
The staff Wayan, Adil, Cuk & the ladies who service the villas daily are amazing. Just ask & they are so willing to assist, so friendly. The driver Putu will take you anywhere, he is fabulous company. We organised a motorbike through the staff, that was the best for exploring Ubud independently & getting to restaurants etc, it was completely safe, we took our four year old everywhere. You just do it how everyone else does in Asia!
The ladies made the yummiest banana pancakes with fresh fruit, we didn't even try any of the omlete options as the pancakes were to die for. Our son wanted to try drinking out of a coconut, which the staff made his day by climbing the tree to get some and cut them open for us. They made our stay sta
We stocked the fridge with our own supplies for lunches & snacks from Coco supermarket. Dining in Ubud is sensational - we recommend Taco Casa & Grill, Siam Sally, Kafe to name a few. The drinking water supply provided in the water cooler dispenser is safe (everywhere else you stay you should drink from sealed bottles, but here don't be concerned as this water is completely safe).
The swimming pool is awesome, we did lengths every morning, it's deep for fun & dives etc, the shallow pool perfect for kids play.
We stayed 7 nights, so wished was more!! We "HIGHLY" recommend Chai T, our son still talks about this place

Cozy villa Chai - with a view of Bali's ricefields
Villa Chai is a nice, cozy place that I can recommend to everyone who likes the quiet environment of rice fields, and local temples, and who prefers to avoid the tourist crowds and disco’s.
The wooden house – built in traditional Balinese style - is not luxurious, but comfortable and well maintained; the four-poster bed sleeps gorgeously and friendly staff prepares a great breakfast in the morning.
Ubud town, just a few kilometers away, is a lovely small village with several cozy restaurants and many handicraft shops and boutiques. Renting a motorbike is recommended.
I enjoyed the relaxed walks through the rice fields and a visit to the slightly weird Blanco Museum.
Whenever possible, I surely would like to visit Villa Chai again.

awesome villa
Chai T - our most favorite stay during our visit to Bali.
the villa is cozy & lovely, nice ambiance and atmosphere, very close to paddy field, it's a perfect place for nature lover! We enjoyed every facilities in the house except the open-air bathroom (you know, most of the Asian are too shy for this... hahaha...). The breakfast was tasty, must try the pandan banana pancake, thumbs up!! It is a good place for us to recharge our battery though we only spent 1 day here, however by the time we checked out, we wished we could postpone the itinerary behind and stay longer.
Chai T is a awesome villa to stay in, we did have a great times there,
, everything is great! will definately go back again!!

Villa Chai
Villa Chai is a lovely little property located just over 5 minutes drive from central Ubud. We stayed there for 5 days and actually by the end of the 5 days wish it would have been longer.
The villa is basic but comfortable and the bold interior colours really added a nice atmosphere to the place. I would recommend however to rent a motorbike to get around more easily or the helpful staff on site are always available to assist with a taxi if you need. The area is quiet, with each villa having its own privacy and was nice to be located overlooking the rice fields and so close to the communal pool which I used daily :-)
We didn't use much the main wooden house area on the ground floor. If there were some floor cushions or a more comfortable seating area then this would have been great.
The staff are lovely, very accommodating and cook the perfect omelet for breakfast each morning :-)
There are a few things that of course could be improved or changed however they are just cosmetic. Overall for either a couple sharing or a family of 4 the villa is great value for money and I would definitely recommend it. I hope to return in the very near future!

Wonderful place
We stayed at Chai for one week and had a wonderful time. The house is plain but tastefully decorated and has a great atmosphere. There was plenty of room for us (2 adults and 2 kids). The staff was very helpful, cleaned the house each day and made breakfast upon request. Thouse is located at the rice fields in a traditional village that hasn't been spoiled by tourism. Ubud is just 5 minutes away on a motorbike. The owner was very helpful in providing us with information prior to our stay. Definitely worth visiting!

Girls getaway from the city to brave nature
Dear Gerry,
Thanks for renting us your lovely house for our short getaway! Us girls had a blast braving nature (read: bugs of all sizes) and left with many exciting stories to share with our friends. =)
The Chai T House was fabulous to stay at and could easily accomodate more people. Although the location was a little bit out of town, we met a lovely driver (Suasta) who ferried us on our first night to Ubud town. He left such a good impression that we hired him for our next 2 days in Ubud.
On top of it all, the village of Lodtunduh (where T House Klod is location), offered us a unique glimpse past the tourist veil into what Bali village life is truly like.
We will most definitely be recommending T House Klod to all our friends headed for Bali.
Warm Regards,
Sugar Ashley
