My girlfriend and I spent the New Years weekend her and it was fantastic. Great location and Bruce was wonderful to work with. Highly recommended!

Love the large deck right on the river with a hot tub. Very relaxing evenings just listening to the river. The unit is small but works great for 2 people. The unit can be a bit cleaner, with cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling and the vent over the kitchen table needs cleaning but overall, great location for a relaxing weekend getaway. Bruce, owner, is very nice and provides great communication leading up to the visit and during. Will definitely stay again.

Great times with a good location. Love drinking coffee in the morning and watching the family of otters playing in the river. Easy access to local areas. Lake Lure and Chimney rock park was just down the road.

Perfect for a short trip to Asheville or just to get away. Right on the river and although there are people closer by, you feel secluded. About 8 minutes from chimney rock state park and within 15 minutes of 3 breweries and a vineyard.

This was a clean and cozy place with an amazing view! It was close to Chimney Rock and the Flowering Bridge. It provided everything we needed for a wonderful stay. We can not wait to visit again!

My husband and I went for a romantic birthday getaway. The cottage is like an apartment under the owners home. It’s right beside the River. Had a beautiful deck with jacuzzi. We enjoyed playing music, having a few drinks while relaxing in the jacuzzi. We caught some fish in the river. Grilled out. Look forward to visiting again. Very close to chimney rock and waterfall. Love the little stores around. Lake lure is also close by. I recommend booking. The only thing I didn’t like was that it was chilly. It would have been nice if the rooms were warmer. The owner/host was very helpful. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

What a great get-away. A couple bumps in the beginning but addressed immediately. The reservation was non-refundable, so had I known how steep the stairs were to get to the apartment, I would have canceled due to upcoming knee surgery.
Unfortunately, I got sick and checked out after my second night. I don't know if the owner will refund me, or honor a stay in the future. I would like a refund because I don't know when I'll be able to climb up and down stairs.
It is what it is...but I enjoyed my two nights.

The cabin was perfect! Just listening to the river water running past the cabin was more than enough. Would definitely stay here again and would refer to friends. The owner Bruce and his wife were amazing. Thank you both!

Stayed at Bruce’s unit as part of a Fall trip from the UK.
Really enjoyed the location, spotting Otters in the river while sitting on a great veranda. Spent most of our time here.
Hot tub was a great spot to chill after local hikes.
Lots of great spots to explore locally.
Unit had all the facilities we needed to prepare meals etc.
Clean and spacious. Would come back in a heartbeat.

My husband and I always try to go away on our anniversary and thought we would try something different this year and Bat Cave did not disappoint. Our cottage was perfect for the 2 of us. We spent most of our time on the covered deck(thank goodness since Hurricane Ian decided to dump rain and wind on us.) We got a call from Bruce on our way up there saying something was wrong with the hot tub and he is working on getting it fixed. It wasn't going to be able to be fixed until the next day so he was gracious enough to let us use the hot tub at his other rental property next door. A hot tub in the cold, rainy weather is a must on a weekend getaway. Bruce went above and beyond to make sure our stay was exceptional. I can definitely see us coming back to Bat Cave in the future.

Beautiful location!
The 1 bedroom apartment was nice and clean however not as private as I thought when I booked online. It is an attached apartment. However, we barely heard the owners or other vacationers. The perks were the porch had a breathtaking view, hot tub was nice and very clean, and the location to town and shopping was convenient.

Bruce was great! A few unexpected things.
My husband and I mistakenly showed up a day early. Bruce was very accommodating to let us in ahead of schedule. The setting for the rental is just as lovely as the pictures show! The hot tub was perfect with a wonderful view of the water.
The things we weren’t prepared for, and these were very likely in the description and other reviews but I neglected to notice them. No full-sized oven or refrigerator though there is a countertop ice maker, no bed side tables so phone and water were on the floor at night, no thermostat in unit. None of these were serious and didn’t dampen our enjoyment; I just note them for future guests to be aware of. We would stay here again!

In the river
Pretty location overlooking river, very clean, great deck with nice hot tub Just for others information My wife and I are short 5’9’ so no issues but the upstairs ceiling is only around 6’2”( I did not measure it) so if you are tall your head will hit. I hit my head going down the staircase several times.
