We enjoyed our stay here-our second time. Comfy beds and great views.

Loved this rental! Very homey and super clean. The beds are comfortable and the linens are quality. Add the river view from the patio and this was a perfect home base for a week of UP sightseeing.

This is our second time staying here. Great spot to view the freighters coming and going from the locks from inside the home. Love the yard for our dog and the closeness to town.

This quaint rancher has a great view of freighters. The home was easy to find.

Enjoyed our stay. Very clean and conveniently located.

Our primary reason for staying at this home was to be close to Sault Ste. Marie, and right on the river so we could watch the freighters go by. We were not disappointed! Darlene was quick to respond to a small issue we had and had the home well stocked. It was clean and cozy. In all a wonderful place to stay.

Beautiful, perfect, on the short list of favorites.

We had an absolutely beautiful time, and everything was exactly as described. We could not say enough about how much relaxing location this is. We aabsolutely will do again.

House is nice and the view out back is great. Watching the freighters was a favorite activity. We tried fishing off the back but did not catch anything. Lots of
Ducklings and other animals to watch. We met both hosts at different times of the week when they stopped by to get the trash or mow. Very nice people and responsive.
Favorite things we did: We did the Soo locks tour, walked around the shops in town, went to the nearby park in town to watch boats, people, and try fishing, and also the other park with the swimming beach. We drove to root beer falls and had a great time there, highly recommend making that trip, Ate at the brewery there. Our favorite restaurant was Jose’s. We went back a second time we liked it so much. We also drove to whitefish point to swim in Lake Superior which was spectacular. The water is so clear! Great experience there. There is a fishing charter (captain Greg) who lives about a quarter mile up the street and we did a charter with him and caught several northern pike. We are for days with the few we caught.
Suggest owner buy a couple more and bigger window AC units. We ended up staying on what was probably the hottest week of the year and the house was uncomfortably hot until late at night. The kitchen window AC unit is the only one in the house and just isn’t up to the task. Another would be to install an exhaust fan in the one bathroom. With 5 people needing to shower the condensation was too much.

Loved the view. Brought our own outside chairs because we spend a lot of time on the patio, Fire pit would be great addition.
Appreciated all the paper products , charcoal and lighter, dish and laundry detergent.

We were visiting family in Sault Ste Marie and we were fortunate to book this adorable little home on the St. Marie's river. The house was perfect for us. Absolutely beautiful sunrises every morning! We were also in a great location. Close to everything we needed: restaurants, downtown shopping and sightseeing.

Awesome waterfront property, with freighters!

We spent two nights here for a bit of a reprieve between camping trips, and it was just what we needed. The house was clean and comfortable. The big yard was fun for the kids, and the view of the St Marys river was beautiful. We ate all our meals on the back patio enjoying the view of the river and watching the ships go by.

If you like to kayak don’t leave them home! Cute, well furnished, great views of freighters and close to downtown.

Kitchen could use a set of small baking dishes, mixing bowls, and a cutting board. Two bedrooms need dressers, closets were being used for storage. There was a small window air conditioner in the kitchen window, the house was advertised as having air conditioning....not really. Blinds in bedrooms were hard to lower and raise. Please know, we enjoyed our stay and loved watching the freighters pass by!

Right on the St Marys river. Quaint property. Everything one needs.

We are unabashed boat nerds, and this is the perfect location for enjoying the ships! Close to downtown, Rotary Island Park, the park at 4-mile beach, and Barbeau - all the best sites for seeing the boats up close and underway. The beds were comfy and the living room has a picture window looking over the river. Everything was clean and we had a great weekend.

Such a wonderful place. House was clean, cute. Great view of the freighters, other boats on St. Mays River. We went up to visit our son in the Coast Guard. We got to see his boat go by Monday, as they got underway.
Darlene was a great host! Would definitely recommend!
We will be back!

Located right on the water where you can watch the big boats go by. Saw the neighbors fishing. Close to downtown area where the college is located. Many restaurants in the area we ate at some good places. House was well kept and everything we needed was there. The only bad thing was I didn’t have more time to enjoy it more and try some fishing.

We were very interested in seeing the lake freighters and ships and this lovely home was the perfect location to do so. We were thrilled to see the variety of freighters and were so delighted to see the historic Arthur Anderson glide right past.
We were also amazed to see six bald eagles living in the area and hearing all the frogs at night.
This is a lovely and comfortable home and was equipped with everything we needed. Together with a great location on the river and close proximity to Sault Sainte Marie makes this a great destination. We hope to return very soon.

This is an area of the UP that my wife and I haven’t visited yet. This house was very close to downtown but you wouldn’t know it. Fantastic view of the river traffic and great morning coffee views. Lots of fun things to do just minutes away. We would definitely stay again!

My trip was in the winter so I didn't get to enjoy the river. However, the home was spotless and comfortable. The host was extremely responsive and helpful. I would 100% recommend this rental.

Accommodations exceeded expectations. The cottage was very nicely furnished and decorated for Christmas which was a very nice touch. We were cottage bound because of the blizzard but the snow was cleared for us every day which was very much appreciated. We were snug and happy as we watched the blizzard howl outside.

Had a nice weekend getaway for New Years. This was our 2nd time staying and enjoyed it just as much!

We had a great view of the freighters! The house was nice and clean and perfect for the family. Close to the college and town but it felt like we were away from everything, and it was very peaceful. We stayed for a full week visiting our daughter in college and there was no trash pickup at the house. We sent our trash with our daughter for her to throw away at campus. It was during Thanksgiving so that could have messed with the trash pickup schedule. Even with that said we would defiantly stay there again!

This is our third time staying here and won’t be our last. We truly enjoy the area and exploring beyond the Soo. Many things to see and do along with freighter watching and eating at local eateries. Our host was very easy to contact and enjoyed our conversation with her. Home is clean and walk-in shower is great for us.

We have enjoyed the Cardinal Nest several times and always love everything about it- the location makes it perfect to use as a home base for day trips or just hang out and watch the freighter traffic, which seemed exceptionally busy this time. We also had the pleasure of meeting the hosts. It’s clean, cozy and comfortable- we’ll be planning our next visit. Thank you for sharing your nest with us. 😊

This house is the perfect place for a quiet week on the water with great views of sunrises, freighters, and wildlife (Heron, Eagle, Ducks, Deer, Geese) all from the living room window and patio. And what a snug, comfortable, quiet cottage. The heated floors were great on bare feet in the morning!!!!
