Travelling west there are bucolic rural settings, small townships, Mt Field National Park, Forestry, fishing, hunting, bushwalking and adventure. The township of New Norfolk represents one of the earliest towns in Tasmania, circa 1807. The 19th century early settlers relied on stunning river frontage, timber cutting and forestry, later cropping, fruit and hop farming and mental health. The 20th century was marked by industrial growth and the emergence of mining, dam building, paper making, tourism and continuing service to the mentally ill at Willow Court.
