Our oceanfront townhouse in the Marazul Dive Resort is a two level unit, nestled between emerald hills and turquoise sea. Just a few steps from our front-door is easy access to fantastic swimming, diving, and snorkeling, with a professional dive shop nearby. Some of the most spectacular beaches in Curacao are just minutes away -- renting a car is advisable. Nestled between emerald hills and turquoise sea, our home sits about 25 paces away from the water, with easy access to great swimming, snorkeling, and diving from the steps carved into the coral formation cliff right outside our front door. For the scuba diver, our amazing house reef is just 200 feet offshore directly in front of the resort. The water is always calm and crystal clear, with an average temperature of 28 C, making for some unforgettable underwater experiences any time of the year. From our upstairs terrace, the vista is completely unobstructed. At times you think you are in Bora-Bora, and the next minute you could be off the coast of Crete. Our house consists of two identical units, each with a living room/kitchenette and a bathroom on the main floor; upstairs is the bedroom with another bathroom. Mosquito screens on terrace door front door and all windows.The decor is modern and comfortable, including a flat screen cable TV and an iPhone/iPad dock with speakers. For families, you can rent both units with the connecting doors open on the main floor, giving you lots of space with two adjoining living rooms. Condo is in need of many updates and rapairs as well as a really good overall cleaning. Private reef out front was beautiful. Resort grounds were beautiful. Bring bug spray with deet.... Midges and mosquitoes are going to be hanging out with you.

The location is perfect, and accurate for now. They are building another property of rentals directly behind this unit, which will extend to the water. Property manager was responsive and helpful, as the wi-fi was not functional when we arrived.
The unit has definitely seen some wear and tear and is no longer the gleaming beauty you see in the photos. The toaster has been replaced with a toaster oven, the coffee pot had to be moved, as the electrical outlet it was closest too shorted out, which also caused the outlet that the microwave was plugged into (across the room) to short out as well. The manager offered to have repairs done during our stay, Not ideal.
The TV upstairs could not connect to the wi-fi and the remote had no batteries. The manager offered to supply batteries, but again this should be done prior to the renters arriving. We didn't really care about the TV, but not as advertised. We also never saw an ipad/iphone dock with speakers, as advertised.
There were other things that could have been nicer - to achieve the experience that the rating purports. The fan in the kitchen was covered in dust. The bed upstairs had 1 sheet and a coverlet that did not fit the bed. We found an additional sheet.
The lighting fixture in the closet had come apart from the wall, but still worked. Veranda door upstairs didnt lock. Would have been a problem if unit next door occupied.
Most 5 star rentals offer pantry supplies. We only had minimal spices and water in the frig.

The resort was gorgeous, beautiful flowers and bushes, and wonderful pool area with great loungers and plenty of sun space as well as shaded area space. The ocean view is wonderful from both lower patio and upper deck. When we arrived, there was a mix up of units but the minute the property owner found out it was corrected. Communication with the property host was excellent from the time of our booking to him checking in on us during our stay.
We did not see the property manager during our stay, but we did not have any issues to address either. We did not elect to have cleaning service during our stay so I can’t speak to that. The grounds were kept up neatly during our stay and the pool area was immaculate.
Our indoor accommodations: Couch was comfortable as was the bed. Pillows, linens and towels were adequate and we had plenty of towels for shower and pool. There was a lot of storage space with dressers and a closet which was very nice.
Outdoor accommodations: we had plenty outdoor chairs for both lower and upper decks, a grill, and laundry racks for wet towels. Very close to our unit was a beautiful sheltered area with wicker couches and chairs to view sunsets or sit and read.
We had been to Curacao two previous times but had not been to this area of the island before. There were many new adventures for us in this location. It was a wonderful vacation.

We loved our stay at the Marazul Dive Resort. We had a few issues, but the owner was always prompt in responding. The Internet was out the whole time we were there, but they gave us wifi access to other units. We had to go to the pool area to access wifi so that was inconvenient as I work in the evenings and need the Internet. We also didn't have hot water for the first 4 days. I then found out that there is a switch in the kitchen by the sink that turns on the hot water for the entire unit. There should be a sign or some instructions on that. Besides that, we loved the property and enjoyed our stay. Both of these issues should be non-issues for your stay if they fixed the wifi. We would recommend this property.

Great location
Great location of resort, very quiet. Walking distance to a few restaurants and beach. Great ocean access for snorkelling out front. Patrick was very responsive to any questions that we had.

Not luxurious but clean and good location
This is not a luxury accommodation but one that is clean with a good location. The kitchen is well equipped with stove top, toaster oven and dishes. The microwave didn't work. Good water pressure (2 showers) and AC. Pictures are accurate. Ants do find their way in so food must be in the fridge. Management is very responsive and helpful. Good access to western beaches, no more than 10min away. Peaceful gated property. Balcony is nice in the morning and for sunset - no shade in-between. No shampoo, clean sheets, bath and beach towels, 1 ply toilet paper.

Enjoyed our stay here !
Patrick was helpful with directions, and recommendations. Great location, easy to visit the beaches that are close, restaurants within walking distance if you want, especially Cactus Cafe that we visited multiple times as it was right next door and had terrific food.
The view is spectacular, and there are stairs to enter the ocean that are directly in front of the condo. As a non swimmer, it was intimidating for myself, but my husband went for a swim every morning but the last here…there were good sized swails the last morning. We did not use the pool as we preferred to go to the beaches to snorkel.
We did have trouble connecting to the WIFI with Patrick’s notes, but managed to using the code on the back of the router.
Kitchen was great, lots of pots and pans, full size fridge worked perfect…I suggest buying groceries before you come as there are no grocery stores in Westpunt. There are a few spices in the cupboard which is nice.
There are a few small things that are starting to show their wear, but were still very serviceable and I will make the owner aware of them…nothing that would prevent us from staying another time…go and enjoy !

Beautiful fully equipped duplex with an awesome view of the ocean and incredible sunsets!!
We had an excellent vacation at this property. We were very lucky that there was no one in the duplex beside us so it was very private and intimate. The house is located at the end of the complex which gives you additional privacy. The snorkeling was amazing and just a few steps away. Many beaches are close by as well as a couple beautiful parks. There is a couple good restaurants within walking distance. We always brought dinner back home so we could watch the sunset from the balcony!! If you are looking for a quite retreat I would recommend this location in Westpunt. Thanks so much Patrick and Stella for the use of your beautiful home!!

Wonderful Stay
Pat & Stella's unit was exactly as described with the addition of an updated kitchen. All communication with them was smooth and questions were answered quickly. Everything was clean and tidy and comfortable. Location on the island was very nice, closer to best beaches and easy access to Westpunt restaurants. The western facing location was excellent for nightly sunset viewing. The total property was also very nice and the property manager would walk by every morning and check if anything was needed. We would highly recommend this location for your stay on Curacao.

Beautiful ocean view duplex
Great place! We showed up and had someone in the unit we booked. The resort manager was very helpful and gave us the unit next door which turned out to be the very end one. The rest of our stay we were the only people in it so it made for a very private stay.
The suite itself was clean and had all the amenities.
The snorkelling in front of the resort was the best in westpunt!
We both felt it was great value for what we got. We enjoyed watching the sunsets from our patio every night! Would defiantly come back and stay again!

Amazing Vacation
We had the opportunity to stay at Patrick and Stella's unit in Westpunt, Curacao and want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. It was an amazing place to stay. Very relaxing and quiet. The unit was amazingly cleaned and had everything we needed for a 3 week stay. If we had any requests, we just had to email the owners and we got an answer almost instantly. The manager on site, Rene is just fantastic. He made sure we were all good and if we had an issue with anything, he made sure it was fixed by the end of the day. It felt like home. The Marazul Resort where it is located is great also. The views of the sunset we had each night was just outstanding. We did dive just down the stairs from our unit and saw some amazing creatures like spotted eagle rays, turtles, lots of different kinds of sea life not to forget the structures of the corals where just outstanding. The dive shop was just at the El Rancho which was just on the right of the unit. It was absolutely fantastic. I would definately recommend this unit and place. Wonderful Experience
My wife and I spent the month of February in Stella and Patricks condo in Curacao. The condo was well equipped, the view off the deck was fantastic and the wifi is better than anything we have in the states. Rene, the caretaker, was wonderful to work with. We had a problem with a refrigerator and he was quick to solve the problem and had the fridge replaced with a new one. The snorkeling from the resort is fantastic. We visited several of the neighboring beaches but the best snorkeling by far was right there at the resort. The bed was great and the shower provided plenty of hot water. It was a great 30 days in Curacao and I would highly recommend staying at Stella and Patricks condo.

We spent 9 blissful nights in this lovely, secluded spot. Very comfortable, beautiful views and the last condo at the end of this nice complex. Winding stone steps down to the ocean and a gorgeous pool surrounded by flowers. We drank our morning coffee on the upper veranda, and dined on the porch downstairs every day. There was always a breeze and no mosquitos! Westpunt is far from the tourist crowds and has all the best beaches, bountiful snorkeling, and such nice people. The Marazul resort is very well maintained, and a gated community too. We dined out about four evenings and had some of the best food we've ever had in the Caribbean (St. Martha, Trio Penotti and Sol Food!). Great vacation! Thank you Stella and Patrick!

Less than excellent
I would have given this an excellent review. However, in order to wash dishes you needed to boil water. There is no hot water in the kitchen sink. We asked the manager about this and he said 80% of the units did not have hot water in the Kitchen sink, but most had dishwashers. This one has neither. The only way to get the dishes degreased is to boil water. This is less than excellent. Stella, you need to put in a dishwasher or have the hot water
installed in the kitchen. I heard neither was difficult to do.

Feels like home.
I choose this place based on some reviews and pictures, after some email exchanged with Stella and Patrick I was sure that I would stay there, all ways very patience to reply all my questions and give me a bunch of tips. When arrived I felt in home, everything very clear and organised. Next day we felt so relaxed with the view that we didn't anything beside stay in the sofa looking to the see. At morning you don't need the air conditioning in the living room, just open the windows and will have a nice breeze. The Local manager is extremely kind and always available to help you with some infos and tips. You can snorkeling just 30m from your door or relax at pool or even enjoy the iguanas around the area, probably you will meet Igor the iguana. :)
The location is also good with some restaurants around and the best beaches as well. Playa Grandi the smallest one is just a 1 or 2 km. Kenepa Grandi is not so far and it is amazing, near buy still have Kenepa Chic and Lagun, jeremy and Santa Cru. For us the best one was Cas Abou, a little bit far but good.
We had only one problem that actually was not so bad that was 3 days without internet at end of our stay and we couldn't keep family and friends updated until arrive the airport.
I really recommend it and I hope to come back in another season beside the rainy one. :)

We loved our stay.
The place looked much better than the pictures. The location was beautiful. The place was comfortable and roomy. It was just like the pictures.
The property was expertly maintained. Any problems were fixed or taken care of quickly.
The manager was excellent. He had extensive knowledge of the area and acted as a tour guide.
I would recommend this property. The snorkeling was excellent on Curacao. In addition, the snorkeling was good just off this property. All one had to do was walk out the front door and go snorkeling.
I plan to go back.

Great stay in the north of the island!!
We stayed 7 days in the townhouse and just loved it! The owners gave us a very detailed list of supermarkets, restaurants and other facilities around. The house is just exactly like it looks on the photos! The fully equipped kitchen is perfect to cook for yourself, especially when there are not many restaurants around and the prices are quite high.
I would always recommend this place and maybe we will come back one day!
The location is wonderful, with just steps from the sea. Of course it´s quite up there, but it was just what we were searching for and the best beaches of Curacao are just minutes away!
I hope I come back one day, we enjoyed every day at the townhouse!

Mike and Tina (Early 50's) Stayed 6 nights
Our first VRBO experience and our first time to Curacao. We were a bit apprehensive and nervous being first timers, but boy are we ever glad we made both choices and forged ahead with renting this property and visiting this Island. Everything about this Villa is as exactly as the owner and pictures have represented. Communication with him was excellent, all of our questions were quickly answered and he is very trustworthy. He even surprised us with a phone call very early in the process of renting the property. The MDR property is beautiful and the Villa more than met our needs. It is very clean and well stocked for your stay with cooking utensils, plates, silverware, etc. Some snorkel equipment and beach toys, outside chairs and tables, bath and beach towels, wifi and satellite tv. Just pack your swimsuits, clothes, and personal items, then stop for your groceries and libation needs at Centrum (on your initial drive to the west end) and are you are golden. (navigating the island is easy...rent a car). The unit is an end unit and a very nice breeze cools the unit naturally. Air Conditioning is available but not a necessity. And the western view has the most beautiful sunsets you will ever see. The Westpunt area is peaceful and relaxing and we felt very safe. Property is gated. There is a wonderful pool for afternoon/after dive relaxation. Manager on site who actually stops by to check on you. Masseuse available. We cooked 3 dinners at the Villa and dined at Sol Food twice, and El Rancho once. Both eateries are good but Sol Food and its owner "Sunshine" are our favorites. Both are located only minutes away from the property. I can't find words to express how happy we are in making the choice to stay at this Villa and to visit Curacao. We were both near tears at our departure and are both missing it immensely as I type this review. We will definitely be back and highly recommend and endorse this owner and property. We wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else on the Island.

Great private condo - Would stay there again.
We (early 30 y/os) spent 8 nights at the condo and we really enjoyed everything.
Remember that Westpunt is the quieter part of the island and there are not a lot of restaurants. So it's helpful that that the condo is fully equipped so that you can keep your breakfast and/lunch in the refrigerator.
We spent one day snorkeling around the edge but did not notice the reef was 30 yards straight out. We did see quite a few fish though.
You will need/want a car staying here, and then you will have enough beaches to explore to keep you busy for quite a few days. Even though it was small, I really liked the beach Kalki (Playa Kalki). It's great for snorkeling and the GoWest Dive shop is right there as well. It's a small parking lot, so get there early or be prepared to park along the road.
We went out for dinner at various places around Westpunt and found Landhuis Misje to have good food for dinners. They are a little expensive, but the Shrimp Pasta and the Ceviche were great. (all food there was good).
I think people from the states just need to realize that this island is not a super duper resort island destination where chefs around the world are cooking for you.
It's local people that live there trying to make a living. So yes, the food is not up to par with what you will get at a Steven Starr in Philadelphia or NYC. It is fairly expensive, because of the location but as long as your expectations are adjusted to where you are, you will be fine. We enjoyed every meal we ate, except maybe at Jaanchies Restaurant, it was so-so. Pizza at El Sol was a nice for lunch (Fri-Sun).
One thing I would have liked to know before hand though, is that the island has ants. They are small but there are a lot of them.
Do NOT leave any food out at all. We made that mistake the first night when we arrived. You will find your food covered in ants if you leave it out even for 10 minutes. All food needs to be put in the refrigerator. Then there is no problem.
If you're looking for a quiet private condo and life is relaxed, then this is perfect.
If you're looking for all the amenities of the states, well, then this island is not for you.
Maybe staying in the city might fit more closely, but you might pick another destination.
Lastly - the people on the island are very very friendly. Everybody I talked to was super helpful even when I got a flat tire.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the condo!

Ideally located place overlooking the sea
We've just spent 12 days at this very comfortable location and we highly recommend the place. The townhome is clean, in excellent conditions and in line with owners description. Communication with the owners and "resort" management team were very easy and enjoyable.
The terrace and the upstairs large sun terrace on this particular unit at "Marazul Dive Resort" is awsome providing both, a very nice view on the sea and a side view on the nearby spleeping volcano mountains and wild semi-arid natural environment (many tropical birds, iguana, friendly geicos, humming birds...can be observed at breakfast or around a glass of wine in the evening.)
For divers & snorkelers like us, an excellent reef is accessible right below the unit, at only 30m/30+ yards from the shore. We managed to swim with sea turtles on our very first dive there ! Many such dives can be done directly from the shore from this location enjoying every day 100 feet / 30 m++ visibility in calm water.
Playa Forti, Playa Kalki, Playa Kenepa/Abou, Playa Jeremi, Playa Lagun, Playa Santa Cruz (Mushroom Forest & Blue Cave)....are all almost "private" white sand beaches away from the crowd with nice snorkling & diving reefs & only minutes away from this remote and very relaxing location.
As long as you have a rental car, Westpunt and the place are ideally located for divers and non divers, far from the crowd but still at only
- 30 yards to a calm sea, accessible through nice stairs nicely build on coral limestone cliff
- 300 yards to Playa Forti a white sand beach with crystal clear water.
- 5-10 minutes drive to National Parks, some nice museum such "Tula" and many dream beaches
- 35-45 minutes drive to Willemstadt and busy nights
- 30 minutes drive from the airport.
A very happy couple (both 37 years old) from France having stayed right there in march 2013.

where to stay in Curacao!
we were lucky to find exactly the right place to pass our 14 days vacation in Curacao. We are a +70 years old couple, looking for a clean and comfortable appartment on the island. Our expectations were not only met, but surpassed. Everything was clean and well kept. The service delivered by the management was competent , friendly and complete.
The surroundings are beautyful, attractive beaches nearby. But be prepared to drive some distance if you want to find places for shopping; a car seems to be absolutely necessary! Do not miss to visit (also nearby) Christoffel and Shete Boka National parks.

The house was just as described, very clean, with all amenities necessary for a perfect holiday...
The best beaches of the island are a few minutes by car, as the best diving sites... I'd recommmend Ocean Encounters West, five minutes from the house close to the Kura Hulanda Lodge...
The view and sunset from terrace is stunning, and as it's the last house of the resort, it's very calm and you can enjoy a 200° view on the surrounding mountains and sea...
Owners were very nice and helpful before our stay, as were the tenants on site whenever we needed anything...
A car is mandatory as the first supermarket and ATM are a 15 min drive from the house, and will allow you to visit the island and all the beaches on the west coast...
Overall a perfect holiday...

My husband, son and I just got back from 12 days in beautiful Curacao, and were happy we chose the option of renting this unit over a hotel. The townhouse was comfortable, with every amenity and feature we could desire (2 bathrooms, A/C, fully functional kitchen, cable TV, internet access on property, laundry facilities, etc.) -it was peaceful and truly relaxing with a stunning ocean view and conventiently located (between a 5 to 30 minute drive to some of the best beaches in Curacao). The property is well maintained and the managers were kind, helpful and always available. I would highly recommend this to anyone (with kids or without) interested in more relaxation, and fewer crowds, while still having the opportunity to drive around Curacao for other sights, beaches and experiences.

If you are looking for idyllic surroundings, peace and quiet then this is your place. The townhouse was very comfortable with everything we needed to enjoy our 6 days there. It was close to all the beautiful diving locations but if you don't want to go anywhere you can dive right from the resort also. I highly recommend it to anyone who isn't looking for a noisy tourist trap.
