We stayed in an old building next to the castle with a rich history. A field marshal of the Danish army and later nuns lived here. It needs some renovation, but otherwise it is a unique place to stay with a soul. The whole complex, a castle and its surroundings, is beautiful and the atmosphere around it is peaceful and almost magical, with well preserved nature. We really enjoyed our stay and would like to come back.

A charming old castle and a new abbey (now converted to a conference center), very quiet. The restaurant was closed, but Grenaa is close if one needs to shop or dine out. Would definitely visit again.

We traveled in the off-season, so the reception was closed for the weekend. We never encountered any staff, and would have been unable to get any assistance if we had problems.

there was no one to contact after late evening arrival so getting key access was laborious

the location and the castle are absolutely marvelous, the staff very friendly and the breakfast very good.

WE couldn't sleep in the monastery, due to a wedding, so we slept in the small apartments on the grounds. Here it seems you go back in time by forty years, entering the room of your grandparents. The beds are tiny, my partner is almost 2 metres tall....nor are there double beds. It may be cleaned, but the carpets are old, the bathroom extremely mouldy, the smell is like entering an elderly home....I think that the rate is far too high for a room like that. It is actually very depressing. It may be simple, but it has to be comfortable and good. And be very clear that you will be staying in 'monastery style' beforehand. We are on holidays and see no romance here. We felt so uncomfortable that we left. I hope we can we can get the money back for the night stayed elsewhere.

The location was very nice, where it is close to Grenaa and 30 min distance from Ebeltoft. All staffs were kind and provided nice places to stay (Cozy) i would say. It looks all equipement for cooking and staying have been well managed. Wi-Fi works very well at room.

Since the building (apartment) itself is quite old one, so some noise come from neighbour room if they use water especially. Some sound flowing water through pipe come to our place and it was quite noisy at night.

Peace and quite.Nice Church.No TV.No noise.

What was there not to like?

Very quiet location with nature all around it. The apartment had all we needed. The surroundings are beautiful with bicycle and hiking trails, an excellent supermarket (LetKøb) nearby, and a good beach.

I wished there was access to more comfortable seating in the garden.
