Location.
Completely overrated and overpriced. Will not stay here again. Renovations. Long wait times. Lost bookings. Crazy extra charges.

Location
Facility is plain and old

Nothing.
Location, it was far from eating places and the place was going through a renovation with dust and unhelpful staff.

Staff were great. Pool was beautiful and the rooms were great.
I thought it was pricey

It was clean, comfortable and modern.
Not being informed about the hotel workers strike and then being woken up after a long. Night in universal studios, at 7am in the morning to loud banging and noises. California laws says you have to inform guests, we were not informed.

The rooms very comfortable and clean with a great view.

Food was yummy. Room was attractive and comfortable.
We were woken on 10/9/24 from 7-9AM by protesters outside with drums, horns and loud speakers. It was harrowing.

Location was central, pool was lovely
Construction in at the moment , toilets on level 12 dirty

The valet was the only amenity that was fully staffed. Everything else was crappy because all the staff was on strike!
I was charged prior to my stay. Why was my stay fully charged before I got there if the booking says pay at property?! The main problem was the hotel working we’re on strike. Every morning starting at 7am-6pm they weee outside yelling blowing horns and beating drums. This was extremely noisy and I could barely think because it was so loud. There were about 20 people marching in front of the building and on the sidewalk. We couldn’t barely even get into the building. We had no towels in the bathroom. I called the front desk several times and no one would pick up. So I had to flag someone down in the hallway and beg for towels to be restocked. This is totally unacceptable and ridiculous for the W I was expecting much more from this hotel chain but there reputation is no longer good in my opinion.

$72 per night for parking - too expensive.
It's not a family hotel.

Very little to be honest. One of the worst experiences I’ve had
We had bed bugs in our bed! My husband had to purchase steroid cream to put on all his bites from the bed and my hair has been itchy for days.
Then were was no sleep after all the protests outside the hotel by W employees.
Then a whole other range of other issues with staff and empty promises.
Our honeymoon has been ruined.
It’s been a traumatic time.

Central Hollywood location, location close to Beverly Hills, contemporary decor, view from 12th floor patio
5.0
the location is good, clean bed sheets, big room
I stayed there back in 2021, there was a nice coffee machine in the room.
This time, i was disappointed to see that there's no coffee machine in the room anymore (for the price we are paying!)
Also, the hotel forces you to spend $29 very day!
instead of doing better, they just try to rip off the gusts.
I will not stay there again.

There was very little to like. when we got there it was under renovation and we were not told about this. There was no grand foyer like the pictures. Checkin was moved to level 12 into the old nightclub which was very seedy in the light of day. Floors were filthy as were the walls. Dead cockroaches. For breakfast we sat on couches shoved together to form a makeshift restaurant in the end of the nightclub. There was jack hammering from the renovation and to top it off there were Marriott hobbit protestors beating drums and security to control them over working conditions. They have still not refunded the last $1001.30 charged to our credit card. We left within 24 hours due to this false advertising and poor conditions
Everything - it was a total joke, it should have been closed down whilst under construction

Location is ok, but lots of homeless outside. Staff are very helpful
Dirty, noisy building site

Unfortunately, there is not much more good to mention except of:
- Pool
- Location
- Room cleanliness
- View from the roof top
In summer 2017, we spent whole 10 days in the hotel and were quite satisfied then. Hoping to enjoy a good stay again, we have chosen the W Hotel in Hollywood again this time. Unfortunately, however, things have changed since 2017, and for the worse. Here are some negative experiences:
- Valet parking costs $72 USD per day (back then it was $49 USD).
- Due to construction work, the bar and the beautiful backyard with great ambience disappeared from the ground floor. Instead, a bar surrounded by gray cement walls was built on the 12th floor as a replacement.
- There are no more pool parties on weekends.
- There are no more nightlife activities on weekends.
- The number of bath towels was wrong every day, always too few were provided.
- The hotel reception was often unavailable via phone at all.
- No free WiFi for guests, the WiFi costs start at $15 USD per day (and per device probably too).
- Due to the construction site work, there was immense noise from the machines early in the morning. The construction noise made it impossible to sleep in.
- The lighting in the room was poor.
- Subsequent charging for room munchies, even though we were offered a daily voucher for it. Obviously there is a hitch here, please be careful in this case.

Customer service. Food. Prices.

Rooms are spacious
Property is going through some refurbishment works and some parts of the lobby were closed. We arrived at 3pm and the room was still not ready !! They asked us to wait for 1 hour as they kept insisting that check in time is 4pm which is quite tiring after a long flight

Parking was 71$ a night my friend who stayed with me, with no option to park yourselves, cost to park 2 cars was $142. Highway robbery. Also in every direction there were several service charges, so whatever you think you are going to pay, double it!

The location was good and the breakfast would have been a selling point if the hotel staff wasn't on strike.
We woke up every morning by the combined sounds of construction and the staff strike - whistles, drums, megaphone. Due to the strike the room wasn't clean, the pool area remained dirty, and the team still working struggled to keep up. Waiting for your valet parked car we had to listen to the strike noise for 20 minutes. My kids were scared and didn't understand.

Air conditioning
Stike downstairs and very noisy. Not able to sleep for 2 days and no internet and no drinking water
9.0
The amenities, the locations was close to everything and the complementary coffee.
The location is centralized but the building is near some smelly areas that are not kept up. We would walk to the store nearby and find someone pissing in the outer corner of the building.
Things were pricey here like food.

Convenient location
Protests outside starting at 6am

It was a nice setup.
The setup of the wet bar and sky deck was very confusing and I ended up having very limited access to the pool and bar because of it. Also, a hotel security guard threatened me. Initially, the hotel responded by upgrading me, but when I found out that the employee was still working there after the incident that struck me as very unacceptable given his verbiage.

The staff was friendly
The hotel was under staffed. Hotel (ex) employees were protesting at the entrance. The refrigerator was full of items to be paid (high prices) for if used. Very little room left for leftovers and drinks. There was no microwave in the room. No sitting area or sofa.
6.0
I like the convenience of the location and staff were friendly and helpful. The pool side restaurant had a limited menu due to construction but the staff were outstanding! Delicious food and beverages!
Valet parking and attendants were fabulous and very welcoming!
We expected the grand staircase and restaurant however both were not available due to construction. I wish this would have been mentioned prior to or at least upon arrival.
The robes were not made for a person with curves, not body positive. Plus the decorative pillow covers on the beds were tabloids with negative vibes - unnecessary!
