Only appliance that wasn't there that would have been nice was a toaster oven.
Property owner very responsive

This was a SUPER place to stay and Kathy our host was the best. She gave us great advice on where to go. From site seeing to eating choices. Kathy was an integral piece that made our vacation wonderful. She answered everyone of our many questions and gave great suggestions. We could not be more pleased. We will be back for sure.

Went to school at UAF 45 years ago. I have stayed at rentals all over the world and this one is the first to feel like home- dark and quiet, clean(immaculate),warm and very well-maintained. A joy just to sit here and relax. The neighborhood feels like a university student ghetto with a lot of military personnel too, but this is not meant as a detraction. Walkable and safe, with easy auto access to major highways. Fairbanks is a lot smaller than I remembered.
This owner provided everything one could want in a vacation cabin, with all the frills. The jacuzzi was especially nice. My wife and I agreed that this is the very first time in our 30+ years of marriage that we are returning home incredibly relaxed and sad, no very sad, to leave.

This little cabin in Fairbanks could not be better! The place was spotless, extremely well decorated and provisioned, and fulfilled all our expectations. The owner was extremely responsive and clear in all communications. We would definitely stay here again when next we are in Fairbanks.

Kathy is a great host and her rental exceeded all expectations! It was extremely well equipped with anything we could possibly need and the outdoor space was immaculate.
If I could give more than 5 stars for communication I would. She offered tons of helpful advice beforehand that assisted in planning out getaway. Highly recommend and would return if our fortunes allowed.

Cabin was great and had anything you want/need. Kitchen well stocked and even had milk, eggs and cereal already. Washer and dryer a nice bonus. Kathy was always available and great host. Close to things we wanted to do - museums, riverboat, restaurants were all within 10-20 minutes. Quiet neighborhood and friendly neighbors. Highly recommend.

What a great cabin. The location could not have been more convenient. The experience was 1000 times better than a hotel

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lead Dog Cabin! It had everything we needed and it was a perfect "home base" to return to after our adventurous outings around Fairbanks. I highly recommend and would definitely stay here again on our next trip north.

We were visiting Fairbanks and it was in a great location, because we were pretty close to most everything.

I never leave reviews but this surpassed all expectations. Not only a beautiful cozy cabin experience but the host goes above and beyond. We stayed in late April but there was still 4 feet of snow outside and still snowing for days. The host had the long driveway freshly plowed and offered to maintain it for our several day stay. She's a wonderful communicator, her advice helped us on multiple occasions and she provides tips only the locals know. Everything was spotless and so well stocked to feel like home. The fireplace was lovely, beds were so soft they felt like heaven, and the Jacuzzi tub was such a treat. Probably the easiest instructions ever to check in and out at guests convenience. We were amazed we actually saw the Aurora when everyone said we needed to go further from the city, but we admired them from every window of this house. So close to everything in town, but still felt like a vacation get away. I'm sure I'm forgetting more, but i really have nothing bad to say. It was spectacular and the only con was that we had to eventually leave. I would absolutely stay here again.

Beautiful cozy cabin, we watched the aurora from the living room windows. The kitchen is stocked with everything could possibly need. Kathy is a great resource for all the best things to do in Fairbanks. Can't wait to come back in the future!

We came for the Ice Carving Championship and left with some great memories. The house was exactly as advertised and SPOTLESS. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and some extras that were unexpected. Kathy was an amazing host and even drove me up the street to meet my family after my daughter fell on the ice slide in the park. She was definitely the best VRBO host we have had yet. Would recommend choosing this house and would return without hesitation.

Three of us arrived in Fairbanks from the South prior to the Start of the Iditarod wanting an experience, not just housing. All of us have always wanted to stay in a log cabin and Kathys home provided that and more. It was a respite from our New experiences in minus double digit temperatures; warm, homey, well supplied. We loved the large picture windows in the great room that allowed us to enjoy the beautiful snow anytime we were inside. Kathy kept the walkway and drive ready for us.
In addition to valuable information online,
Kathy led us to very special guides for dog sledding, snowmobiling and ice fishing.
We missed the northern lights but had fun exploring Chen’s Lakes Recreation area in the middle of the night.
We learned quickly that minus 20 was not as cold as we expected and we found Fairbanks and surrounding area a place we would love to live.
The Aurora train from Fairbanks to Anchorage was beyond description.
I highly recommend The Lead Dog Cabin. It is in a great location and close to our favorite restaurant, The Cookie Jar. It is the perfect place when you need a northern Alaska experience. This was our fifth trip to Alaska, but first to Fairbanks. Now that we are over our fear of the
Temperatures, it will be won’t be the last.
Kathy was a great hostess and is now we consider her our new Friend.

This place was exactly what I was expecting. It's a nice cabin that looks like what I expect from a cabin, but also with modern amenities so I was comfortable. The weather wasn't the best for our stay, so I'm really glad we had this place to stay in. Kathy is a great host and strikes a nice balance between giving privacy but also being very helpful and informative. Absolutely will want to stay here again when we come back.

The owner is lovely and has many great suggestions for visitors. I will definitely return!

My wife and I visited Fairbanks to see the Northern Lights for her 40th birthday. During the planning stage, we looked at various hotels, and after much consternation, ultimately decided to browse the offerings on VRBO. We were immediately taken with the pictures and reviews of Kathy’s Lead Dog Cabin and booked right away. I’m so glad we did! Kathy communicated with me multiple times before arrival and helped me plan the perfect trip with excellent suggestions on everything from local restaurants and activities to tips on Aurora chasing. She is a warm, accommodating host and, honestly, couldn’t be more lovely or knowledgeable. The cabin is spacious and has everything one could need, including a fully stocked kitchen and a jacuzzi tub to ease your muscles after a long night of Aurora watching. The beds are incredibly comfortable. Between the tub and the mattress, I was in heaven! My wife and I saw the Aurora on our second night while visiting Chena Hot Springs (incidentally, that’s a place you MUST visit but DO NOT stay there overnight...a day trip is enough; it’s much better to stay in comfortable accommodations—like Kathy’s cabin—in Fairbanks, and use that as a home base to explore the surrounding areas. Chena’s general upkeep leaves something to be desired).
If I could rate Kathy and her cabin a 6, I would. Definitely stay here. You will not be disappointed!

This property is perfect for business travelers as well as vacation guests. The ability to spread out and relax after a business day was greatly appreciated. The cabin was very well stocked and appointed. All of our needs were met. The owner was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area, which made the downtime that we had to explore more enjoyable. I will definitely return with my family as well as on business trips.

This house was perfect for our week in the Fairbanks area. Plenty of room and very comfortable. it was great to have the little touches of home that hotels don't have, like being able to get up and make coffee and breakfast and lounge around before getting ready for the day. The house was very clean and the owner provided thoughtful details to make everything easy. She was very easy to communicate with and offered great recommendations for our day trips.
The location was easy to find and only a few minute drive to downtown or the major roads to head out of Fairbanks. (and less than 15 minutes from the airport.) The neighborhood was quaint and quiet. If we ever make it back to Fairbanks again, I'd be happy to stay at this property.

This place is near everything in town; a few blocks from the expressway while still tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. We appreciated that the kitchen was stocked with anything we would need, and it was nice to have cable and wifi. Although the downstairs is occupied, the common spaces are not shared, except for the deck and backyard, which are both great places to relax! There are plenty of fans to keep you cool during a Fairbanks summer night, and the beds were very comfortable. The living room was a great place for us to spend down time, and it feels like a much larger space than what the pictures convey. Kathy was very accommodating of our dogs and us needing to arrive late after the long drive from Anchorage. We enjoyed our stay!

What more can I say? The log cabin, situated in a quiet neighborhood in Fairbanks, is charming and wonderful. Kathy was a great hostess. The house was clean and cozy. The listing was accurate.
The four of us, three adults and a teenager, slept comfortably. We enjoyed walks in the neighborhood and a long walk down College Road that has changed so much from my youth.
The wireless internet was a boon for my teenage son and his technology needs.
