Sawmill Creek Cottage (SJ County permit # 99SJ50) offers secluded peace for your island getaway. Comfortable and private, it is just a one mile from Friday Harbor. The 400 sq. ft. cottage is the original caretaker's cottage from the '50's. It is small, but ushered into the modern world with renovated bathroom, separate bedroom with a respected Tempur-Pedic brand queen bed, and full kitchen. The kitchen has a quartz counters and new appliances, including washer/dryer. After researching sleeper sofas for the living room, American Leather sleeper sofa won us over with it's comfort. The cottage sits on a shared low bank beach on a small salt water cove known as Argyle Lagoon. There is a pond and stream on one side, which provides privacy and acts as a natural boundary. You will share the property with blue herons, kingfishers, eagles, and the occasional deer or fox, and watch the moon rise bigger than life over North Bay at dusk. Enjoy the outdoor firepit in the evenings. The secluded yard offers a patio table and barbecue. Blackberry pies are there for the picking in early autumn. My favorite part of my stay at this cute and cozy waterfront cottage was having my coffee in the mornings with a beautiful sunrise! There was everything my friend and I needed at the cabin plus we were amazed by all the wildlife we got to see on our adventures on the island. So fun!

Loved everything about the cottage. Home was beautifully kept with all amenities needed. Privacy setting with amazing bay views. Great location right outside of Friday Harbor. Owner was friendly and accommodating with great communication. Will definitely stay again!

The property was very well designed and organized, it was perfect for a long weekend on the island for two adults. There were thoughtful touches all throughout and the beach view was beautiful. It gets chilly at night in the cottage so pack warm clothes to layer. Very nice location from Friday Harbor. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning.

This place is an absolute gem. Only one mile from downtown but you feel like you are out in the country. Gorgeous view from the picture windows. It is immaculately clean with top of the line furnishings and decor. Phebe has included many amenities to keep you organized in a small space. She even supplied the coffee and soap for the washing machine. This cottage has plenty of room for two people. We rented mopeds from Susie's Mopeds and spent the day riding around the island taking in the views and fresh air. Sabrina's Secret Kitchen has excellent sandwiches on homemade bread. I also recommend the Chile Relleno Omelet at Rocky Bay Cafe. All three of these places are within a one mile walk.

The cottage is very nice, very clean, and it has a great view! We appreciated Phebe’s notes regarding us celebrating our late honeymoon, and it was very sweet! We were not able to meet her during our stay, but we talked with her over the phone and we can tell that she is very kind person. We enjoyed our stay in the cottage and the wildlife outside. It is conveniently located and just a few minutes away from Friday Harbor. We had a few meals where we just got takeout and came back to the cottage so we can enjoy it with the view. We got different views with high or low tides attracting different birds. We saw a bald eagle flying through one time, a big goose family lining up walking to the bay, a heron catching food, and many kinds of cute little birds. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our recent stay in the Sawmill cottage. Phebe was great in getting us an earlier check in time, and i appreciate how clean and kept it was. We also loved sitting outside just enjoying the waterfront view. Proximity to town was perfect. Thanks for a lovely stay on the island!

Very close to Friday Harbor but seems like country! Wildlife, water, fire pit..just very nice and quiet, also historical. Owners are very responsive! Had a wonderful time!

All the other reviews are spot on. The house is so cozy and romantic. It feels rustic and has a fun history, yet there are still all the modern necessities you need. The views from the windows are magical, from the trees blooming and swaying in the wind, to the small stream and bay. Everything was super clean, the bed was really comfortable, and the little woodstove added to the warmth and atmosphere. Kudos to the owners for creating such a great experience. My husband and I thought it was a perfect spot to spend our 20 year anniversary.

Thid place was amazing. Quiet neighborhood. Peaceful bay. Lots of wildlife, including the black fox. Owners have thought of everything to make it comfortable and convenient. Reminded us of older style cabins on seashores across the west coast. Pictures reflect actual comforts

This is an amazing cabin with the best location! It's close enough to town but far enough away to make you feel very secluded and private. Phebe is an awesome host! The cabin is clean and very well organized with thoughtful touches throughout. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I stayed at Sawmill CreekCottage so that we could bicycle San Juan and Lopez Island. This cottage is perfect for two people and has everything one needs. Phebe has nice decorative touches and amenities throughout the cottage. We so enjoyed sitting on the lawn to watch the wildlife on Argyle Cove. This location/cottage is a little paradise.

We spent the beginning part of our honeymoon here after arriving by float plane. It was the perfect spot for us. So peaceful and comfortable. We loved walking to town and sitting in all the beautiful outdoor seating. We will definitely be back to celebrate anniversaries.

I will not be able to find enough words to give this wonderful place and the kind hosts the credit that is due! When I pulled into the driveway I just sat and stared for a moment, It’s beautiful. The cottage is so clean, comfortable, and stocked with everything you could think of needing. The hosts communication is excellent, they are so friendly and truly make sure you have every thing you need. The fire pit was my favorite ending to each evening, the water view was so nice and I would just sit and enjoy the view. The cottage is in a very convenient close to town setting but very private and very quiet. I will definitely rebook over and over!

The cottage was well equipped and was very cozy. I enjoyed sitting outside in the Adirondack chairs enjoying a cold beverage and views of the beach. It was very quiet at night and the bed was very comfortable so I had very restful sleep. Thanks for your hospitality.

This is the cleanest, most comfortable place-with great hosts! If you would like privacy and quiet, but close in to town- this is your place. The little wood stove is so cozy and everything you need is right there. It is our second time staying here and we hope to be back!

I wanted an accessible spot to spend a weekend alone. The cottage and grounds were relaxed and homey. The interior was bright, cheerful, and spotless. On low-bank waterfront property and with a second beach within comfortable walking distance on a quiet "country" road. The owners were easy to reach with a few questions and were always quick to respond. Certainly a place I'd like to return to.

I can’t say enough good things about this rental and the hosts. Location is incredible, just a mile out of town and right on a quiet beach. The home was so cozy and clean. Phebe checked in to see if we needed anything (we didn’t!) and left contact information. The hosts have thought of everything, down to outdoor blankets, wood for the fire pit, and all utensils we could need in the kitchen. We can’t wait to come back and stay here longer!

This well appointed cottage absolutely delivers on the quiet. It would be a perfect getaway for one person for longer term, a little tight for two if you're planning to cook. Great sound system, too bad we don't understand how to work cable. Only issue is bedding...can you be too hot with down? Yes. Otherwise delightful setting, hosts who respect privacy and near everything worth seeing on the island.
