Acadia National Park: Acadia National Park: In 1913, President Woodrow Wilson set aside 6000 acres (within what is now Acadia National Park) as Sieur de Monts National Monument. With the acquisition of more land and private support and funding, in 1919 President Wilson signed an act establishing Lafayette National Park. In 1929 the park's name was changed to Acadia. Acadia National Park was established to protect the area's spectacular scenic values, Maine's rock bound coast, its coastal and its offshore islands as characterized by the geologic features, natural history and the native plant and animal life. Forty five miles of rustic carriage roads weave around the mountains and through the valleys of Acadia National Park, the gift of philanthropist John D Rockefeller, Jr., and family. Rockefeller, a skilled horseman, desired to travel on motor free byways via horse and carriage into the heart of Mount Desert Island. His efforts resulted in roads with sweeping vistas and close up views of the landscape. Cadillac Mountain: Cadillac Mountain: At 1,530 feet, Cadillac Mountain is not only the tallest mountain in Acadia National Park, but also the tallest mountain along the eastern coast of the United States. Rising high above the town of Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain offers magnificent views of the Porcupine Islands and Frenchman Bay. Explore the summit of this granite mountain along a .3-mile trail, which includes wayside exhibits about natural and human history. Portions of this trail are accessible to wheelchair users. Cadillac Mountain is accessible via a winding, narrow, 3.5-mile road. The road is closed from December 1 through April 14 and whenever weather conditions (e.g., dense fog or ice) require. The house we stayed in was perfect. The view of the lake was so wonderful especially at sunrise. It had everything we needed! Lots of room for 12 of us but yet cozy enough to be together! Owner was quick to respond when WIFI went out. Little bit of a drive to Acadia and other locations of interest but the scenery this time of year was beautiful!

Well appointed property, right on the lake, not too far from Acadia National Park. Very clean. Fire pit with wood and s’more fixings was a nice touch.

This house was perfect for us. The dock to fish off of in the morning when the kids wake up was great. The access to the canoe and kayaks was added fun. It's a short trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia national park. The house is large, spacious, clean and very cozy. The owners were responsive and accommodating. We would love to stay here again in the future!

We fell in love with this home and it's location. There were 8 of us and have been to Maine many times. We had plans to go site seeing, but once we got to this home those plans changed quickly. We decided just to relax and stay there the whole week. We only left to run into Ellsworth for groceries. The General store is also a great source for last minute items and their pizza is pretty darn good. Lord willing we will be back.

The house great, clean, on the water with free access to kayaks, canoes, and you can rent a pontoon if you desire. We didn’t have any dire need to contact the host during our stay but checkin was via email and that’s all we needed. The house is pretty much as listed - upstairs is open kitchen, living room, dining room, seating area by wood stove, 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. The upstairs bedrooms have queen/twin bunk setup in the front room and a queen bed in the spacious back bedroom. The downstairs has a family seating area with TV, great recliner couches and has patio door that opens to the backyard. There are 3 bedrooms downstairs - 2 are spacious and the room to the back is smaller but all have ample closet space for longer stays. Also downstairs is a full bathroom and laundry room. The backyard has a great fire pit we used every night, loungers if it’s sunny and warm when you visit and the water dock is unbeatable for your morning coffee spot. The neighbors are quiet, the road is dirt and busy but you can walk your dog or yourself if you need to get your steps in. If you have your own boat/jet skis there’s a public boat launch less than 1/4 mile down the road. It’s in a good location away from the madness of Bar harbor, but still easy to get there if you want to head that way. Ellsworth which is very nearby has some good eating spots and shopping. Would definitely stay again.

Fantastic house. Plenty of room for 11. Well stocked and comfortable. I especially appreciated the laundry baskets (of all things).
