Incredible Sunsets! Includes Pontoon Boat, paddleboards, kayaks + no wake cove
About this house rental
Located on a wide and quiet cove in the prime location on Lake Lure to take in panoramic views of the mountains, Chimney Rock, Hickory Nut Gorge....especially for viewing beautiful sunsets across the lake. The classic Lake Lure sunset view is the view from our dock! The rental includes the use of our 20 foot pontoon boat, 3 paddleboards and 2 kayaks for your entire stay. Very few homes include a pontoon boat with their rental. Note that renting a similar pontoon boat on the lake on an individual basis costs $700+/day and the paddleboards and kayaks rent on the lake for $70+/day... so by renting our house, pontoon, and kayak bundle you receive $1000 day of incredible bonus amenities. Plus, you have access to the boat and pontoon at anytime, can go out when you want and not be tied to a particular day or time. Touring around the lake brings a whole new appreciation for the lake and finding the various rope swims and etc. around the lake is a lot of fund. Also, going to lunch or dinner by boat to the two restaurants on the lake is an unique experience. Sunset on the boat from the middle of the lake is incredible!...something that is only available to those that stay at our house. Our house is in widest part of Sunset Cove which is a no-wake cove that allows for lots of privacy as well as protected swimming, floating as well as quiet fishing from the dock. There are also great views across the expanse of the main part of the lake from the house and the dock. The location has the best of everything! Our dock and boat house was enlarged in 2023 and has an extra large dock area for playing, fishing and easily maneuvering the kayaks in and out of the water. It also includes a large raised deck 15 ft off the water with lounge chairs. The dock and boathouse area is a fantastic area to relax down by the lake, watch family and friends swim and play in the water as well as enjoy sunset. The deck and boathouse also provide shade down at the lake throughout the day. There is a refrigerator and bluetooth connectable sound system on the dock to make it easy to spend the day down 'on the water'. In addition, a 20 foot watermat($150) available to rent for your entire stay. The watermat is an absolute blast to play and float on. The house includes high speed wifi(1GBs) and local and long distance calling(US only). In 2019, we added a new refrigerator, stove and microwave in the kitchen...we love to cook so we needed an upgrade! We also have the extra refrigerator in the lower level for extra cold storage and less visits to the grocery store. We also added a refrigerator down at the dock. We also continue to enhance our landscaping and hillside to improve the view from our home and expand the forest on our hillside for additional privacy at our house as well as down at the dock. Road access to our house is ideal via a private road that is less than half mile off of Highway 74 allowing you to avoid the many twists and turns required to reach some areas of Lake Lure - and only 5 minutes from the full size Ingles grocery store. The structure of our home is designed to make the most of this ideal location. It has the feel of a mountain home with its peaked roof and cedar exterior. It is surrounded by century old trees proving shade, privacy, and the feeling of being in a mountain retreat. Situated at the top of the hill overlooking the lake allows for easy access when unloading or loading the car as well as making the most of the amazing views. You enter the main room to vaulted ceilings of rich wood that provide an open and airy feeling. There is a beautiful fieldstone fireplace which provides a cozy atmosphere in the summer and especially in the fall/winter...further adding to the mountain retreat atmosphere. The center piece of the home is the two plus stories of windows that provide expansive views of the lake and the mountains. The open floorplan allows guests to sit and talk, work in the kitchen and eat dinner - all while taking in the spectacular views. The configuration of the house is a main floor, upper floor and lower floor. The main floor has a private bedroom with a queen bed and a full bathroom. The upstairs has a bedroom with a queen bed and a private half bath. The bedroom connects to a loft which overlooks the main room and has full view of the floor to ceiling windows and fireplace. Sky lights also add to a feeling that you are living in the trees. The loft has a trundle bed (two twin beds). The lower floor is a large master suite which includes a sitting area and floor to ceiling sliding glass doors that also look out over the lake. It has a king bed and one trundle bed (two twin beds). The lower bedroom also has a full bath. If you choose for this to be a 'kids room,' it has a TV and plenty of room for games and etc. allowing parents to quietly enjoy the view upstairs. The downstairs opens out onto a covered deck with chairs for enjoying the views in the shade. If you choose to use this room as an adult room, it is a great place to cool down and relax. Not only does the inside of the house make the most of the location, so does the outside. There are two large decks extending out to the lake. The upper deck extends off the main level and is perfect for barbecuing (there is a gas grill) and enjoying dinner outside. The lower deck extends off the master suite/kids room and is a perfect place to enjoy some shade and quietly read a book in the afternoon. Both provide an amazing views of the lake and the mountains. In addition to the views from the house, you can take in the view while sitting on the dock or go for a swim in the protected no-wake cove. Sunset from the dock is something not to be missed! When you desire even more adventure, take out the pontoon boat, paddle boards, or the kayaks which are included with the rental of the house! As the location and home provide a feeling of immediately being on vacation, we want our service to as well. Therefore, we have worked to provide every convenience necessary. Your first experience of this will be when our caretaker, Debbie, works with you to prepare your visit and she can also give you a tour of the house and demonstrate how to use the boat. Our house also includes a full kitchen with dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and plenty of dishes and utensils for cooking and eating. For entertainment, there are three flat screen TVs and plenty of games for adults and kids(stored up in the closets in the loft). We also provide an assortment of beach towels. In addition, there is a washer and dryer in a large laundry room to also help keep packing to a minimum. When you are ready to head outside, you will find numerous chairs for lounging and tables for outdoor dining. If you are interested in the local area, we share with guests a list of places that we like to go that we have put together over 10+ years. Every year there is more to do and see around Lake Lure! Finally, when you have enjoyed your day to the utmost, you will find fully made beds with down comforters ready for you to fall into and enjoy a peaceful nights sleep listening to the sounds of the lake and the forest. PLEASE NOTE: 2006, The Town of Lake Lure passed a regulation in 2006 that makes it unlawful for rented boats to tow skiiers or tubes, etc behind the boat. In addition, the stairs from our house to our wonderful dock are approximately 100 steps . My husband and I had a wonderful week with amazing views of Lake Lure and mountains. Everything we expected, very peaceful, just what we needed.

The family had a wonderful time at this lovely lake house. The views from the dock are amazing and there are plenty of activities to keep the whole family occupied for weeks. It was great having a boat to cruise around the lake and the kayaks and water mat were a big hit. We are already planning on coming back for a longer stay next time.

I'm sure you can see everything included in the rental. The entire package offered made our stay fantastic! The owner was very communicative when responding to questions, any concerns etc. I suggest hitting the step master a couple weeks before the trip, the stairs for flatlanders became a great workout! Thanks so much for opening your home!!! We all loved it!

This was our first time at Lake Lure. The house was great the caretaker was very informative and friendly. We will definitely be back. The owner does need to cut some trees so you can see the lake a little better.

Lake Lure is beautiful in the fall and this was a great place to stay!

Loved the place. Nice and peaceful and private up in the trees. Nice views from the deck and house and unbeatable views from the dock area. Kayaks and paddleboards were a hit and swimming off the dock was fun. Hiking nearby was great. As mentioned there are some stairs to get to the lake like but our fam didn't mind and the kids aged 3 - 8 were fine on them. Special place, hope to return, thanks for sharing!

We had an excellent time with our family. The dock was perfect and had a beautiful view of the mountains. Having access to the pontoon was an added bonus. All in all everyone had a wonderful time and the grandchildren were already talking about when they coul return!

Great location but needs work.
Great location on the lake! Easy to drive to house with paved road and not too high. Safe cove to swim in. Fun dock and kayaks and stand up paddle boards. Boat and motor very old and you cannot tube or raft behind it because of lake rules. The house is VERY outdated. Carpet needs to go. Bathrooms need complete remodel Be aware that there are 100 plus stairs down to the dock. Slippery after rain. The property has a lot of potential, but needs a lot of work. We did have a good time overall.

The location and the view from dock can’t be beat. The dock is large and has a covered sitting area as well. The fact that the rental came with a boat made the experience 10/10. The dock has stairs to a shallow swimming area that my 3 year old loved. Our older boys loved jumping off the dock and swimming to the ladder. It was also nice being in a no wake zone cove. The view of the sunset over the mountains was absolutely beautiful. The lake itself is peaceful and not too busy. The house is older, but had more than enough space for our family of five and stocked with everything we could need. As noted in the description, there are a lot of stairs down to the dock, but for us it was worth it to spend the day down at such an amazing lake location. Chimney Rock is a short drive away and we hiked from there to Hickory Nut Falls. We also took the boat to Lakeside Restaurant as recommended by Tim and had lunch on the water. Thanks, Tim, for a great week! We hope to be able to visit again soon.

Perfect time
The house was clean and well appointed. There were plenty of lake toys to keep ourselves busy with and the location on the lake was phenomenal with its view. The only thing would be the amount of stairs you had to take from the house to the dock. Could be an issue if you had anyone who had trouble with stairs. Would stay again.

The pictures do not do this house justice. Its very comfortable, clean, well stocked, plenty of towels , plenty of room. Having the boat was just the cherry on top.
All that and more but the absolute best part was the whole rental process with the owner Tim and his house manager Deb.
I just cant say enough of how kind & sweet they are. Really made our trip to Lake Lure very special I will definitely be renting from them again. Also the view from the dock is amazing:)) Thank you Tim & Deb for everything. You really made our week.

Tim's lake house was the perfect spot for our family's fall getaway. Before our stay, Tim was super responsive when we had a couple of questions. Debbie, the caretaker, was also easy to reach once we arrived to check-in.
The house itself had plenty of room. The kids enjoyed playing in the upstairs loft and we enjoyed the lower level suite with the beautiful lake view. We also spent a lot of time on the main level and porch with a beautiful lake view. We were even entertained with some live music from a wedding ceremony across the cove one afternoon.
Other reviewers mentioned the many stairs down to the dock, but it wasn't too big of a deal for us, even with small kids. I thought it was well worth it for the cabin views. The dock is situated on a quiet cove with plenty of space to swim and kayak. We enjoyed taking out the pontoon boat a couple times as well. It's definitely a huge perk!
The house is also located in a great spot on the lake. It has great views of the lake--especially at sunset. It's also really convenient to the main drag of Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, and a grocery store. We've stayed further north on Lake Lure before, and it's nice having less winding roads en route to other places.
We had a great experience and hope to stay here again next year!

My husband and 3 grown sons and their small families, had a wonderful time at this cabin. Lake Lure is halfway between the 2 married sons' homes (3.5 hr to each) so it's location was great. The area is so beautiful!! The cabin was clean, well stocked and Debbie, the host/manager, was wonderful. She made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. She even purchased baby gates for the 2 sets of stairs because we had our 18 month old grand baby with us. The 100+ steps to the water were a challenge, but we all considered it an opportunity for exercise! The only negative we found is that since the bedrooms on the top floor and bottom floor had no door to close, it was difficult not to wake others who had different sleep schedules, i.e. staying up late talking/laughing/tv, etc. , early risers with the baby. Overall we had a wonderful time. Thanks Debbie!

Exactly what we were hoping for
We had a wonderful stay at Lake Lure. This was our first visit to the area and we would definitely like to go back. The house was exactly as advertised and had everything we needed. We had a great time on the water, using the boat, hiking, and going horse back riding. We would definitely stay at the house again!

House was good although a bit dated. Boat and amenities fabulous. We had the misfortune of being there during a very bad storm which caused power and water to go out. Debbie, the caretaker very kindly came out at night to bring us candles so we wouldn’t be sitting in the dark!Ended up having to cut our stay short and head home due to no power and no water. There are no quick fixes in this area and power/water still out as I write this review a few days later.

The property was just as stated. We really enjoyed our stay. Totally enjoyed the kayaks and the boat!! Very good added incentive. May have been a lol boring without it since Covid is here and beach was closed. Only complaint are the stairs and the hairs in bathroom floors. Other than that it was superb! Will I come back??? Yes but please install an elevator to the dock!!

Perfect for adults and teens!
Perfect Fall get away for our family of four (2 adults, 2 teens). 100ish steps from the lake could be a challenge with littles, but for adults and teens, this is a great property. Teens can kayak, swim, chill at the cabin or on the dock. Adults can do all of that plus boat cruises on beautiful Lake Lure. The Village of Chimney Rock offered great eateries, shops, etc. Chimney Rock itself was a great excursion and the view from the top is breathtaking. Debbie did a great job checking us in and staying in touch. A fantastic experience! We WILL return!!

We really enjoyed our stay at Sunset Cove. The cove is so peaceful and beautiful. We certainly took advantage of swimming and floating off the spacious dock where we spent most of our time. The boat gave us wonderful tours and photo ops of the lake. Well appointed home from linens to kitchen gadgets. The house is 5 minutes from the supermarket (no need to shop ahead as they have everything you will need). Thank you for sharing your home!

Wonderful property, thoroughly enjoyed the boat and kayaks! The views are even better than advertised. There were plenty of adventures to go on throughout our week stay at Lake Lure. We even got used to all the steps and found that some of the landings make great bird blind observation decks. Highly recommend.
