Overall decent stay for a full week. Can’t beat the view or large private lot with dock. You can sit in the backyard or on the dock and just take it all in for hours. It’s very pretty. Allowing dogs was a big positive.
Location - it is 30 mins from any restaurant unless you take a boat but it’s a minute from boat ramp. It is on the main part of the lake so you can’t keep your boat tied down due to all of the wake.
I’m writing the rest here as not an unhappy guest but more for improvements for the owners. This can be a killer rental (and it still may be) but it just needs some TLC.
Interior - Pots and pans all need to be replaced. We ended up buying two cast iron pans. There are so many electrical switches that either don’t work or not hooked up. Ms Pac Man never booted up. TVs worked and cable too. Wi-Fi needs an upgrade - likely the router.
The host got someone to clean all of the windows and deck within an hour and it was so needed. Layout is choppy and not conducive for larger families to congregate in one room. We were a party of 6 which was fine. Two separate kitchens unnecessary.
It’s all just a little dated and things will break. For example, the slide lock on the back porch door was rotted and just fell off after the first day. We used a screwdriver the rest of the stay.

We visit SML every summer- This house has the best location and views of any home we have ever rented in SML. We enjoyed the 4th of July fireworks from Parkway Marina right from the side lawn, playing Ms Pac Man and the beautiful views during our meals from the large windows. The upstairs game room was a favorite hangout.
We wished the house was cleaner upon our arrival. There were many cobwebs high along the ceiling but also around picture frames. The layout of the home is not great for a large family as it is an older home with many small rooms. Finally, while some of the neighbors were very friendly the neighbor immediately next door watched our every move and did not seem to be very happy with a rental property next to his home.

Let me start by saying the location and lake view,lake access was gorgeous and great. The house could use some tender love and care. The owner should always have a good sweeper in the rental when dogs are allowed . All the shower curtains need to be replaced. They need exterminator for ant problem. The cleaning service needs replaced the house was not clean to my standards they need to clean under and behind stuff. I paid a nice rental fee to stay in this home and a cleaning fee so I expect the house to not have dust bunnies cob webs bugs or dirt in every corner under table. We made the best of it after I spent a couple hours cleaning with no sweeper. The location was great we enjoyed the lake and family. Thanks

Okay, so it was a pain bringing our own toilet paper and linens. But the view ... I don't think there is a better view on SML. Seriously, we went in November and couldn't help sitting outside. Worth it.

The location of this home is wonderful. Beautiful views of the lake and mountains. Nice split floor plan, two homes basically attached and perfect for families traveling together. The sandy Beach is perfect for kiddos and easy walk from home to beach/dock for elderly family members

House looks much better in the pictures. The kitchens are very dated, the bathrooms are awful. The location is amazing, and so are the toys that come with the property.

Best View on the Lake
We had a great time at this house. Loved the view and wish I was still there. The neighborhood is quiet and small. The house is well equipped and clean and comfy. Beautifully decorated! Great having all the tubes, kayak and paddle boards. Awesome place!

Great Place, Fully Priced
Bella Vista is beautifully situated on the end of a peninsula with views of a park across the lake. The house layout is a bit awkward; kitchen amenities are very basic—not even a stray coffee filter. Outside amenities are great including paddle boards, a corn hole set, and even a tube we used to drag the kids around the lake (we had to get a rope when renting a boat). We also appreciated the playroom on the 2nd floor which was stocked with games. Overall, we would expect more for the price but were perfectly happy.
*Note* We had a terrible time getting in as the causeway that provides access to the house was flooded, forcing us to park a football field or more from the front door. The mgmt company did send a generic message that the lake was experiencing historic flooding, but we didn’t get a heads up about Bella Vista being inaccessible. Pat, the owner of the mgmt company, and her son were responsive and got us across in a truck. Not likely to happen again but worth noting given our rough start to an otherwise nice weekend.

Great escape from a world in ciaos.
The location of this property is one of the best! We enjoyed sitting by the lake on the beautiful green lawn. The mountain view is spectacular. The neighbors were very friendly. This is a dated house that would benefit from minor updates to the kitchen. If we rent next time we will know to bring extra throw rugs and kitchen resources.
We had more than one boat but only put one in because the dock was too high and had the potential to beat the boat up. This was only a concern because my husband is very particular.

The views cannot be beaten! `The house is laid out very well for extended family and children. We had a magical Thanksgiving and would rent this property again for sure!

Stunning Lakefront Sunsets & Mountain View Home
You will never want to leave Bella Vista Island! This freshly styled property is a wonderful getaway with the most amazing views of Smith Mountain and sunsets over the lake. Very clean with comfortable beds, furniture, and spaces for hanging out -inside and out. Lots of books and games too. Great for multiple families with 2 kitchens! We loved swimming off the dock, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The water was clear and refreshing. The star gazing at night was spectacular! We left feeling refreshed and looking forward to returning soon. Thank you for providing all the details that make a vacation property relaxing and memorable.

Beautiful property and had fantastic time. Tons of water fun , very comfy, roomy and well appointed
Not having a trash bin was inconvenient. We had ants in the kitchen but they came right out and sprayed. Got in a couple open boxes. Just seal your food and spray the first day.

Perfect spot on the lake!
The property was ideal for beautiful views and quiet access to the lake. We really enjoyed the fire pit and the flat grassy area for playing games and just sitting to read and star gaze. Having all the lake toys was a big plus! We utilized them all-kayaks, wake board, paddle boards. The only recommendation would be to update the bathrooms and kitchen. A bathroom for each bedroom is typically what we prefer, however the property made up for it. Cutely decorated with everything provided for a fun vacay!

Great location
We had a terrific time. The view is wonderful and nice decks to sit on and enjoy it. The small beach was perfect for little kids on up. The dock was good swimming for older ones. Plenty of room in the house, we had 3 families and were not on top of each other.we rented a pontoon boat and the dock was not easy to tie up to, took some maneuvering . The kitchen could be better supplied with little things like a working can opener.
