Amazings views - super clean rooms

Loved the view and the breakfast. The rooms very extremely clean and the bathroom was very modern! What a great stay - we really loved it!! Thank you to the whole team :)

Only one blanket for two people. Check out at 10am which is a bit early.

Not a pleasant stay in general.

Staff was super friendly. Room was very clean. View from the balcony was stunning.

Firstly and the most unhappy about was the access to the facility. It was super narrow and hairpin bends road, only one car was able to pass - very dangerous. Staff should have warned all travelers with cars about the condition and should have suggested to go from the top village. We were shocked by the condition (almost scratched our car) in the night. Secondly, the window for person-checkin is very short - only 17-19h. Outside the window. We had to do very lengthy self online check-in, and follow complicated instructions to access to the room, which was super inconvenient when we were in travel without good internet connection. Also, room noise insulation is very bad. I could hear neighbor room voice. Especially when they had a lot of kids, forget about the idea to enjoy quiet Lake Como. Only one restaurant available by walk. Everything else needs a car, and complex of bad driving road condition. It was really unpleasant. For the price of the room and what we got in value, I would have preferred to pay more to stay in the village center of Varenna.

Relaxing holidays with breathtaking view

Cosy and quiet place to spend relaxing holidays far from touristic noise and rush. Personel extremely friendly and helpful. The view from tarace is amazing and "honesty bar" very handy (and affordable) just on the site. Breakfasts rich and delicious. Rooms clean and spacious.

Nothing as long as you enjoy driving narrow and curved roads which anyway you won't avoid coming to Varenna.

We loved it.

The room was tidy, and comfortable. Everyone was nice and helpful. The breakfast was tasty az the sight from our room was amazing.

It is relatively far with publick transport.

Really memorable place that we would like to come back to 🥰

Panoramic view from the room and breakfast! It’s in the nature and very beautiful and romantic 🥰 It’s placed in Varenna, which is very special and it’s easy to take the ferry to Bellagio and other cities. We really enjoyed the walk from Crotto Di Gittana to Varenna centre while enjoying the nature The host Valentina is very professional and know what is needed for a memorable stay. She made the breakfast table up for us outside for lake view in open space (it was in the spring). As we live in Denmark and don’t mind it’s a little chilly when it’s so beautiful! Valentina helped with the taxi, Thank You!

If you don’t bring the car then make sure to book a taxi from the station to the hotel. There is only 5 taxis in the area, therefore they are very busy and can not come if you don’t make an advanced booking. Call the day before and make an appointment! The distance from Hotel to train station is walkable if you have no problems with walking, but when you have the luggage or if it’s dark it’s not suitable to walk(because you have to pass some tunnels). Also you should take the walk by the water, because the road through the hills are too far.

an excellent holiday, would recommend valentina and Crotto to all.

Valentina was so accommodating. she went out of her way to make sure everything went well. we had a lovely breakfast on the balcony over looking lake como, the bed was comfortable, the view was amazing, the breakfast was nice, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Even when I accidentally managed to short circuit the lights as a fuse went out in my hairdryer the night before our day trip to Milan, Valentina helped to provide an adapter for us and another hair dryer too which was waiting for us outside our room in the early hours of the morning so that we could leave on time. she was always contactable by WhatsApp too if there was ever anything she could do to help, she did. she went above and beyond to help us and cannot thank her more. on our last day there were some ants as they migrate in the spring time (you are surrounded by trees and nature so not at all the hotels fault - just natural and this would be the case everywhere in Como) but Valentina got us some ant spray and gave us a hoover so we could get rid of them which was so helpful. it is also a short drive from the ferry station (about 5-10 minutes) and you can walk it if you want too. she also gave us numbers of lots of taxi companies including private taxis which were cheaper. we would also like to thank Vince who drove us around most of the time and was available to take us to Milan twice which saved us lots of money than other taxis in the area.

the bed was a little creaky though but overall an excellent stay and would 100% recommend this.

Great view of Lake Como from the room. Very helpful staff - there was a landslide that took out the train tracks while we were there and the host helped us get to our next destination. Very quiet area. Non-touristy area. Great breakfast with plenty of Italian and American options. You get the same views as staying in Bellagio at a fraction of the price.

If you don't rent a car you will need to take a taxi into Varenna each day. The host helps a lot with this so it isn't a huge issue.

View of Lake Como

The view from our room, and almost anywhere onsite was amazing. It was why we booked and even better than expected. The covered areas were easy to enjoy during our rainy visit. The Honesty Bar was a nice add. We didn't use it, but it was set up nicely with snacks and drinks. Staff was wonderful. The breakfast each morning was the perfect addition - we didn't have to drive down into town to pick up something, we could just eat and head out for our day. Location was just minutes outside of Bellano and we really enjoyed our time in that small town as well.

There was nothing special about the room, but the bed was big and it was clean. The heat had apparently been turned off for the season, which made for a couple of cold days and nights for us. Especially coming in wet on a rainy day. We got an extra blanket. We could easily hear the other guests from our room.

Great hotel, stunning location

Absolutely stunning location looking across Lake Como from high up. The staff are Absolutely lovely and accommodating.

As with a lot of older properties in Europe, the can be noisy and you can here some noise from rooms next door, it shouldn't put you off though.

Great location and beautiful view!

Beautiful view of lake como. very close to Varena which is convenient. Clean and spacious. Nice breakfast. Overall it was a great experience!!!

The road to the place is very steep but you get used to it. Room design is old fashioned

The view was amazing. Lady In the house was so friendly and helped us with restaurant reservations and gave tips to get Taxi In the morning. They had also very good breakfast and we ate breakfast outside.

Our room had a lovely lake view and the accommodation was very spacious. Breakfast on the lake view terrace was also delightful. The staff was helpful and friendly as well.

The parking was very spacious and free - a rarety on the steep hills in the area - but the luggage had to be carried up steps quite a long way which for the elderly is quite difficult. There was a ceiling fan in the room, but no air conditioning, and the insects in the area didn't allow keeping the windows open during the night. It would be good if the facility would provide at least some simple evening meals, since the very few restaurants accessible on foot are always fully booked well in advance. Driving down to the town for a meal is not for the faint-hearted either, particularly at night.

Great location with amazing views onto the lake. Buffet breakfast was good with lots of options to choose from. Close to a small village (5min walk) up in the mountains with two amazing restaurants ! Close to a small quiet beach. Would definetely come back if I ever visit Como Lake again!

The mountain road is a bit dangerous. Drive carefully.

All the staff was incredible, the view is really amazing. We made a early checkout and the staff give us a really nice breakfast in the room

I arrived to Bellano station after 9 pm and there was no means of transportation to the hotel, a very kind person did us the favor of taking us to the hotel. You have to reserve a taxi in advance, because they only work from 7 am to 7 pm, the minimum Taxi cost is 10 euros

Weekend trip to the Como lake

The staff was really helpful, they were flexible about a late check-in time and gave us tips and hints for th area. Also pretty nice view from the room to the Como lake.

The road from the lake up is really narrow and a bit dangerous if you meet another car there.

Breakfast was o.k., the view over the lake is very nice. The honesty bar is a unique feature.

Although on the west side of the lake the place has virtually never sun. Unfortunately you can therefore not really enjoy the terrace. The road to the place is extremely narrow and with bends that are difficult for big cars (you need to backup to make the turn)

Very good

Beautiful view. Good sized rooms. Breakfast was limited but good. Service was great, loved the honesty bar - maybe makes you over indulge!!! But was very handy. I would highly recommend, but I would recommend a hire car! Had a pizza delivered one night as the only local restaurant was fully book. It was good! Nice bit of escapism...

Nothing about the property- but it was hard to get to. We got the train, and there were no taxis at either Varenna or Bellano. And none of them were answering the numbers when we rang. One of the staff had to pick us up in the end- which was really kind! Also - trains...I hope it was just bad luck but we experienced a good old fashioned Train strike. We travelled on a Sunday, absolutely no trains running- even though their website said some would. It took us over 5 hours to get from the Crotto to Milan. We took a taxi from Como in the end which cost €160. Again....hire car.... Definitely stay at the property, but get hire car!
