Stay out of here if you can.

clean room, bathroom recently refurbished. Good bed. Very convenient for the Southern Cross station and Skybus.

The room was extremely noisy. Heavy traffic all night and very old, non-insulated windows let all the noise in. Walls are paper-thin, everything can be heard. Breakfast is just very basic, some frozen pastry, the most basic orange and apple juices from concentrate, cereals and toast. You can "upgrade" to cooked breakfast for AUD12 or more. Not what could be expected for the price.

Weekend break in Melbourne

Great spot for a weekend break in Melbourne. Close to Skybus terminal for transport to/fro airport, and trams nearby, within the free tram area of Melbourne.

Construction work, renovations in progress. Had been told that there would be noise, but wasn't expecting them to be working on a Sunday morning. Good reason to get up and explore the city :)

Apart from a few shortcomings had everything for a pleasant 4 day stay.

Location excellent, 500m from Southern Cross Station. Tram Stop 40m. Paid extra $6 for cooked breakfast (had paid for continental with room rate) Value for money.

View, though was in room very little during day. Cheap toilet paper. Poor WiFi and poor number of TV channels available at night.

hôtel bien placé au centre ville, séjour confortable.

L'hôtel, tout prêt de la gare Southern cross est bien situé dans le CBD. La chambre située à l'arrière du bâtiment 6eme étage était très calme. Récemment rénovée, elle était bien équipée (salle de douche italienne, bouilloire avec sachets de thé et café, sèche cheveux, fer à repasser, coffre fort assez grand pour un ordinateur portable au fonctionnement ultra simple). Le linge de lit et de toilette étaient propres.

l'accueil froid par le personnel à l'entrée (aucun sourire, aucune convivialité. Le plafond de la salle de bains présentait des taches d'humidité comme s'il n'avait pas été rénové l'insonorisation entre les chambres n'est pas au top ! J'ai réservé une nuit supplémentaire mais n'ai pu conserver la même chambre. La nouvelle chambre (4eme étage sur rue) avait un confort similaire à la précédente mais était très bruyante et sentait mauvais.

Comfortable, convenient and lovely staff.

Hotel room was lovely and bathroom was great, the lights on the mirror were really useful when getting ready and the big bottles of body/hand wash were also very convenient as opposed to usual small products! Hotel was easy to navigate and price for the room was great compared to other hotels in the area and it was less than a 5 minute walk to southern cross which is really convenient for interstate travellers like myself that don’t know the area too well. As a smoker, it was also great to have a seperate balcony to use instead of having to go out on the street. Overall the experience was great and staff were super accommodating when our plans changed and we had to stay an extra night. I’d definitely recommend this place to others looking to stay in the CBD.

The only thing that was slightly annoying was hearing the doors of the other rooms open and close all the time. It was especially loud when in the bathroom and it made me think it was the door to our room being opened. However this is the only fault I had and I understand that it would be uncontrollable. I definitely wouldn’t let this get in the way of choosing this hotel when staying in Melbourne again though!

This is for your own good. Do not stay for more than one night. It's going to be an unpleasant holiday

It was great location in cbd with free tram zone

All the receptionists were smiling and kind. However housekeepers were crafty greed. We stayed 3nights which is very big mistake. First day when we checked in, There is only one tea cup, one glass of cup, and one teaspoon. This is still ok I used glass of cup, husband used tea cup. However it was disgusting hair was stuck in the shower drain. We felt extremely uncomfortable, so my husband put on his flip-flops and took a shower, and I cleaned up a little and then took a shower. In this reason we didn’t left the tip. 2nd day, It was a messy cleaning, This means that only the visible part of the bed is cleaned, not the floor. It looked like a bath towel had been thrown away and was about to fall off the shelf. I feel offensive like the way the towel was placed. so I didn't leave a tip. Then 3rd day, no more clean, no changed any towels. Only the one rubbish bin was cleaned. This is my first experience such an attitude housekeepers I aam sorry but I really didn't want to pay any tips for these clean service even 5 cents

Clean, affordable accommodation in a fantastic location.

Love the location. Stayed in one of the single rooms. They are cute and clean. Staff lovely.

Lift was a bit dodgy at the time. Hope it is fixed now.

In conclusion it was good except the stairs in the entrance

The location is very accessible for everything

I’m a bit disappointed for the main entrance when you enter it’s a stairs it’s hard for us customers to carry our suitcase to the reception area.

Wonderful!

The location was perfect, the price was perfect. The bathroom was bigger than I could have even wished for. All in all, great for the price.

No ledge in the bathroom that I can put my toiletries in. I use a special facial wash and hair conditioner and it was annoying for me to put it on the floor because there was nowhere else to put it.

Would certainly stay again.

Check in staff were extremely helpful, the room had recently been refurbished. It was a delight to stay in. Great location from which to continue our train journey.

Overall, the room was satisfactory although noisy.

Great location

Housekeeping needs improvement. Toilet doesn’t seem to be cleaned every day. Lacks thoroughness — eg missing bath mat, sink doesn’t seem to be wiped down.

Close to main area of CBD. Walked from train to Ibis styles Kingsgate Hotel - very close and convenient. Same when we caught skybus to airport - close walking distance. Location was extremely convenient.

Leftovers in fridge (burger & drink). Shower soap bottle empty.

The location is great, within the free tram zone and just mins walk to the train station.

The walls are not very sound proof. I can hear my kids playing and giggling in the room next door.

It was a good location , value for money excellent and $6 for a hot breakfast brilliant .

The room was a good size , the bath room was roomy and the bed was comfy but the pillows for me were too big . Overall we enjoyed our 1 night stay and we will return .

Only down side was the noise coming I assume from a void or plant room out side was a generator or some sort of motor but it only was on during the day.

Location is good.

At Check in, was given keys to an occupied room and had a very embarrassing walk into a room with people in. Reception just gave a new key to another room, and did not seem to care about the issue caused. Room cleaning is so random. One day bed was not made, bathroom was never cleaned during whole stay.

Location was good.

Breakfast was below average. Actual hotel is old and dirty. Room was ok but had a funky smell. Staff were hard to understand.

I usually enjoy my stay at Ibis Styles but this time was not quite as good.

The bed was comfortable and the location is good. I always enjoy my stay with Ibis Styles. In this case I got a room that was right near the lift and it was a bit noisy. It was also a room that was for wheelchair access so the facilities were different to my usual rooms I use.

I didn't enjoy my stay as much with the room being near the lift which was noisy as well as noisy neighbors who sounded like they were having an argument in their room till late on both nights. The room had 2 doors on either side of the room that let the light in with the door seal from the hall way. The shower was larger designed for disability access and I found the floor quite slippery when wet. I would have preferred a different room.
