Nice and pleaseant place to stay. More attentin to confort at suite room and smoke smell in rooms

Breakfast was very good. The place is pleaseant. Nice view. Good food at the restaurant. The family room was great.

The suite room smelled like burning wood and the mattress was very soft and uncomfortable.

Lovely accommodation, for the most part very clean and modern.

Clean, comfortable and had everything we needed in the room. Loved the chocolate labrador who clearly lives on the premises and befriended us.

Very disappointed in the restaurant. Very expensive and food was not on par with what we expected. Lodge is far from Oudtshoorn central so we were left having to buy takeaways after exhausting days at my son's gala. Pools were pea soup green. Staff not very friendly or engaging so we did not know if this was the "norm" or if there was a problem, so gave them a skip altogether, much to the disappointment of our kids.

Stunning views and cabin! Great value for money! Booked a second night when we walked into the cabin! It is perfect!

Loved the sound of the river at night, a beautiful cabin with a bed made for the 2 small kids! Loved the air con! Kids loved the animals on the grounds!

Quite an Experience!

First time in a "glamping " tent by the river. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank goodness for the aircons in the tent. Sat on our balcony and watched the ostriches doing their "ballet". Funny creatures to watch! They have REINDEER here, which apparently thrive up in the hills, and come down to feed.

Restaurant quite expensive, and not a great deal of options. Quite far out of town to find other places to eat.

The place was lovely. Peaceful and quiet. The breakfast was very nice. We enjoyed it a lot.

The breakfast was great but we stayed for 4 days and we received the same breakfast menu everyday

Der Aufenthalt hat uns gut gefallen

Die Lage der Lodge ist in einem schönen Tal umgeben von Bergen, das Frühstück war sehr gut und das Restaurant kann man nur empfehlen das Personal ist sehr freundlich

Wir hatten 2 Luxuszelte, die aber auch schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen sind, kleine Reparaturen müssten schon mal gemacht werden. Es gab 2 Wanderwege die leider nicht gut begehbar waren, zu viel Geröll

Tres bel etablissement au milieu d’un tres bel environnement

Tres bel étape au Old mill lodge avec nos 3 petits enfants avec l’option tentes au bird de la Riviere. Arrivée a cette étape on découvre une grande propriété avec une ferme d’autruches traversée par une rivières Les tentes confortables avec salle de bain interne et externe climatisation et couvertures chauffantes en font un établissement haut gamme au milieu de la nature. Il ne manque rien.La terrasse de la tente donne sur un pré remplit de bébés autruches. Plusieurs piscines sont disséminées sur la propriété , les mets du restaurant sint savoureux. On peut dîner sur une terrasse au bord de la riviere. Le petit déjeuner compris dans la location est sous forme de buffet tres généreux et tres copieux. Le meilleur de notre séjour en Afrique du sud. A recommander sans modération surtout en famille .

Tolle Unterkunft mit Kindern

Tolle, weitläufige Unterkunft, gerade mit Kindern ideal.

Davon, dass es sich um eine Straußenfarm handelt, kriegt man nicht viel mit. Es gab nur 3 erwachsene Tiere (und viele Jungtiere) dort, die man sich im Gehege ansehen konnte.

A very pleasant stay in a lovely location

The breakfast and dinner were all fine.

This is not now a "working Ostrich Farm" and we should have been told this. We only saw three Ostriches in a pen

Het moment van uitchecken

Was niet wat we ervan verwacht hadden, maar een vakantiepark dan een boerderij. Erg gedateerd, geen mooie kamer, personeel niet gastvrij. Communicatie is vooral wat er niet mag. Zwembad zag er niet fris en schoon uit.

Sweet nature getaway with lots of activities but not for vegetarians

The animals on the farm and the views and proximity to Cango Caves, Ranch and Ostrich Farm.

No restaurants around and their in house restaurant had only few veg options and no fish.

Very disappointing since my previous visit.

Lovely nature and peaceful

The breakfast was a disappointment. The food kept running out constantly, waited 3 times for refills which resulted in me hardly eating anything. They had no scrambled eggs on hand, would not make me an omelet. Coffee was cold. So for the price charged it definitely was not value for money. In the afternoon we went to have a relaxing beer after our long journey only to have a choice of 2.

Frustrating and disappointing. We were from PE. Hot, hungry and tired. Terrible start to our wee

Kids play area and well kept grounds.

The fridge didn't work. The sleeper for the 2 kids was way too small. You CANT slerp a 12 and 8 year old on that! Flies everywhere with seemingly NO attempt to do something about it. No outside bins. What does one do with chip packets, codrink bottels etc. The bin in the room is so small you can only put a tissue in there and surely one is not expected to place peels and meat packaging in there. You call yourself self catering and offer braai facilities with ABSOLUTELY NO PLATES OR CULERY. WE COULDNT EAT DINNER OR BREAKFAST, YEAT I HAD MEALS WITH ME. We had to get out of there to just go and sit in a mall parking area to feed kidsafter they offered us spoons etc. Had to hand out a lot of my groceries to bystanders because i could not keep it cold in you warm 'fridge' Will never stay there again and am spreading the word.

Out of town country feel which was enjoyable enough. Definitely 3 star comfort

Reception were very accommodating in making a plan for me to have adjacent tents with my daughter who I was travelling with despite the booking made. Breakfast in breakfast area was buffet style and well laid out and inviting. It was fresh and offered something for everyone. No options on eggs or omelettes just fried available . We were well looked over by staff.

Dinning facility in well advertised and "promoted" highly in paid for campaigns and boards in Oudshoorn but looked and felt dated and in need of a revamp. No ambiance, white light and old dark wood pieces & well used table cloths did not make it very appealing to eat at. Not sure of the food as we opted to pass on dinner. Linen was dated and tent felt cluttered as they had put a lounger in front of bed which made it too congested. Sleeper couches should be optional and removed if not wanted. Tent zip was torn in Unit 2 so left a gapping gap I had to close up before going to sleep to discourage any snakes that may have taken an interest in visiting me during the night.

Favoloso tutto!!!!

Tutto! L'alloggio in tenda (la nr. 6, perfetta!), la posizione vicina alle Cango Caves e nella natura, l'area giochi per i bambini, i cuccioli di struzzi, il ristorante la sera e la colazione.. Eccezionalmente buoni!

Stare solo una notte! Se potete contate di spendere almeno 2 notti qui!

Stunning and Well Maintained Complex

Very well maintained property with very nice units. The swimming pool was great and the restaurant exceptional. Breakfast was good with very nice patio with great views. Enjoyed our stay.

Our toilet did not work the first night. I would expect better. To their credit, they fixed it very quickly the next day. Also noticeable is the lack of emergency lights or flashlights. You cannot fault a place for the national loadshedding problems, but all the other places we stayed during our road trip (some a lot cheaper) had some emergency lights and candles. Would be good if you can consider it.

Hotel with nice tents to discover the region

Tent was great with amazing bathroom. Towels for swimming were available. The swimming pool is suitable for children. Breakfast was ok. Nice to see little ostriges

Playground was quite old. Restaurant has great food but waiters could be nicer. Walking trail start point was not well signposted.

Leuke verrassende plek. Ideaal als uitvalsbasis voor dit stukje Zuid-Afrika!

Wat een leuke plek! We bleven 1 nachtje, maar 2 had ook prima gekund. Heel gezellig plekje, met overal dieren.

Het is wat gedateerd, maar dat heeft ook wel zijn charme.

Relief from Karoo heat in a green valley

Excellent value for money and good place to relax and avoid the Oudtshoorn heat. We survived there +40C comfortably Three small swimming pools and lot of trees provide needed relief. It is also quite beautiful and we would love to stay there for longer. Very convienient for Cango Caves Very good for kids - not only pools, but also small ostriches (it has a real working farm attached, so it is not a touch and play place, but the real stuff) and bunch of antilopes and roes One can even make own braii Brilliant breakfast buffet

Restaurant is not excellent but still good value for money They somehow give an impression of being very strict, probably had lot of problems with other guest

Family break-away feom the city

The glamping tents are right next to the river and this time the ostriches roamed opposite. The swimming pool is right behind the tents so no need to walk far oh and the breakfast is well spread.

Check-in is strictly till 9am, driving from Cape Town (after work) causes for some rushed driving. Housekeeping isn’t done while you are away, they come round after you just got back and are very happy when you then say “not anymore, thank you”.

Pleased to have booked here and will recommend it to friends and family.

Excelllent location, quiet. Very good breakfast - even had marmite! Good information about the history of the farm and ostriches. Proximity to Cango Caves was also a huge benefit.

Air conditioning unit did drip water for a while so we turned it off.

Agreable Mais pas ‘wow’

L’endroit etait formidable. Le lodge est dans une valleé a coté une petite fleuve. C’est un peu d’hommage gu’ils sont construit une pleine de jeu a coté la fleuve , je le trouve pas tres jolie. En plus il n’y avait pas beaucoup des enfants.

Les draps et couvertures des lit etaient en synthetic, pas de lin. Pas agreable!

Good.. the place is peaceful

The Accommodation was beautiful. The morning staff was sooo so helpful when I needed to call out a locksmith after locking my keys in the car.

Found a mash-mellow behind the best when we were looking for an earring. When the manager George started his shift .. he was a bit short with us while waiting for the locksmith.

dormir de lujo, rodeado de naturaleza y animales

una granja enorme con alojamiento tipo lodge, estuvimos en cottage en frente del rio, muy comodo y lujoso. El restaurante bueno y bonito, enorme parque con animales antilopes, gacelas.. Una zona para niños con columpios y conejos y ponneys. El desayuno era excelente, buffet libre había de todo. Todos los dias ibamos a ver a las avestruces.

eché en falta ayuda para los turistas en la recepcion, pero la chica de la oficina de turismo de Oudtshoorn nos dio una explicacion muy completa de la region y consejos sobres las actividades para hacer en familia.

Exceptional value for money!

The kudu steak and ostrich fillet we had for dinner were in one word, divine. The scenery was unmatched as a farm in the country. I must mention the friendliness of the two old dogs. We enjoyed their following us all over the area. The host (and manager), Renier, was very professional, friendly, and accommodating. We will certainly stay here when we visit SA in the future and will highly recommend this working farm to family and friends. This was good value for the money we spent on our visit to SA.
