Not the best experience this time, Aquilla; I'm sad to say.
I've been twice before, so I knew what to expect. The food is always lovely and the staff helpful.
The location of the KC rooms. It was quite old and dated. The loo got clogged late at night, unfortunately. We did not have hot water. The tour guide was more keen to get out and back... and cut our drive short. We tried changing drivers the morning, but was told we couldn't. How sad.

Dreadful
The game drive and view
Ths fact that the food is all halal, but the majority of guests are not. The food is absolutely dreadful! There is no value for money. The staff are everywhere always moving things around ans cleaning up around you - you are incessantly rushed to eat. The staff are kind and courteous, but very poorly trained. Food keeps running out and an hour before breakfast closes, you're simply told foods are finished. The rooms smell terribly of mould. Dreadful dreadful dreadful!!!

Best you can get close to Cape Town
Aquila is amazing and so close to Cape Town, also very near to the wine country. Very pretty scenery, not hard to find. You see lots of animals in your 2 game drives. The spa is great and the spa pool area is smaller and quiet compared to the large one. Upon arrival, they give you a welcome drink and invite you to enjoy lunch while you wait for your room to be ready. Meals are buffet style but the dining room is nice. The bar is upstairs and not included. Then you move in, a helpful guy brings all your bags to the room and gives you a place to park. The staff takes care of you. For instance, the same man moved us in and out of our room even though there were many people doing his job, the same driver was our guide for the evening and morning safari even though there were 4-5 busses and guides. The room has things like bug spray and a wall unit AC. Our AC leaked but it wasn't a problem bc it was in the bathroom and the floors are LVP. There's time to chill or go to the spa or pool. Then you are taken on safari and it's a large 20 seater bus. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. The park is 10,000 hectares and they make a considerable effort to protect from poaching, but unfortunately that means they cut the rhino's horns down to deter poachers. The lions are in a separate fenced off area, farther in to the reserve. This is because they offer horseback safari and 4 wheeler safari. We saw lions, rhinos, cape buffalos, hippos, giraffes, zebras, elephants, and a springbok. The place is very picturesque and you end up with incredible photos. While hanging out in your room or the pool or restaurant, you can see the elephants and giraffes as they wander around the reserve. The elephants are very friendly, and may approach the vehicle, even putting their trunk in. After the morning safari on day 2, they offer you breakfast, then there was just enough time for a traditional African wood massage and then it was time to go.
It was a hot sunny day and I was dying to lie by the pool, but the main pool was very crowded and a lot of people were kind of loud, shouting and cheering on their kids who were playing in the pool. All the pool loungers were taken and most of the lawn was covered with people lying on towels. It didn't look pleasant so I didn't go and I was not aware of the second pool, so I didn't go there either. It would have been helpful if they explained more at check in such as: where the meeting point was for the safaris, that there was a smaller more quiet pool in the spa area that you could go to if you paid a little fee, that one of the welcome drinks was non-alcoholic, etc. Our guide was excellent, super knowledgeable and very friendly. But I felt bad for the lions. They were sleeping when we drove up. We were extremely close, our truck was maybe 6 feet from them. He kept revving the engine of the truck, banging on the roll bars, and waking them up. You only get one room key and the room's balcony is covered in bat poop. If you have hte time and can get to a larger private reserve farther away from Cape Town, do it. If you don't this is a great option, especially for a large group.

Great time spent seeing the big 5 and very well looked after by staff
Tour and tour guides were spot on,really enjoyable. Great choice of food available for dinner and breakfast .
The small cottages could do with a revamp, looking a bit tired internally

Mooie ervaring!

You get a feeling for safari, but could be better
Easy access from Cape Town for a quick safari.
Not really a safari. The animals are brought to the people. Average food. Pool was full of people.
