Great location. Great breakfast.
Our ground floor room was close to the main lobby - it would be noisy sometimes with people outside near the hotel entrance and lobby area

Location was good. Staff were friendly.
The glass bathrooms take some getting used to.

The location, price, facilities and genuinely attentive staff make this THE perfect place to stay with a group. The easy walk to the V&A Waterfront, the AMAZINGLY helpful staff, clean and secure environment are highlights. I also like the fact that this is a training center for the hospitality industry and there are many young folks at the front desk and throughout the property who are eager to assist and learn. Since 2001, I have benefited from bring groups to the Breakwater and it was always a good move.
Part of this was my fault, but at check-in it would be helpful for the front desk staff to ask if it is a group vs individuals registering. I should have directly told members of my delegation to WAIT before trying to check in (but we arrived late, and folks were tired). The logistics of check in lasted way too long and could have been simplified had I spoken to the manager first.

The location and the setting is great. Staff very helpful.
Room was a bit shabby, aircon was broken and they tried to fix it - eventually moved rooms. When I was leaving I saw new people who were staying in the room trying to fix it so the hotel had not fixed it and rented the room out again - not good.

The room was actually two rooms, so my teenage daughter was super thrilled to have her own private space. The location of the hotel is excellent, too.
We've stayed in other Protea hotels and they all had a sign in the breakfast room not to put croissants in the toaster machine, because it will start a fire. This hotel didn't - and guess what - guests were putting the croissants in the machine and starting fires. The breakfast room staff was chill every time it happened, obviously a common occurrence. Why don't they just put up the sign???
Overall the staff in the breakfast room was too unbothered for my liking, like the tea / coffee coming after we've already finished, nobody really trying a little harder, etc.

The location was superb for access to the Waterfront and nearby attractions
The choice of breakfast items was amazing but the service not so. Lack of plates, glasses and bowls in situ. Also took a long time to get a coffee. Some of the staff weren’t very pleasant!

Location, breakfast, big hotel room
The generator during load shedding was very loud.

Walking distance to V&A
Hotel is a mix of hotel and campus of the business school, few privacy,
The 2 bedroom suite is tiny and has no space store luggage, bathroom has no courtain/door to the shower
The „rooftop-bar“ ist not exciting any more, not serviced and dirty pillows

Our check-in experience was above expectation. Samuel was absolutely brilliant.
Centrally located makes for very good access to the stadium and to Waterfront.
The wifi in my room was not great with limited detection.

Location is superb, walking distance to the V&A Waterfront as well as to the Cape Town Stadium.
The lighting in the room is not fantastic.

The toilet door did not close properly.
There was not enough ventilation in the toilet.
The Bathroom would get extremely wet for the next person to use.
There were not enough floor towels to use.
The room design was not good, did not feel cosy.

Upgraded room which awesome.
Breskfast was amazing with friendly chef who knows how to prepare the perfect eggs.
Would recommend to family & friends as the location is superb, should you want to be close to the waterfront.

The staff was helpful and friendly, the rooms were clean, the bed comfortable and the location was superb!! We also really enjoyed the breakfast and how the staff bent over backwards to please us and get us what we wanted. We also made use of the Concierge for information and booking tours and taxis. The Concierge staff, Rolene and Laurien, were fantastic, helpful and friendly.
We booked a taxi from the airport to Breakwater - through the hotel, with the price being added to our room and it cost 1050ZAR (+ tip). Then, on the way home, we booked a taxi back to the airport from Breakwater for a cost of 350ZAR. Why the huge discrepancy? (We felt taken advantage of as we landed, not knowing anything about the prices in the country!!)

This biggest bonus of this property is the fact that it is very reasonably priced for an incredible location. Staff were also great to deal with and we found the lounges very helpful with microwaves and washing facilities.
We found that the rooms were small, dirty and things like the drains didn’t drain water making the whole room damp. Everyone told us to stay in a hotel to avoid load shedding as they have generators but this hotel does not have a generator so that makes it challenging.

Lage ok aber schwer zu finden
Zimmer zu klein - keine Minibar zur
Verfügung … „Bar“ schrecklich, Frühstücksraum ausladend

It wasn't clean. We found chocopops on the floor.
The bathroom sink is ridiculously small!

Great location, tasty breakfast. Very good service.
Friendly and helpful staff.
The rooms in building 2. It feels like u are not part of the main hotel and living in a school environment. Load shedding affects this area as there was no generator. Therefore the lifts don’t operate which is a problem for luggage, prams, elderly people etc
The rooms are renovated beautifully but this external issue put a negative aspect to the hotel.

My booking for 2 adults was cancelled by the hotel just before my checking in. I changed flights and stayed the extra night for the sole purpose of assessing the facility. On checking in,I was informed my paid for bookings had been cancelled and alternate accommodation arranged at another hotel a few 100 meters away. Staff were contrite and apologetic about the overbooking and moved my luggage down the road to a perfectly fine alternative hotel if I just required accommodation.. Wasted an extra day on a failed mission - Disappointed.

Very central to the food and V&A less than 300m walk away. The area felt very safe walking to and from the V&a. I liked that there was a proper hairdryer, plenty of hangers and a iron and ironing board in every room. Parking was also good
There was plenty not great for a Protea standard. We had a fire alarm go off and my fire alarm in my room did not go off, luckily I heard the hall way one. The second is that the room a/c does not work. This was for 2 of us who had separate bookings. This is most probably because of electricity blackouts that generators can’t cope but the room was freezing. It’s a bit strange having glass walls for the bathroom but that’s a preference rather than a negative. I would finally say most things were clean and staff was incredible but the hallways were very dirty and the carpets in the hallway felt incredibly dirty

Amazing location for exlporing the V&A Watefront
Hotel interior is pretty basic.

Breakfast wasn’t great- cold food but it was due to loadshedding. Also no lights in the dining room

The location. Staff were very friendly.
The rooms are so small and the doors are not soundproof. For the same money I booked into a larger and more elegant hotel, I think this Protea Hotel needs a revamp, with comfort as the main objective.

The location is not far from the waterfront and the beach.
There were no power cuts.
Having the conference center within proximity of the hotel was superb especially that it was cold. Also, cut down on the cost to the conference facilities.
The staff members were very friendly

As a family the best we liked was the breakfast spread, it provided wide selection of choices. I personally liked the location, it is very close to the V&A waterfront which has a mall and many outlets that sell local curios.
The size of the room is bit small for families but good enough for a couple or a business travelers. Rooms don't have enough space to keep luggage.

The staff are extremely friendly, efficient and accomodating. Well sdone to the team.
