About this house rental
Situated in Puako, this charming house for $8,351 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. Kahieluana means a place to relax and enjoy the company of loved ones. That’s why we custom designed this brand new house to have 5 masters, so nobody has to get the bad room. And whether your version of relaxing means reading in a beachside hammock, playing tennis, snorkeling with turtles, whipping up an incredible meal with local ingredients, all of these activities and more are onsite so you can do all the relaxing you need without having to leave the two acre property. It's like having your own private resort. The house features a heated pool and deck that is designed for everyone to gather to watch the sunset. The bay directly in front of the house is shallow and wave-free, ideal for our young son to learn to swim, spend afternoons playing in the black sand and watch an assortment of turtles, juvenile fish and sea animals. Whales breach from December through March. If you choose to leave the property, you will find Puako to be charming and authentic, things you can't get at a commercial resort. Amazing sea life abounds in our reef, including turtle cleaning stations, colorful tropical fish and manta and spotted eagle rays. We have a well-stocked general store (fresh poke on Friday) a short walk or bike down the road filled with colorful locals. In the other direction, Beach 69, a local secret, is a 10 minute walk with waves, white sand, and great snorkeling. We look forward to welcoming your group of friends or your family with Aloha. As advertised, this home is quite beautiful and very well stocked! The home is immaculate, and the services they recommended were very much on point-please use Sue the chef and get to know Leah!
We were just one couple, and did not really use all the amenities the home had to offer, but they were sure fun to have on property.
One big problem was this. There is active construction going on directly next door to the property. I felt taken advantage of, as that was not mentioned at all in any of the details or correspondence with the owners. It is a great effort to get here, and to have the drill, the porta potty and the music blasting next door greatly diminished our experience here.

We rented the house for a week for a family trip of eight persons. First off, the house is gorgeous and rivals any of the five star resorts on the island. With a beautiful view of the cove, the outdoor spaces are thoughtful with shade and sun, and the pool is divine. The kitchen is roomy and very well equipped with top of the line appliances and it easily accommodated our group. Bedrooms and bathrooms are beautifully appointed and all feature outdoor showers.
Secondly, the location is terrific with Beach 69 being a 15 minute walk (or 2 minute drive) away and pretty snorkeling just off the dock next door to the property. The shops at Mauna Lani and Waikoloa are less than 10 and 15 minutes away respectively. And fresh Hawaiian malasadas (donuts) are just at the top of the road.
Finally, what stands apart is the service. Andy was responsive to our questions about the high tech in the kitchen (could a dishwasher really clean dishes in 15 minutes, could we really make our own espresso by touching a button) and his team does a marvelous job looking after the place.
For a group or family you can spend $1000 per room per night, share resort amenities with a bunch of strangers, and spend a fortune on drinks and food. Or you can come here—to easy luxury on your terms.

The separate apartment was perfect for the older girls. The sound system is peerless. The grill and kitchen make feeding a large family so easy. The secret room was a hit with the younger boys. We rented this property to celebrate my 60th birthday. We had friends and their kids join us. The house was perfect for us. We were able to comfortably host and entertain our closest friends and their kids. The house is well appointed and set up for adults and kids. Everything was just great and we will happily recommend this rental property to our friends and family.

The house was wonderful. The location was great and placed extremely close to Beach 69 and Puako beach as well as halfway between the Mauna Lani and Mauna Kea for dinners. The owners had tons of toys for the pool and standup paddle boards for the kids. Great stay.

Amazing home in Puako Bay
What can I say? This place was spectacular and worth every penny. Our family of 11 (adult kids and their significant others) plus our 14 month granddaughter had the most memorable stay at Kim and Andy's home. The house was awesome and everyone spent at least the first 2 days oohing and ahhing over every detail. The location was so beautiful, with sunsets each evening and spectacularly gorgeous mornings. We were lucky enough to have late moon rises and sets during our stay so the abundance of sparkling water right out our windows day and night was beyond. We loved being close to awesome beaches (Hapuna state park is just up the road and a amazing swim beach), not to mention golf and shopping/restaurants at Mauna Lani and Mauna Kea...but between the volleyball and tennis courts, pool, SUP's and lawn games....we didn't want to leave. We also had sea turtles in the cove each day! What more could you ask for? Thank you for helping us create a lifelong memory for our family. We'll be back!

Beautiful Property and Great Place for Family Vacation!
This was a perfect home for our family vacation. There was plenty of space for everyone, the kids had things to do like swim, play volleyball and tennis, and hangout. The kitchen was amazing with everything you could ever need. The beds were very comfy and bathrooms well equipped. We loved cooking dinner and watching the sunset over the water each night. This was the best family vacation we have had! Don't look any further and book today. AMAZING PROPERTY WITH THE BEST PROPERTY OWNERS! CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK!

Having visited the Big Island many times, I was still unaware of what is now my favorite area, Puako! This small area is charming, intimate, & private while still accessible to a wide array of beaches, restaurants, shopping - in short, there is little one might want to do that isn't within driving distance. However, we rarely wanted to leave this magnificent home which provided a playground for our family of 16. First of all, the physical property and accommodations are first class. Beautiful bedrooms in the main house open fully to the outdoors with magnificent unobstructed views of the ocean and cove. The adjoining two bedroom cottage provides privacy for those who wish a little more quiet. Linens, towels, even robes exemplify the owners generosity in treating their guests with the accoutrements they would use for themselves. The "kids" bunk room is a treat unto itself - five cousins had the time of their lives and will always remember this very special vacation. And the "surprise" playroom with special access and a magical stairway was a treat even the adults delighted in. I have never stayed in a rental home that was so well appointed - the kitchen had every appliance we could have wanted (along with a separate ice maker that provided as much as we needed -and more!). The espresso machine was a godsend to starting our mornings. And any sporting equipment one might want, along with children's toys & games were at our disposal. Leah, our "concierge" had our refrigerator well-stocked upon our request and was always available for questions. Kahieluana is a very rare and special property that is so much more than the pictures and descriptions portray. Our family will always treasure this unique experience.

Really great property, incredible home for the family!
We loved staying here with our extended family. Beautiful home, well kept property. The owners/managers very accommodating and helpful. The common areas are great for eating together and relaxing. Our kids loved the hammock, beach, pool, pool table...the list goes on and on. There is construction in the area which was the only slight bummer. Obviously outside of anyone's control - weekends were quiet and very peaceful.

Words cannot express how beautiful this property is. The ocean views from almost every bedroom were amazing. The pool area was perfect. We did kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling and swimming (all with gear supplied by the house).
An unexpected treat was whale watching while sipping coffee (or later in the day wine) by the pool.
Each room was comfortable and private. The common areas were great! The kitchen was well stocked. I was able to cook (including cookies and a birthday cake). The hosts were very responsive.
HIGHLY recommend and we hope to go back someday.

best house on the big island
Our family loved this home! It was a perfect getaway during the covid lockdown for us. There is great ocean access, an amazing professional grade volleyball and tennis court, great pool and indoor outdoor living. We really felt we didn't need to leave the house. I own and rent homes and I have to say, I was taken back by the quality of the furnishings, art, appliances and home in general. It feels like someone's dream home they put in some of the nicest finishes. Much nicer than what you would expect out of a high end rental. The location is great with close access to the resort and the bay is calm. There are excellent high end toys; paddle boards, boats, snorkeling equipment, tennis rackets and balls, bikes etc. I highly recommend this home. We will be returning on a regular basis. Make sure to check out the rooftop deck for star gazing.

Paradise Found!!!
I am hesitant to write this review because I want it to be available the next time we visit Hawaii. This was hands down the best vacation we have ever had. The house is perfect in every way!!! The host is courteous, responsive and accommodating. I want you to look at the pictures and imagine yourself looking at the view, swimming in the infinity pool, paddle boarding, snorkeling and boating on your private cove, playing tennis and/or volleyball on your private court, playing pool, eating papayas from your own grove, showering and bathing outdoors, playing with your kids in the secret playroom, listening to Hawaiian music on speakers in every room and eating amazing meals prepared by gourmet chefs. Can you picture it? Does it sound amazing? Now triple that excitement and that somewhat captures our overall experience.
