About this condo rental

Nestled in Fort Payne, this lovely condo for $247 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. This luxurious loft suite is located in the heart of the historic downtown district, The Lofts on Gault offer the utmost in comfort, historic details, and views of the city and surrounding mountains. The modern eclectic style of this restored loft blends with architectural nods to the past. Spend your vacation, friends trip, or business travel in this elegant, high-end space. Listed on the National Historic Register, minutes from Little River Canyon National Preserve! (Loft access via stairs only.) As you enter the stairway that takes you to The Lofts, the space immediately tells a story. You follow in the footsteps of those who climbed these stairs before you to visit doctors, dentists, lawyers, seamstresses and others who occupied the space since it was built in 1914. Art canvases along the oak staircase tell the story of a fire over two decades ago that left the space unusable and abandoned, preparing you for a dramatic “before and after” experience. Reaching the top of the stairs you are greeted by the next chapter in this historic building’s life: The Lofts on Gault. [NOTE: The Lofts on Gault are a historical preservation project, and there is no elevator. Access to The Lofts is via a 26-step stairwell. Also, parking for The Lofts is on the side of and behind the building.] The fleur de lis pressed metal ceiling harkens back to the building’s origin. The grand piano and curved wall in the foyer, along with the restored doors and transoms original to the building, set the stage for the elegance you will discover throughout this high-end space. The Judge William Wallace Haralson Loft is to your right. It is named for the attorney who purchased the land in 1912 and had the building constructed. Judge Haralson served in the State Senate and the State House, where he introduced the bill to incorporate the City of Fort Payne. He served as a circuit judge for 24 years, until 1928. At over 1,700 square feet, the Haralson Loft provides ample space for your family vacation, a special trip with a group of friends, or a quiet working trip/business retreat. Entering the Haralson Loft, you are immediately struck by the blend of modern eclectic style and historic preservation. The expansive hallway invites you into the space, where your eyes are drawn to the large dining table framed by tall windows that provide a bird’s eye view of Gault Avenue and the historic district of downtown Fort Payne. You’ll notice the detail in the guest bathroom to your right, followed by the exquisite tile work in the large, open kitchen that's appointed with new, modern appliances and all the amenities you need for your stay. You’ll be drawn to this space to cook and share meals surrounded by views of the mountains and historic downtown. The Haralson Loft features a spacious master bedroom suite with a comfortable king bed and top-of-the-line linens. The guest bedroom offers the same luxurious experience, with a queen bed. For the working traveler, the office/3rd bedroom provides space for getting things done, complete with a spacious work desk and an external monitor ready to connect your laptop (just bring the cables you need to connect to the HDMI port) plus a sofa sleeper. The period hardwood flooring throughout, plaster walls, and original doors with transoms remind you of the historic significance of this space, while the herringbone tile and fine appointments elevate the loft to a point of elegance unlike any getaway you’ve experienced in your travels. This is a unique opportunity to stay in a space that has been historically preserved in cooperation with the National Park Service. It tells the story of its past, enveloped by modern, eclectic styling and craftsmanship. New wiring, plumbing, a sprinkler system, and security system will help ensure the building will continue to be a landmark of Fort Payne for years to come.

The Haralson at the Lofts on Gault was a fabulous place to stay while in Fort Payne. It is right downtown and within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The space was very clean and inviting and it was clear the owners take pride in providing a welcoming and restful place to spend time. The interior of the apartment is well decorated and super fun! The beds were super comfortable and the baths were well equipped with plenty of soft towels, along with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The only thing you should be aware of is that this apartment is right downtown and obviously very close to the main road, which means traffic is quite loud and the road is heavily traveled throughout the night. It is not so noticeable during the day, but when trying to sleep and all is quiet in the apartment, the road noise is loud enough that you need ear plugs in order to sleep. I did bring ear plugs with me and that solved the problem. However, having said that, this would not keep me from staying here again and plan to do so the next time I find myself in Fort Payne. I loved this space!

The renovated space above The Spot is a romantic setting in downtown Fort Payne. I imagine this space will be magnificent around Christmas when the streets are decorated. Huge spaces and comfortable furniture 🙌 kitchen is beautiful! Honking on Sunday is a thing though...

Lovely apartment. We used the island to decorate wedding cakes and charcuterie prep for the wedding. Loved having The Spot shop downstairs and The Bake Shop just right down the straight.

Beautiful decor in a convenient location with a large area for entertaining. Our stay centered around my high school reunion and the apartment was perfect for visiting with old friends. There is a good bit of road noise and the trains run near by, but the sound machines and earplugs did help.

This was a great little Thanksgiving getaway for us that proved so fun we’re considering making it an annual thing. The loft is beautiful — well appointed with comfortable furniture and eclectic art. Fort Payne is downright charming with loads of outdoor activities. And after staying in multiple properties that think a lot of their space but not as much of my back, I’m grateful to say the king bed was super comfortable. Finally, communication with the property manager was immediate, helpful and friendly. Really, I can’t say enough good about the entire experience.
