Temper pedic beds were amazing after a long day out.

Staff very friendly. An older hotel converted to be chic and cute. It is a hotel you can't fully appreciate, if you stay only one night. I stayed 3 days and kept learning of new perks as the stay went on. For example, food and coffee were discounted if you were a hotel resident. A latte for less than I would pay anywhere! Free check out of bikes during the day. Across the street is beach wildlife refuge trail - that can be biked or walk. The refuge is being developed in part with restaurant and a convention center but still nice to experience. Not much light on the path if returning at night. My daughter loved it for its uniqueness. Again staff was very accommodating and friendly. Definitely would stay again.

We've stayed here before. Always a very good stay. Love the little diner attached to it.

Overall, the hotel was fine. I am leaving the review for the hotel staff's negligence in putting me in a room with a malfunctioning toilet. Every time I flushed the toilet, it had a screeching sound that would last over 20 minutes unless I had to jiggle the handle. When I brought this to the hotel staff the next day, there seemed to be some indifference about it, and when I brought up the fact whoever cleaned the room would have noticed that if they had cleaned the room again, there was a lack of accountability and indifference.
While I was reporting this issue to one of the front desk staff, the general manager, Instead of asking to speak with me or switching staff members, the general manager talked over me and told me there could be many reasons why the toilet was malfunctioning; again, I'm not disputing that something was malfunctioning. He had difficulty hearing and accepting that whoever cleaned the room should have noticed that sound and reported it, and no one should have been put in the room. What I left with understanding is that if the general manager cannot even provide appropriate customer service, it's no wonder there seems to be a lack of accountability and indifference from his staff.

It was fun kinda cozy, Just hanging out with friends while either going to the snack area. chilling by the arcade, or going to the pool. Also they fulfilled my stupid ahh request, I love it

It was bare bones. No coffee, frig or microwave. Really fun style in rooms. Also, easy to get to any type dining you could want. Right on the freeway but not very noisy.

The bed made a noise every time I sat on it. I ve been at several hotels in the area and this is the only one that doesn’t award any late check outs.
And lastly, by the check out time the personnel knocking at the door seemed like they would be tearing it down.

We booked a last minute stay here to rest before continuing to our final destination the next day and we were so impressed. We arrived late at night and the staff was so friendly and kind. The room was really clean and the beads were so comfortable. Their lobby/lounge/cafe area was so cute and fun.
Unfortunately we did not try anything from the cafe but it all looked really good and clean and they also offered 40% off discount on all their items (snacks, coffee, food) I don’t live close but if we were to ever be around the area again without a doubt we would stay here. We felt so welcomed and safe.
P.s loved how all staff we encountered spoke Spanish.

The Rambler was an affordable, nice and friendly hotel! The staff was nice and tried to be accommodating any way they could. The grounds are clean and looked nice. The room was the same. The bed was very comfortable! Our only complaint was our room smelled like cat urine. It was in the carpet and wasn’t coming out. We did mention it to staff and they were willing to move us rooms but at that point we were already unpacked so we chose to just deal with it. We will stay here again tho!

We were very impressed with the hotel and the coffee shop! What a great find, and affordable price, for San Diego! For a fixed up motel level of stay — it’s a 10/10!!!

Nice place, easy access to highway, the pimball machines in the diner and reception were really cool. They a good cafe, delicious bagels for breakfast, and for staying there, they gove you a good discount over price list.
Being so close to the highway (5), it is kinda noisy, our room was even closer to that highway. Not a big deal.

Everything was fine except the fact that they don’t allow a late checkout ever, even if the hotel and parking lot are empty.

Really neat place. Had my family there with me, we felt super safe. Close to all the attractions. Price on the room is fantastic and we would definitely stay there again.

Last minute stay, usually don’t look into “Motels” but I was intrigued by the retro vibe and the arcades since I was traveling with my kiddos. It was such a pleasant stay. Rooms were clean, shower was tidy and water pressure from the rainfall shower head “chefs kiss” customer service was great.

The worst hotel I’ve stayed in a while. The restroom has no ventilation and there is mold everywhere. Due to the water built up under the glass that sits on top of the dresser. We couldnt figure out how that water got under the glass until we realized it had to have been from the steam of the shower since again there is no ventilation. The hotel charged us the security deposit and called it damage. I explained what the cause was and they were not understanding. This place shouldn't even be operating due to all the mold, we found mold in the restroom in the main loving area and even in the window

A great hidden gem in Chula Vista. Excellent value and unique experience with an updated motel. Good discount on food and beverage.

Check in process was easy. Front desk staff was very nice and accommodating.
Room seemed nice but you can tell the place got a quick rehab. I think it was once a motel 6. They don’t give you much towels (2). I found one small cockroach on the bathroom counter in the morning and my wife found a dead spider as well. I guess it was good for the money and close proximity to the metro link and freeway. Probably won’t be back.

This motel was very clean! The shower has amazing pressure and love that parking was free and plenty of it too, downfall is we had a room in the back area and it was pretty loud because of the freeway, it wasn’t horrible but you can still hear sounds so I just had the radio to block out the noice. So I suggest the front rooms for more peace, overall good price and quality

I love the personal inspirational quotes on the wall, different quotes for every room. They have free biking rental which was enjoyable! If I ever take another vacation I will most definitely stay at the Rambler! The only down-fall is they don't have a microwave or fridge. I couldn't really take any leftover foods from the restaurants we ate at. Shopping and things to do we relatively close. Nothing was over a 20 min drive. I loved it!

Like so many have stated on this property. GREAT Staff, GREAT Property, and SO MANY things that are in walking distance right around the corner. EXCELLENT property to stay. If I travel back to the area again, this is where I will sleep & Stay.

This motel has renovated rooms with Ikea-style furniture. It was clean and well-maintained. The lady at the front desk was very helpful and they have a cool lobby and cafe. We did not use the pool as it was winter. There is no much to do within walking distance but it is quite accessible by car and near I-5 with ample parking.

Relatively clear, good value for the cost, recommend to those who plan to stay for a few days in San Diego.

The service was great, the beds and pillows were comfortable, bathroom was clean, and the style of the room was nice. The only thing was that you can very easily hear the train, buses, and any other people or traffic through the walls.

Not as cute as the pictures, but safe, hot water and good locks. Don't let them give you a room on the backside; it backs up to the I-5 Interstate.
