The manager went out of his way to help us with reservations for the Ferry Crossing.

The lovely old house was like staying in a museum, the view is wonderful, it is very historic.

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at the Hotel Halsingland. We stayed after taking a ferry to Haines. For a very small fee, they picked us up from the ferry terminal and took us to the hotel. There we met the owner, Jeff, who was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The grounds around the hotel are absolutely breathtaking and a historic fort. It is also very close to town and hiking trails. As it is a historic building, the amenities and room are quite outdated but everything else makes up for it. On our last day we were exploring in town and Jeff very kindly picked us up from town and took us to the ferry terminal again, really going above and beyond. It was an absolute unforgettable experience and can't wait to stay at Hotel Halsingland again.

There is nothing but good things about this property.
Staff directed us to a spot to view grizzlies fishing, without even knowing how much it meant to us.
Great stay

It sells very bad, only one chair in the room, no coffee machine, no place to sit. The beds are very uncomfortable.

Our host was especially cheerful, enthusiastic, and helpful as he provided suggestions of sights to see in Haines.

Old building, heritage style. Great view. Google maps gives terrible directions. Friendly staff. No restaurant on site. Bath tub tap dripped and wifi was poor in my room but overall it was decent.

Hotel is old and you see it everywhere - one could take care of it much better. Staff friendly, room ok, but very small, bathroom very tiny, shower with poor pressure. Rather poor Wifi, poor tv cable connection as well. Would be acceptable for a cheap motel on the road, but not worth the money they charge for it

The staff was very accommodating and was able to get us ground floor room with and outside door to with a smaller entryway for our dog.

Just a great old place in a very nice small town (we liked Haines MUCH more than Skagway).

A lovely hotel with lots of history and a unique feel to it. Highly recommended!

Its a old historical building and as such is a little tired but that is part of its charm.
I had a lovely stay and will go back.
Only complaint is that there is no tea/coffee facility in the room - you need to go downstairs to the lobby to help yourself.
Loved working the jigsaw puzzle in the lobby while waiting for the kettle to boil though!

This historic property is old. But that was the experience we were after so it fit our needs perfectly!

This was the most disappointing stay of or trip to the Yukon and Alaska. The property is in need of upgrading badly. The property is vey old and run down. The windows in our room could not be secured or closed. The room was on the 3rd floor with no elevator. The staff was very pleasant and helpful but the climb to the room was not fun.
Many exposed pipes and not many plugs. I thought this was one of the stays I didn’t need to worry about but it was a bit sketchy. That being said the staff was lovely. It is safe to stay here but be aware of what you are getting into. The wifi was descent.

Great service! Friendly atmosphere. Beautiful location. Inside, It is old and historical with a charming character. The room was small and showed its age a bit. Got the feeling it hasn’t fully recovered from the economic blows to the area from the pandemic but will only improve as the economy improves. Would definitely stay there again!

Building is looking pretty tired inside and out. Beds were comfortable, but the rest of the rooms and furniture have seen better days. We may have been early in the season, but the bar and restaurant were not open.

Awesome historic building, part of the old chilkat fort military complex. Lots of character and charm and well located to walk everywhere - into town or over to mount Murray peak for some excellent views.

Haines is a treasure, the Hotel is on the historic register and the architecture is wonderful, but it is in such sad condition.

Both the hotel and the proprietor have a lovely old-world charm rarely seen in a commercial establishment. If you like baths, request a room with a bathtub - gorgeous old clawfoot tubs - so luxurious!
