Room small with nowhere to really put a suitcase and no closet. TV remote controls worn where you couldn’t tell the function but other than that, a comfortable bed and great shower

We had a great time at the Outpost! We stayed in room 11, it was very cute. No big issues, rated a 4 because of a few small things. We left for the day and did not put the ‘do not disturb’ or ‘cleaning service requested’ door hanger in the outside of the door but our room was entered and cleaned while we were gone. Didn’t expect that for just a 2-night stay. There is a small couch for sitting but it doesn’t look very clean, just had one stain but I didn’t feel comfortable using it. The bed is located a little bit awkwardly between 2 walls making it difficult to get up and down. I would stay here again! Those were just thing I would have wanted to know ahead of time. Oh, and there isn’t anyone available after 6 if you need anything but the checkin process was super easy and convenient.

Hotel recently changed name and appears to be undergoing room renovation. No one at front deck for check in. Call number on door and eventually someone showed up. Did not receive txt or email with check in instructions. Rooms were pretty nice and clean. Comfortable bed, gas fire place. Hotel has lots of potential.

This property is not as pictured. The pictures I booked based off of were clean, white, cozy, wine and cheese in the lobby, and a fireplace in every room...what we got was a lobby with no staff present the whole stay, a room with a deer head over the bed and retro metal patio chair for seating. The fireplace did not work and the only way to turn the lamp off was to unplug it. It was at least clean, but nit what we expected.

Our room had some maintenance issues that need to be dealt with especially for the rate we paid. The lobby was closed and torn apart apparently for remodeling. We were not made aware of this when making our reservation.

Great stay near shopping district.

Our stay was wonderful! Quiet and local to downtown.

It was good.

NO SIGN OUT FRONT OF LOCATION. PARKING SOME WHAT TRICKY. ROOM WAS OK. NOT A GOOD VALUE FOR WHAT WE PAID.

So disappointed. While claiming to be a “hotel”, there was no one on site other than cleaning staff at any time. Had we needed something, someone from another property 20-30 minutes away would supposedly drive over. The room smelled like a mixture of moth balls and mold deterrent. The fireplace - a key reason I booked this overpriced room - was out of order. (We were not told this in advance.) The doors, which we were assured would lock automatically, did not lock unless you manually locked the door from the inside and held the handle perfectly still when closing the door, There were shared toiletries in the shower (full size, already open/used). You drive on a muddy gravel road to get to a tiny parking lot. There is a trash can on the porch of the laundry room that attracted a sizable black bear that I encountered when I went to get something from our car. The only positive things I can say was that it was clean, the towels and bedding were a nice quality, and the shower had good water pressure. Maybe it will improve under new ownership.

When we arrived we couldn't find a sign for the Hotel, turns out the hotel had been sold (apparently some time ago) and was undergoing renovations, very slowly. Girl at checkin told me that the fireplace in our room wasn't working. We paid extra for a room with a fireplace! She said that the room was alraedy discounted so she couldn't make an adjustment. There was a piece of paper taped to the wall saying not to use the fireplace that they were undergoing testing. Paper was old and worn and obviously nothing was being done. Why wouldn't they have the fireplaces working in below freezing weather?
Room was cold - heat pump was very noisy. Could also hear people upstairs tramping around - no idea what they were doing! Old venetian blinds on windows that letin lots of light at night - were also not very private. Obvious poor workmanship and lack of maintenance. Sink in bathroom was separating for the wall, poor trim throughout. During our stay some of the other rooms blinds were left open and we could see what appeared to be renovated rooms that were not occupied. Desk clerk did not offer us any of those. Pathways were covered with decking - all worn and some broken places - dangerous!
Even if they assured me that I could get a renovated room I'm not sure I would stay there again. Obviously not trustworthy - certainly appeared they were lying about several things. Don't ruin your stay in Highlands with this place.

This hotel is amazing. Quaint and comfortable. Perfect spot for our stay. The office is rarely staffed. We got in late, past 6PM, office was closed however we never received a key code for our reservation. This was a Hotels.com error. We booked hoping to have the fireplace only to arrive to the fireplace having a note stating the fireplaces are out of order. Simple fixes. We were very comfortable in a beautiful surrounding. Knowing all of these items can easily be fixed.
Being so close to downtown was perfect for our stay.

We went in December and there were many vacant rooms, which made it very quiet. The climate control system in the room was difficult to control. It was either too hot or too cold. Also, the gas fireplace, which is an attractive feature of the room, was not functioning. There was a printed note taped to the fireplace stating the fireplace should not be turned on. Our friends, who stayed in another room had the exact same printed note on their fireplace. The property should have told all of us that the fireplaces were all broken so that we could have made a better choice on where to stay in the area. It was disappointing to pay that much money for a room with a wonky climate control system and a broken charm feature of the room.

Quaint place to stay.

Nice place, but reserved because of the fireplace and discovered it wasn’t working and was not offered a partial refund.

nice property. quiet and comfy. only negative: we went to the front desk for our free glass of champagne upon our arrival at 5:30pm and the office was closed for the day, though they had indicated the office was open until 6:00.

I’m writing to voice my extreme disappointment with the Wells Hotel property. I’m a former guest at the other property- the Highlander Mountain House and thoroughly enjoyed that stay. The Wells Hotel is a mess. Apparently they are remodeling the place and should have closed during, but instead stayed open. Our room had no closet, no hangers, the bathroom is tiny- with no counter space, there’s a hole in the wall where a wall hanger was supposed to be? a blank wall with a nail where I assume a missing picture is supposed to be. The whole room needs paint. There are no amenities - the lobby area is often unstaffed, and a joke. All this for $400 a night! It’s even more disappointing in light of their other property. We asked to stay in another room - but the place fully booked. My wife and I travel often, domestic and internationally and being charged $400 per night for this room and this place is just not acceptable.

Property was beautiful in the mountains.

Advertised fireplace was know to be non-operational by all staff and we were only notified an hour before arrival. This has obviously been a problem for a while. Refrigerator was broken. They did bring another one the next day. Ants. Sofa and chair had large stains on them. Office was locked most of the time and we only saw an attendant just as we were leaving. For nearly $300/night, they need to step it up.

Property was not even close to what was advertised. Would not ever book again. The desk clerk (Amy) was exceptionally nice and helpful and made the stay tolerable.

This place could be great. But seems to have settled for average. Not a bad stay by any means but nothing to crow about either.

The location was very good and the hotel in general was nice but, unfortunately we weren't made aware that the fireplace in our room wasn't working until check-in.

Wife would have liked a tub but only had shower. Other than that, no complaints.
Nice stay.

No one was here that could get us to the tv station we prefer: Fox News.
No towels in room and no one to service between 8 till 9

This property has potential but missed the mark on some basic things. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom looked like it had been recently remodelled- nice fixtures and good water pressure. Strong wifi and large TV. Room small. Fireplace inoperable like noted on other reviews.
No sign on the property identifying it by name.

Property changed their name and didn’t tell anyone and no sign nor address so hard to find. Paid extra for room with fireplace and all fireplaces are broken. Bathroom needs upgrades. No one in office other than for 1 hour so cannot get any services (towels etc). Room very basic.

Quiet and convenient, would stay again. The best part was Amy who managed the lobby in the evening, charming, helpful and very kind.

Love the text correspondance for ease of check in without going to main desk and acquaint myself with the inn with a complimentary glass of wine!

Just needed a place to sleep and so this was fine. Quite old and rundown but bed was comfortable.

Nice and quiet

The room was clean and had been remodeled. It was comfortable. However the wooden walkways and general appearance of the outside of buildings needs attention to make it more appealing.
The young lady at the desk was kind and helpful. It is in a convenient location.
3.0
Property seems to be undergoing a refresh and has tremendous potential. Contactless entry/chk in was a smooth process, room was clean, location was good, property was quiet but amenities on the property were minimal (lobby didn’t seem open the majority of our stay), rooms were small, and fireplace didn’t seem to work. We were expecting a little more of a boutique hotel experience.
