About this house rental

Allamanda House

Nestled in North Eleuthera, this lovely house for $1,123 per night is a great option for your next break. Welcome to Allamanda House! Upon entering the front steps of the house, you are greeted with old world charm and local elegance. The house is built with its original stonework, made from the local island coral stone. Feel free to help yourself to the fresh rosemary bush that grows there! Further to the right, there are steps leading to the covered car port. To the left of the front steps there is a screened porch with sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean. From this porch there is direct access to a large private sun-deck and, beyond it, down steps and a short path, to the pool. All of the furniture on the screened porch has been carefully chosen and acquired locally from island craftsmen and artisans. Take advantage of the outdoor seating and dining table to enjoy your meals “al fresco” (there are three ceiling fans for your comfort). There are three sets of French doors that open from the porch into the house. The first French door brings you to the grand living/dining room with beautiful ocean views. It is again designed to give you a true island feel, furnished and decorated with local art. The living room has three large windows that provide lots of natural light. There is a television with a DVD player. The dining room table comfortably seats 6 people, situated next to the large and fully equipped kitchen. Past the living/dining room and through the second set of French doors, is the first of two bedrooms. The first bedroom features ocean views with a king size bed. The bed frame is one of a kind, built with original local pieces of drift wood. At the end of the room you will find a linen closet with a washer and dryer. Next to the linen closet is the bathroom, which is shared with the second bedroom. The second bedroom has two twin beds, ambrosia bedding and bed frames made by local builders. This bedroom has a door that gives access to the back yard. The master bedroom, has a double bed with an en-suite bathroom, is accessed from the front porch through the third set of French doors for ultimate privacy. (It does not connect internally to the rest of the house.) The bed frame is also made with collected driftwood. It features a canopy/mosquito net if you wish to open the doors during the night to enjoy the ocean breeze. This bedroom has beautiful views of the ocean, similar to that seen from the porch. Every room in the house is equipped with its own AC unit and ceiling fan. There are hair dryers in each bathroom. Other amenities include WIFI, a smart TV with a DVD player with many classic DVD's to choose from but no satellite or cable TV. There are also lots of puzzles and games. The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, dishwasher, Nespresso machine, toaster & blender. Outside you will find an outdoor shower, hidden under a lovely blanket of Allamanda flowers. There is also a gas grill here for your convenience, located by the door that opens into the kitchen. For your convenience there are beach chairs, umbrellas & beach towels. Allamanda is just 100 feet from a large and lovely pool. It is shared with several other homes, but in practice it is used only occasionally, and you will probably have it entirely to yourself most of the time. A five minute walk takes you to Sky Beach Club's excellent beachfront/poolside restaurant and bar, which has poolside service. Other nearby fine dining includes Tippys and 1648, both less than 10 minutes by car. The historic town of Governors Harbour, less then three miles away, has other restaurants, grocery stores, banks with ATMs, gift shops, liquor stores, dive shop, bakery, and restaurants. Buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from the fisherman on the village dock. And don’t miss Friday night fish fry, a weekly beach/street party that brings together tourists and locals for food, drink, and dancing in the street.

The location of this house is ideal. So close to many food places. The beach is beyond gorgeous and we only saw 3 people during the entire week we were there. The pool was clean and again, never saw anybody else using it. We especially liked the huge screened in patio!! I would rent again!

Allamanda House for 3 weeks
You can't beat the view from the Allamanda porch and the close proximity to the ocean and pool.
We've stayed at 5 other properties on Eleuthera over the past 13 years and we feel like Allamanda is nice for the price.

We spent most of our three weeks on the porch, in the pool and the ocean. Allamanda had better water pressure than anywhere else we've ever stayed on Eleuthera. Actually, it's better than the water pressure at home!

Allamanda House could use some TLC. It's overdue for a thorough cleaning and painting inside. Flies were in the kitchen and living room every night and swarms of termites come out of the ceiling when it rains.
The screen porch needs some patching - it kept most bugs out, but we had a snake visit us on the porch.
The furnishings are quaint/dated. The kitchen needs to be restocked. There weren't many tall glasses, the blender was gone. The glasses that were there seemed permanently dirty. There were nice, new pots and pans.

The master bedroom is beautiful. The beds are very old - we didn't find them comfortable. The bathrooms could use a thorough cleaning.

Allamanda had nice, new beach chairs and umbrellas, as well as access to a fun beach hut. The beach was perfect.

Due to the layout, we were glad it was just the 2 of us. We often travel with friends, but this house wouldn't have been comfortable with another couple.

The property manager was still cleaning the house when we arrived at 4:00. She finished at 5, the house wasn't very clean. She was kind enough to lend us a blender and hairdryer and purchase some washcloths. But she messaged me early in the morning repeatedly to see if we would hire her to clean and texted/called me repeatedly after midnight the night before we left to make sure we didn't take her blender/hairdryer/washcloths.

The pool was lovely when it was clear. It was too cloudy to swim in 7 out of our 21 days.
