Apparenza generale ottima ma soggiorno non all altezza. ASSOLUTAMENTE INADEGUATI i costi molto cari

This was our best experience in our 10day trip in Senegal. Peaceful and relaxing, far from any noise, you only hear the
Amazing place to stay in Sine Saloum. Peaceful and quiet, far from everything, a real oasis in Senegal! The simple huts are comfortable, sun-beds and hammocks are available, the place has a great kitchen, lee also oved the local basil tea. Prices of food and drinks are very good, prices of drinks are similar to other places in Senegal, food is slightly more expensive but delicious.
As written in some other reviews, you need to be mindful of what is included in the price of the stay. We were on a rather small budget so we ordered services from other sources - we got the horse cart on the arrival (2000CFA vs 5000CFA/cart from the lodge) and boat for the trip to the mangroves we booked through an agency in Dangane (25.000CFA per pax vs.40.000 CFA offered by the lodge). There is no hot shower, you get a bucket of hot water. Wi-Fi works very badly. But we didn’t mind any of this to be honest, we loved the place very much.

The nature surrounding the hotel is marvellous. Even dlophins can be occasionally spotted. Renting a kajak is definitely my recommendation to everyone.

One of the most relaxing spots I've been fortunate enough to find
This place is all about the location. There's an ends of the Earth feel here that breeds calm and tranquility. Go for a quiet swim every day, take the kayak out to explore the nearby mangrove forest, or just watch the sand crabs scurry. The staff is welcoming and will check in you once or twice during the day to ensure you've got all you need. A few activities are available but this place is all about relaxation. I did a lot of reading in the gazebo-like structure at the end of the long pier. Cabins are basic but comfortable, equipped with private washroom and fans. Breakfast is continental, bread and jams and coffee, but eggs can be had for a small extra. A kayak can be rented out for a fee and horse drawn cart tours of nearby villages are available.
These are not complaints but simply things to be aware of. Getting from Dakar to Mar Lodj isn't obviously straightforward. Provide the manager of the hotel with your WhatsApp and she'll give you instructions for the easiest and cheapest way to reach the island and accommodation (expect a bus, a boat ride and a horse drawn cart ride). Also note that there are no shops or restaurants nearby and so you'll be buying meals from the hotel. These are not cheap but they are excellent and feature fish caught literally yards away. That said, be sure to bring enough cash for the price of your stay, including meals, water and any drinks you might want while there. Wifi is available but only in the bar area and it can be unstable. I recommend getting a local sim card at the airport which you can then use as a hotspot, though even this may be hit or miss given the remote location. This is all part of the experience, though! Oh, there are sand crabs everywhere (outside) but these are in no way dangerous and will skitter away before they can be of concern.
