Located in Menemsha, this attractive house for £279 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Gorgeous!! Great Location!! Recently renovated with beautiful maple floors, cherry cabinetry and granite counter tops. High end appliances, easy cooking inside and out. Laundry is located in basement. Bedrooms are located on the 2nd floor. A charming deck is located just off the living room and is the perfect spot to open a book. Set on two acres abutting a 12 acre field in conservation, the yard is large with wonderful flower gardens. Private location, you can't see or hear the neighbors. Superb workmanship throughout. The ambiance is warm with many attractive touches. 2 bedrooms, 1.5 bath. Big Jacuzzi in the master bath. Entire home is flooded with sunlight. Excellent location, 1.5 mi from town center and general store. Half a mile to Sepiessa public pond frontage. Swimming, hiking, boat launch, walking and bike trails. Access to West Tisbury town beaches. Located mid island, close to all towns and activities. The owner, Jackie, is very friendly. She lives quietly in an attached apartment, however, peace and privacy is much assured. Quiet, well trained, hypoallergenic dogs could be considered. The setting is lovely and the house has much to recommend it. Contrary to the experience of others, however, there were significant privacy violations during our stay. Hopefully, this was an anomaly.

This is a magical hide-a-way in the woods with all the amenities you could ask for. The flowers around the yard are just beautiful. We had a lovely time enjoying both this beautiful home and the island!

Peaceful stay at this tranquil home in West Tisbury. Home itself is spacious, and though it looks older bc of the clever use of older doors and other fixtures, it's a newer home that is perfectly designed to make you feel like you're in a splendid cottage in the woods. The main bedroom is spacious and comfortable as is the living room. The second bedroom has a twin bed and was great for our 19 year old son. What we really enjoyed was the fantastic kitchen and great deck outside with a sweet picnic table and nice gas grill. We had a number of meals at home, enjoying our fresh seafood and island bounty on the back deck overlooking the private lawn and distant old fashioned laundry line. Pretty flowers and plantings. Location is as good as anything we've had in West Tis - very close to Alley's General Store which is actually closed this summer, but I guess they'll be back next year. Also, the owner told us about a great walking trail nearby, and there was an even closer path across the main road that takes you through some private lots to a spit of land with stunning field and water views. Jackie is super nice and laid back, and was almost invisible though she and her partner are on site in an adjacent apt. This place is awesome. Huge tub with jacuzzi jets upstairs. We love Martha’s Vineyard and have vacationed there almost every summer for the last 25+ years. There are always pros and cons to where we stay, and this house is no exception.
Pros:
Jackie was very quick to respond to our emails. While she wouldn’t give us her phone number, the email seemed to work fine.
The yard was very large and beautifully kept. We saw birds, bunnies, squirrels, chipmunks and turkeys.
The kitchen was well stocked.
The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable.
The outdoor shower was large and refreshing.
And now the cons:
There were small cockroaches in the upstairs bathroom. Jackie quickly took care of the problem with cotton balls soaked in a herbal oil. That lasted a few days. Her comment to me was that this was the first she’d heard of the problem.
There were window air conditioners in the bedrooms upstairs for use when there was intense heat. We were told that on the vineyard you don’t need a/c during the day because it never gets that hot there. Guess what? It gets hot and it gets muggy. (My bad for not asking about the a/c situation to begin with before making my decision. I know from many years of experience that it gets uncomfortably hot and muggy.). And there’s no controlling the weather.
The washer and dryer were in the basement. Getting to it meant climbing over a lot of stuff. The dryer was slow to dry. We think the vent needed to be cleaned out because while we were using it the smoke detectors went off.
To make things worse the washer and dryer were off limits from Wednesday at 1 to Thursday at 4 because that was the time Jackie was using it. That was exactly mid way through our week when normally we’d be doing laundry.
Some of these issues may not be issues for other people. I would have liked to have known better what we were getting into.

My friend and I enjoyed our stay very much. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. We loved sitting on the back deck and watching the birds and bunnies. It was quiet and peaceful. Loved the artwork in the house.

Tranquility Base
We loved it. It's tucked away and very quiet. The home is modern and in great condition. Frankly, we only used it for sleeping as our short 4 days on the island were filled with activities. We would definitely stay there again.

Better Communication update the house
We rented this property, knowing that it was two bedroom, 3 beds.Upon our arrival, we noticed there were two beds, we called the landlord , she said never three beds, she said someone can sleep on the couch. We showed her her post where it showed three beds are in the 2 bedroom. she said , I don’t know what I was thinking, within an hour she finds a twin bed, not for and adult, a toddler bed.No on can sleep on this small bed, so I winded up sleeping on the couch, with all the money I paid for comfort.,.not..other thing, utensils draw filthy with greasy oil. The lightening was terrible.cant read a book. Master bedroom no light in closet, could not see what clothes to choose, need my light on my phone. Not enough mirrors, one in bathroom, one master bedroom, down stairs bathroom, no sink, disgusting, needed to wash hand in kitchen sink. No mirror in downstairs bathroom. Stale food in cabinet, we never used her food , brought out own. She can use new beach chairs, two were rusted. Other thing, she sent a message to my friend that she needed to get into our private rented house, that she need a blanket that her friend wanted back, she said it was urgent, she couldn’t wait until we checked out. What person rents a house with blankets borrowed from a friend. She should have her own supplies. My experience there at that house not very happy camper, the money I paid

First thought:Pristine...then calming colors on the interior, just beautiful! A Naturally landscaped yard, private, quiet. I am a trained Chef, amazing stove, awesome Weber gas grill on the deck. The jacuzzi bathtub is devine...Love this house...comong back...LOVE

A beautifully-decorated, fully-equipped house on a quiet property full of flowers and birds. Located near the beach and West Tisbury, and an easy drive to every other place on the island. Jackie was a wonderful hostess. If Jackie will have us again, then I hope our family can stay at this house for many years to come!

Beautiful, well kept home.
Beautiful inside and out and very comfortable. My husband and I consider ourselves lucky to have lived in this wonderful home. The landlady was awesome and the wonderful design inspired us as we built our own place. You will enjoy this well kept, charming house and gardens. Very close to local library, delicious restaurants and beaches.

Fantastic Rental in a wonderful part of the Island
What a warm, inviting, and charming home! But even more wonderful--the location. At the dead end of a quiet street with surrounding trails for running and biking in the centrally located West Tisbury township--you can't ask for more. My only reluctance in sharing this review, is that this special home will be more difficult to rent! Jackie is a gracious host and you feel like you are staying at a bed and breakfast and not some tired, vacation rental.

Delightful, nicer than expected.
We have rented on the Island for many years in Chilmark and we were pleasantly surprised at how great this house and West Tisbury is. The kitchen is fantastic and the furnishings were really nice. The owner, lives nearby and is very helpful if needed, otherwise, we never saw or heard her. She has lived on the island for 40 years so she gave us a lot of great information about the island as well as great service when we had questions.
The yard is lovely and the location really works for all kinds of activities. We can't say enough good things about this house. It is so pretty and clean too. We have recommended it to anyone who is looking for a home away from home on the island.

Private, Beautiful House Close to Awesome Beach
We loved our stay at this home. While many vacation homes are standard, this home is beautiful and warm. They have provided everything you need for a wonderful vacation. There are several beaches within minutes of the place with a choice of roaring waves or still waters. All the amenities are in the home for cooking in, and if you choose to go out, there are several great restaurants. We also went bike riding on trails close to the house. We will always remember staying in this home and loving the peaceful setting and the breathtaking island around it.

Paradise
I've stayed here many times in the past and even visited the house when it was being built, many years ago. Over the years, it's evolved and expanded into its current state of joy, complete with sunny rooms an incredible kitchen and an great yard with lots of gardens. Martha's Vineyard has often been referred to as a paradise and this house is a paradise within a paradise. A great place to forget your worries and relax.

Beautiful house, great location! Would recommend!
My husband and I love this house! It is much better in person than in the pictures. It is so comfortable with many lovely touches. You can tell it is someone's home, rather than a rental home. The yard and gardens are pretty and very relaxing. Lots of nice walks around as well. The location is wonderful- it is close to beautiful up-island farms and beaches and only 15 minutes to any of the 3 towns. We highly recommend it!

Better Than Advertised!
This home is so warm and welcoming, we had a hard time leaving to see the beautiful island of Martha's Vineyard! Every detail is well thought out for comfort, beauty and efficiency. The yard is gorgeous and the ambiance is so calming and pleasant. Really a perfect vacation destination in itself.
