Our 2nd stay here and once again had an amazing time. The house was clean and comfortable, the view was perfect, and we loved walking to the pier or to Awful Arthur's for a great dinner. Greg responded almost immediately when we had questions. We hope to be back next year!

What a great property! We spent the whole month in this house and hated to leave it! All the porches were fantastic and the ocean view just could not be beat! Greg was very attentive and quick to respond when we had a problem with the dishwasher. He was there 2 days later with a brand new one. We hope to come back and stay again!

The house was so cute and the old mixed with new was wonderful and made it very homey. The addition of bring pet friendly was another plus. Greg is wonderful to help with any issues or questions. The location is fabulous would definitely recommend this house and location and we will definitely be back

The property was perfect for our off-season getaway. The renovated kitchen, including new appliances, had everything we needed to cook at home while looking out the huge bay windows onto the beach. The kids loved the pool table and the hot tub. The bathrooms were also newly renovated and very nice. The owner could not have been more kind or responsive through the booking process and stay. We liked the location and walked to Awful Arthur's one night and to breakfast at the Jolly Roger another morning. There's everything you could need in this home!

The location was great and the space was wonderful for our family. The walk to the beach was easy and we had all the things we needed to enjoy our stay. My only complaints are that one guest room was not cleaned and there was dog hair and sand in the sheets. The rugs were obviously not vacuumed well. There was quite a bit dog hair on all of them. We filled nearly half the canister of the vacuum after vacuuming the kitchen area and the bed room that my children were sleeping in. I did reach out to the host and he sent the cleaning company over to assist, which was very considerate of him. We had already washed the bedding and vacuumed the rugs as I have a baby that was crawling on the floor, but the fact that an effort was made to help was very much appreciated.

The views from the house are stunning and love that it was right on the beach. We basically had the beach to ourselves most of the time. The house was adequately stocked and very charming. The pool table is coin-operated, which put a bit of a damper on my boy's time, but they opted to do other things instead. Beds were very comfortable. The house is exactly as described in the photos and Greg was very responsive to all of my questions. We had a great family vacation!

We really enjoyed our stay at this home in KDH. The kitchen was beautiful and the view was amazing. We were steps from the beach and there were plenty of comfortable beach chairs. We brought our own umbrella thanks to great communication from the owner but didn't have to waste space in the car for beach chairs. The property, built in 1947, is completely renovated inside but still has the rustic feel of a true beach house. We had a great time at this beach house and the owner was always attentive and a quick phone call away. Thanks,

The house was clean enough when we came in; however, we found leftover items (food under bed) from the previous renters.
The location and views were gorgeous.
The washing machine, a desired and required amenity was broken upon our arrival and was not fixed during our stay.
The pool table was broken upon our arrival and not repaired during our stay.
The refrigerator doors had built in drawers which someone had broken and lazily reinstalled. We lost some of our food when the drawers fell of the doors and came tumbling to the floor.

Perfect spot, beautiful house. Only complaint is that beach restoration was going on while we were there. Poor timing to be doing a project on the beach the week leading into 4th of July weekend. Totally out of homeowners control, wish we were notified about prior. Will be back, but will be paying attention to the next time this work is planned.

Great stay here. When you think of a laid back beachfront home, this is it. Timeless beach house on the outside and modern renovation inside.
Everything was provided for, just bring your toiletries (shampoo/body wash/lotion was not included).
Location on the beach and close to attractions and necessities were an added plus.

Amazing getaway to a perfectly appointed beach house! The look of the exterior is what drew us in..The interiors and the oceanfront setting sealed the deal. The close proximity to the Wright Brothers Memorial/Monument was exactly what we were looking for(and of course to be on the beach as well). PLENTY of room for our teenage boys to spread out — yet congregate at the wonderful pool table…and that they did! Our boys also loved walking down the beach to the pier and playing arcade games (nice folks there too). Thanks to Greg for a beautiful place as well as his dining recommendation of The Black Pelican (fantastic). A stree-free, relaxing Outer Banks getaway (with a focus on visiting the Wright Brothers Monument) was our goal this trip. “Timeless Retreat” beach house checked every box we had. Awesome place! Great views, nicely redone kitchen, dining room, living room area. The archetype of the OBX beach house! The room layouts reflect the 1940s roots of the home (a few are awkward). The heating is uneven in the house. We would stay here again.

We had a very positive experience with this accommodating and flexible host, who went out of his way to help when we had to make a minor change of plans. Most of the interior of the house has been updated nicely, including what I consider most important, the kitchen and bathrooms, as well as the main living space. The exterior spaces/furniture are older and could use a refreshing. We had an excellent stay.

My wife & I were looking for a vacation to relieve the pandemic stress. Having heard about & seen OBX stickers, we started looking here. A friend suggested VRBO and we found this gem! We booked it and just could not wait to get there. We had our daughters, a boyfriend of the daughter and our doggy Raja. The boyfriend is now the fiancé following his romantic beach proposal!!
Once we arrived at this house, we were awestruck at the view of the ocean from the upper deck! We woke up every morning to see some spectacular sunrises and dolphins playing in the ocean.
The house is well rounded. The kitchen and dining areas are phenomenal. We would all gather there and work on our laptops, play games, have lunches. The kitchen itself is great with modern appliances and pots and pans. I suggest that you look at the upper cabinet for spices & such left by prior visitors. The bathrooms are convenient as well.
The location is just perfect. Everything you want is 5 to 10 minutes away.
Greg was a great communicator. The whole reservation process & the stay was without a hitch.
We will be back again in the future. I have already recommended this to all my friends and coworkers.
We highly recommend this exceptional house for a memorable family vacation.

The reason why I can not give you a 5 star is because of the cleanliness of the home. The ice from dispenser came out black, the fridge was not cleaned before we came, the carpet in powder room had yellow stains on it and one of the upstairs bedsheets must not have been changed because there was some yellow stuff on the sheets (I have pictures). There was a used glass on windowsill of one of the bedrooms and as another reviewer noted no extra garbage bags or dishwashing detergent. Your price includes housekeeping and extra precautions, but based on above I do not think that is what you offer. I was concerned all week for my family about sleeping on all of the other beds because of what I found on the one, but thankfully I did bring my Lysol and Clorox wipes. I feel bad that I have to give you this review because truly we had a fabulous week spending time together at your beach house in spite of the cleanliness.

We stayed here over Labor Day week and it’s a wonderful location. Walkable you Avalon pier, we really enjoyed our stay. The majority of the home is recently renovated - everything except the upstairs bedrooms it seem. The only real issue we had was the wifi going in and out. A tech came and worked on it, but it was spotty our whole trip, which was tough with children. Otherwise it was a good week!

Greg’s beach house was absolutely amazing. My wife and I stayed 7 days with our infant son and had a good old fashioned beach bum vacation.
The house couldn’t be in a better location as you step off of the two level deck right into the sand. The decor and “flow” of the house is great. While the modern renovations and amenities are wonderful, the house still has an old time rustic charm with its rustic wood floors and covered porch.
We watched the sun rise up from over the ocean every morning while we sipped our coffee (god bless the fine people at the Nags Head Fresh Market for their incredible variety of ground coffee)
And in the evenings we had the luxury of the hot tub and Greg’s pool table down in the family room.
The internet was a bit choppy but we were “off the grid” for the week and attributed it to the high winds moving through the area. We never even bothered Greg about it but had we done so I have no doubt he would have been quick to help us resolve it.
We can’t say enough good thing about the experience and we hope that our host will have us back the next time we vacation OBX. Thanks for everything Greg!
