Ptarmigan House is a shabby chic 3bdrm/3bath, private cottage-style home located just minutes from downtown Homer, AK. All amenities a vacationing couple, or family would need or want are here, including new appliances, and a new BBQ grill on a deck with panoramic views of Kachemak Bay. Every detail has been attended to, including La Creuset cookware, and beautiful pottery dishware in the kitchen. Beautiful 4 poster beds outfitted with ultra-high thread count sheets, and new mattresses will ensure a peaceful nights rest. Flat panel TV's and an X-Box 360 gaming system are on hand for those times you just want to kick back and relax. Comfy leather couches and hand painted furniture in the living areas guarantee your stay will be relaxing and stress free. The house is impeccably clean for the most discriminating guests. The 3100 sq. ft. home, built in 2009 will sleep 8-10 comfortably. If you are looking for the ultimate home away from home, then the Ptarmigan House is it!

This home is beautiful. The beds are so comfortable and it has all the amenities you need. We mostly stayed in and cooked and had everything we needed. But most importantly was the view. This is a million dollar view. I grew up in Homer and this just wowed me.

The views here cannot be beat! We could barely pull ourselves off the deck. The beds are super comfortable and the appointments in this house the best we’ve ever seen. (and we travel extensively). The house is impeccably clean and everything you could want is provided. Fun to watch the pheasant and Steller Jays in the yard. All 4 of us just loved this place!

We absolutely loved our stay here. The home was beautiful, and the view was incredible. Everyone had their own space, and the location was great. The beds were comfy, and we loved playing cards at the dining room table. Wish we could have stayed longer. There was even a bald eagle that hung out on the roof!

Great place to stay. Comfortable for 4 adults when it came to sitting in the living room. The kitchen was well equipped with cookware and spices. Bring your own coffee though. There were 2 of the 4 beds that allowed for a darker room to sleep, if that matters to you. The view was work $1M, very nice to sit at the house and enjoy the Homer feel.

The pictures on this listing do not do the house justice! It’s what dreams are made of. The views alone make this place awesome. I never wanted to leave. Plenty of space for our group of six. The only thing that was missing would have been some yard games and a fire pit. I wouldn’t hesitate to return if I ever find myself in Homer again.

We had a wonderful time in Homer! The house is beautiful and very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and we enjoyed meals from the dining room with views over Kachemak Bay.

This house was beautiful. You walk in, and you immediately see the windows facing the gorgeous mountains. Sunny, cloudy, foggy—-all were beautiful views. The beds were so comfortable; we all slept great. One important note in my mind… it was one of the cleanest vacation rentals we’ve ever stayed at, and I’m picky about cleanliness! So that was very much appreciated. We chartered for salmon on the Kenai River one day and fished for halibut with a charter another day right from Homer. The location was great for reaching both destinations. It’s an easy drive (maybe 15 minutes) to the spit. We went down there several times. We were also excited to see a mama moose and her two calves hang out in the yard for at least an hour one morning. The living room was cozy, the dining room table was large enough for all of us, the kitchen was well stocked, and you can’t help but stare out those windows! We would’ve been outside on the deck more often, but it rained most of the time we were there. It didn’t stop us from grilling salmon though. Plus, the mountains were so neat to watch with the ever-changing clouds and random rays of sun peaking through at times. Our party consisted of my in-laws, my husband, and our two teenage sons. There was plenty of space for all of us, and it has a perfect yard for my boys to run around playing catch. If I find myself in Homer in the future, I’d for sure book here again. Don’t hesitate to stay here!

after missing the number sign to the property because gps took us past the driveway, we found it, and it was amazing
Getting into the house was simple, it was clean and the VIEW!! was out of this world!!! My friends and I high fived that we made a good decisiion on thi property and went directly t the porch to start taking pictures even though it was raining. We will be renting this again if available next time we head to Homer. one afternoon the girls went to nap and I couldnt so I just pulled up a chair in the loft grabbed the binoculars and headphones and jusrted watching the bay, the mountains, the birds, the planes. It was an amazing time

Lovely sea themed house. Had an amazing panoramic view of the bay! Could easily of slept 8 if it is couples or people who don't mind sharing beds. A short 10minute drive from everything Homer has to offer. Would highly recommend and stay again.

This place is a gem!
We had a wonderful stay in Homer at this house. It is beautifully decorated, spacious and has absolutely amazing views. It was the perfect home base for our family to visit Homer and there is a huge yard for kids to run around and play in. We would definitely come back to this house if given the chance!!

We enjoyed being a bit removed from the town, the area is peaceful and has such a lovely view while still close enough to all the activities we were interested in. The house was well appointed and had plenty of space to spread out. We would definitely stay here again.

The few things that made it difficult- no place to put a suitcase in small bedroom on main floor. We had two suitcases so had to put one in the laundry room. It worked ,but not handy. Another on a chair in bathroom. Dining room table & chairs were very uncomfortable. Lots of decor which looked great but hard to find a spot to put our stuff. A bit less clutter would be helpful. Kitchen was great! Nice dishes, glassware & pans. Beds were comfortable. Lots of household supplies….fantastic to not run out! Host was wonderful!

The house was definitely under promoted! The views from this house of the mountains and the Homer Spit are stunning!! We didn’t realize that the bedrooms are on three different floors. The bedroom in the lowest level of the house also has a sitting area and sliding glass door access to the outside. Kitchen has everything you need for cooking and nice grill on the deck for cooking out. We would definitely want to stay her again on our next visit to Homer!

We were 2 couples that stayed at the house. The house is simply gorgeous. The house is well appointed and the kitchen is well stocked. There was plenty of space for us to stretch out and enjoy the spectacular views. And let me repeat, the views are spectacular. We sat on the porch and enjoyed the view each night. When it got too chilly, we sat inside and were able to look out of the gorgeous windows. We loved the spaciousness of the house and the 3 levels. Because we were 2 couples traveling, we were able to have our own space and not feel crowded. But, there was also plenty of space to be together as well. We will certainly be back to Homer and the Ptarmigan House. Thank you for making our stay in Homer so spectacular!
