About this house rental
Located in La Plata County, this lovely house for £479 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. NOTE: 4WD/AWD required in winter with snow tires (Thanksgiving through late March). Chains can be rented in the neighborhood for $30/day. Modeled after the old gold and silver mines in the area, our 3,300 square foot, 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath, custom built home is situated above Little Cascade creek on 2 secluded acres. Only 2 miles from Purgatory Ski Resort and 24 miles from historic downtown Durango, yet the 'Creek House' offers privacy and seclusion and has been outfitted to be the ultimate vacation rental - private Hot Tub (Brand new Feb 2024), Sauna, pool table, outdoor gas fire pit, 3 decks with great views, gas fire pit on the main deck, 2 separate living spaces, Direct TV, BBQ grill, games and of course the relaxing sounds of the creek, which brings back guests year after year. The home features Starlink WIFI with average internet speeds over 100mbs (we have noted them over 200mbs). The luxurious home is furnished with rustic, high quality furnishings, historic mining and western photos and features TVs in the Main Living space (60') and the 2nd living space (42') and three of the bedrooms (42'). In addition, there is a kids playroom as well as a high chair, stair gates, plastic dishes, kids books and toys. Bed Configuration: Master Bedroom - King Bed with TV and Ensuite Bath (3rd Floor) 2nd Bedroom - King Bed with TV (3rd Floor) 3rd Bedroom- King Bed and TV (Bottom Floor - along with pool table, hot tub and sauna) 4th - Queen and 2 sets of bunk beds (twin over twin) - (4th floor) This home is pet friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs max and the pet fee is $40/day (for a max $250 per stay). Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years). The location of the Rental, maintenance and the condition of the various appliances are amazing. It's even good exercise for everyone as you have to navigate though 4 stairs. The responses from the team on any questions is highly appreciated. we did not have any urgencies to call and find out. Totally its a good experience to have and highly recommend it.

The house was great and had all the items we needed while we were there. It was a short drive to the ski slopes. The beds were comfy. We cooked most of the time while we were there and we liked how they had all the cooking utensils we needed and that they had condiments like salt and pepper to use for our meals. We enjoyed lighting the wood burning fireplace and hanging out after skiing. The only thing we didn't like was the hot tub was a little dirty and had debris floating around. The owner was very easy to communicate with and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

The house is only minutes away from Purgatory ski slopes, and the views are stunningly beautiful. Beds were very comfortable. We loved using the sauna, the hot tub, firepit, fireplaces and pool table. The kitchen was well-appointed and had some of the basics in the pantry (S&P, EVOO, spices, etc...). The large dining table worked well and allowed us to eat all together (6 adults and 5 teens/kids). All 3 of our cars were AWD or 4WD, but when the snow/ice got bad, only the car with chains could make it in/out of the driveway. The road to the house is VERY slow going in the snow, so even though Purgatory is super close, it can take 15 minutes to get down the road. Overall - Great house for a large group!

We timed our winter trip as perfect as the stay was at this home! Started snowing day 1 and didn't stop hardly at all for the next 10 days. The house was exactly as described - actually, better - multi level and extremely spacious for our family of 6. We had all the comforts of home and then some - sauna, hot tub, pool table to name a few! Enjoyed so many features of a well-stocked house; huge kitchen/dining for cooking meals - loved grilling on the back deck and all the seating for tired skiers to lounge by the living room fireplace in the evenings not to mention the large bedrooms and comfy matresses.During the stay, the management team was on top of it - with the snow storm we mentioned firewood was running a little low one afternoon and by the next morning the entire cord was filled for us. We also had messages checking on us when we arrived as well as during the stay. Top notch customer service. Lastly, the location - if you're not at the resort itself - this is about as close as it gets. Coming out of the neighborhood to the main highway we could see the ski resort entrance - it made driving to/from Purgatory quick and easy (well... easy in winter as long as you have 4WD like it states very clearly for the property!) All in all one of our best stays at Purg - we can't thank Keith and all of his VRC team enough for their hospitality - LOVED IT!

Beautiful home with amazing views! Love the layout! Master bath is amazing! Family area very comfortable. It is at least 35 min from Durango so be prepared to be on the road a lot if you aren’t into cooking on vacation. I had read the reviews from last October so I knew there might be a fly problem and there definitely was. The property manager was very helpful though and brought fly swatters and sticky pads. Apparently the flies are bad from Oct-November. They appear in the afternoon on the windows when the sun is out and disappear when the sun goes down. Thankfully they stay around the windows.I was a bit surprised that we were expected to start a load of towels before we left as well as start the dishwasher and clean out the refrigerator. Trash has to be hauled to the main road. All in all we enjoyed this property and all it has to offer.

Great cabin in the woods
Our family had a nice time here and the location was perfect next to Purgatory. The road got blocked one night due to the snow causing a driver’s vehicle to slide, but we were able to pass within an hour. Definitely make sure you have all wheel drive for the winter. The microwave didn’t work when we arrived, but the host was easy to work with and someone came to check and fix it right away. Overall, a beautiful place in the woods that felt remote, but was relatively close to everything we needed.

Amazing views!
The property has the most amazing views, we can only imagine how beautiful it would be with snow covering those pines. The house is comfortable for all ages but note there are 4 floors( lots of steps). Baby gates were at the home which helped in keeping 1 year old on main level. The kitchen was well stocked and perfect for family dinners and dining area worked well for family game night. Unfortunately, fire restrictions were in effect so we were unable to have outdoor bon fires, Mother Nature can’t be controlled. All in all, we loved property and would stay again.

I had to book this house as a back up to my original stay and I’m so glad I had to because this house is a quite the gem along the lake near purgatory resort! The hosts were amazing from in depth details for everything you’d need during your stay to local recommendations to indulge in. We opted in to staying in and cooking and this house came equipped with every utensil needed to cook a full spread for every meal! The house itself is a statement, it is so beautifully decorated and makes you feel right at home. The hot tub and sauna were amazing after long days on the slopes and snowmobiling. Already talking about coming back later this year with another group that’s how amazing this property was, communication with the owner was astounding they were able to help us with any matter that came to hand. Thank y’all for such an amazing experience!

My family and n laws stayed here for a week and it was absolutely perfect! We had an amazing time experiencing Colorado for the first time but no one was ever disappointed to go back “home”.
