Location wise it is the best property to stay.. All Facilities were good, they arranged the BBQ for our group. Beach is like 10 min walk from the stay. They have vending machine on the property

Calm and authentic guest house and friendly staff.
The hallway and shared bathrooms were not ventilated well and it got very hot even at night so going to the bathroom was unpleasant. Luckily the individual rooms have AC.

The girl at reception was amazing! Nice area (garden) to hang out. Simple, but comfortable stay, very good value. Loved the restaurant next door, too!

Beautiful house and nice cozy rooms, the owner of the place is super nice, she even drove me to the store with her car and took me to the nearest city to buy some stuff! It really felt like home and I would recommend this place to anybody staying in the area. Beautiful nature surrounding the place.
As already stated by other guests, the walls are really thin, but while I was staying there my neighbours were all really quiet at night so that wasn't a problem at all. Without a car it's not that easy to reach stores, restaurants etc.

The location was great, the staff was also great.
I forgot to mention to the staff that I was riding a motorcycle.
When I arrived, they cleared a spot with an overhead covering. Never has this ever happened to me in Japan. Most often I just park in the regular parking lot, or stay will tell me there is no motorcycle parking.
Thank you so much for this help.
The walls are thin, I could hear a lot of voices from the rooms nearby.
The bathrooms were a little dusty, but this was probably because it was at the end of the day.

One of the bathrooms has a bathtub, We enjoyed the retro-public-bath style ofuro after long riding. It was really relaxing. The room is full of quaint atmosphere. We slept futon on the floor, which my boyfriend liked it a lot.
The location isn't amazing. It was hard to reach this hostel and there was pretty much nothing around. Due to Covid19, the restaurant in front of the hostel closed, we couldn't find anywhere for dinner. The receptionist didn't explain much. We found it unkind.

With the right people it could be fun to use the facilities like barbecue…
No value for the money!
No hot water for the shower…
The bath facilities are absolutely disgusting…
Towels & toothbrush only upon request
Communicating in English is a challenge…
No recommendations for the area…

The host was very friendly and helpful. Beds were made up and comfortable. You can order food to be delivered. Clean. Its close to the train station. Good value. You can use the kitchen.
There was some noise from other guests, sliding doors does not insulate it well. There was also a small gap in our doors so people could see in. Closing/locking the doors is a bit fiddly so made a noise. The bathrooms are shared. Quite isolated, only 1 bar/restaurant nearby and that had a private function, no shops nearby. 5pm check-in is very late.

This was my second stay at Shanshui House. I went to do some hiking in the area and wanted a place that was clean, quiet and reasonably price. I got it. The couple running the small Japanese style inn are really friendly and helpful. They introduced me to a good restaurant 10 minutes away and were nice enough to take me (and a friend staying at a different hotel) there by car. About 2 hours later, they then picked us up and even dropped off my friend. We hiked on a great trail near there today. I will try to again this year!
I wanted to stay another day but have to go to work.
