Sweet cottage in a beautiful location. Easy access to Lake Champlain and all it has to offer. We enjoyed the available paddle craft and kept our family motor boat tied up at the private dock. Wonderful week on the lake!

We loved our stay at Camp Johnson! The cabin is beautiful and well-appointed and the beds are very comfortable. We loved being able to access the lake on either side of the point, and had fun swimming, stand up paddle boarding, and taking in the spectacular views from the many indoor and outdoor sitting areas. The hosts were very accommodating and communicative. We will definitely book again!

Camp Johnson provided a perfect experience for our week’s stay near Burlington. The setting is beautiful and peaceful. You can enjoy both sunrises and sunsets. The cottage was immaculate with a well stocked kitchen and ample bed and bath linens. We hope to return again.

The photos of this listing and previous reviews are accurate. If you are like me a sucker for knotty pine woodwork, you will love this place. It is practically brand new and you have access to the water both to the east bay side where it is protected a bit and to the west to the open lake and glorious sunsets. The kitchen is well-stocked with dishware and cookware. You are roughing it to some degree -given the rent- as there is no A/C, dishwasher, washer/dryer or TV and some "camp rules" governing water usage and septic system. There is Internet/wifi. It was very hot when we stayed in late July - unusual for Vermont - but there is usually a breeze to be found somewhere around and a jump in the lake will cool you down instantaneously if need be. There are several other cottages around and the road to some of them runs right next to the house, but it was surprisingly quiet and blissfully free of campfire smoke - an annoyance when you want to have your windows open wide. The hosts were great.

Located on a quiet, idyllic inlet, I felt the tension drop from my shoulders moments after walking in. The screened porch is made for relaxing and beautiful views are out each window. Ample dishes, cookware and utensils in the kitchen and comfortable beds. An easy drive to Ferrisburgh, Burlington or other areas for site seeing. The ferry at Charlotte is also close by for a trip across Lake Champlain to Essex. Host Kevin was friendly and very responsive to questions and with communication. Looking forward to visiting again!

Lovely renovated camp with water views in all directions
We stayed for 4 weeks in July and thoroughly enjoyed being at Camp Johnson and being a part of the friendly Long Point community. Upon arrival, we were pleased to find the main living space and bedrooms larger than anticipated from the photos. Being surrounded by water was so restful and we felt very close to nature. The screened-in porch was fabulous for afternoon naps and reading a book. The camp has been fully renovated and everything is very well done. There is a closet and a dresser in both bedrooms. The owners were very helpful in setting up my husband's work from home area, including updating the wifi and bringing a table. We didn't miss A/C, except during a few nights of unusually hot weather. There isn't a dishwasher or w/d but that was fine too. Given the length of our stay, we did have to go to a laundromat a few times in Shelburne, but it was next to a supermarket so tying those errands together made it no big deal. Don't leave things near the screens on the porch that you don't want to get wet if it rains hard. We were there for unusually rainy weather and still had a lot of fun. Cycling is great from the house. Paddleboarding, swimming, and kayaking. Access to Burlington, Middlebury, and Stowe, and lots of camping/hiking. Really a great month!

The lake is all you need!
Together with my quarantine bubble, we headed to this wonderful oasis to change our work from home routine. We are so glad we did! This home is in an ideal location, surrounded by lake views on both front and back of the house. You will not miss a TV and will just want to watch the lake and assemble puzzles while you are there. We wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely be back. Communication was great, we ran into a few issues while we were there but the team was responsive and quick to resolve.

We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay at Camp Johnston. We especially appreciated the varied water views from every room, as well as, the variety of spots to hang out and read afforded by a very comfortable screened-in porch, bedroom perch with a rocking chair and outdoor Adirondack chairs viewing those very same mountains in the distance.
It was a bit too windy for kayaking when we were there, but friends from the area tell us it is a lovely area for birding and exploring by boat.
The clean-up requirements were more extensive than we have experienced at other short term rentals given both the daily rate and the cleaning fee, but in the midst of the COVID pandemic they seemed understandable.

This house was exactly what we were looking for as a getaway from the WFH grind. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets in the Adirondack chairs and then awesome moonscapes from the dock. Some of the best VT has to offer!!

We had the most magical week. Although we were only 30+ minutes away from home, we felt like we were 1000 miles away. We spent as much time on the water as possible with paddleboarding and kayaking. Friends stopped by and moored their sailboat in the bay which was ideal. Having the house on the bayside felt like we were staying on a boat. Watching the sun rise to over the bay & the sunset over the lake, was dreamy. It is an ideal location having view and access to both.

Lovely Lakeside Retreat in Quiet Community
Camp Johnson has everything you need and nothing you don't. The house is perched above a small cove where it has a private dock, which is deep enough for a small boat. Across the road from the house is a lovely rocky beach with a longer pier for swimming in the lake. My family and I simply loved watching the sunset over NY each evening. It's a truly magical spot in a lovely little vacation community.
The house must have been renovated very recently (writing in 2020). All the appliances, furniture, lights, etc. worked well. Coming to such a well equipped home was a welcome change for us. We loved the stand up paddle board and used it to explore the shoreline and lap the island west of the house. The roads near the house are terrific for cycling, if that's your thing.
A few general comments, the house has plenty of windows and ceiling fans but no A/C. We had a few hot days (80s and low 90s) during our two week stay and I felt like the house stayed very cool / comfortable. Nothing a quick dip in the lake couldn't fix. To me, this was perfect.
The house doesn't have a dish washer or washing machine for clothes. The lack of washing machine was a little tough for a two week stay, but we made do.
The screened in porch has a lovely bed and it's a terrific place for a nap or to spend a night. If you're coming during the summer, it can definitely be used as a bedroom. Also, there's a full pullout bed in the living room.
Camp Johnson is a lovely spot to spend your vacation. We highly recommend it.
