This house is on a corner lot and has privacy on three sides. It’s on the edge of a marsh and a nature lover’s dream. I saw 45 bird species over three days. You can launch kayaks right from the property into the Assawoman Canal. Kayaks are available at the house but only one has a seat. The 1970s house is slightly dated but completely functional. The kitchen is well stocked and appliances are newer. Linens are provided. We loved spending time on the screened-in back porch. We would definitely rent this house again.

Great location. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Don't get me wrong, we loved the location and the casual atmosphere of this cabin-like home. We loved that it is on the Assawoman Canal with easy access for our kayaks. Close to Assawoman wildlife nature park, the beach, and boardwalk! We did it all!! Even chartered shark fishing with top fin charter in Lewes. The home is somewhat dated in bathrooms and kitchen, although well stocked. The plastic adirondack chairs are very flimsy, which was a shame since the deck and screen porch were fabulous views where wildlife abounds, and sturdier chairs would have made for a more enjoyable less worrisome experience. There was old coffee in the pot and grounds in the basket. Several cracked, chipped dishes. Toilet seats both bathrooms very loose which we fixed. Ceiling fan remote didn't work and was on constantly, later we discovered battery was in backwards. Fridge ice/water dispenser very discolored prob from hard water. Shower head needs a good cleaning or replacement as the jet holes have black mold on them and spray in sev directions. Even with all that, we still enjoyed the home mostly for its quiet location away from the crowds, but still close to everything! Please note, the property management company, Vascasa, manages this home and will bill separately and send docs of their own to sign. They also removed all comments from my review on their site that had the TLC needed itmes.....

This was a great place for our family to get a weekend away. We'd definitely return to this property, located near some natural beauty.

We have spent many trips at the beach but never on the Assawoman waterways and it was incredible. The house is in an amazing spot with perfect orientation to the vast beauty of the marshes. The house is in need of a deep cleaning as the floors were sticky and clearly have not been mopped in a long time. The house has had cats which should have been advertised for anyone with allergies. There was cat hair on the sofas and strong smell of catboxes in both downstairs closets. Final concern was the bunkbeds were so loose that we could not put sheets ont eh upper bunks safely. We had a set of allan wrenches so we tightened everything up but we got in at night with a family of 6 and needed those beds so it could have been bad since Vacasa does not have after hours service. There are also no cleaning products anywhere in the house to clean up spills or windows. No dish towels at all or toilet paper, dishwasher soap for more than a day or two, so be sure to pack those for yourself. Also no beach towels, chairs or umbrellas, so bring your own.
Those are the criticisms but the house is wonderful, the 4 kayaks got used daily, which were so great to have for fishing and touring the marsh. Beds were comfortable and kitchen well stocked. Never got instructions for what we needed to do in the house for checkout, but checkout process was super easy. Great house for the price and for a really peaceful experience.

We loved our time. In fact it may have been the best vacation home we've ever stayed at in terms of location and style. We are nature lovers and the Assawoman wetland setting was amazing. We all love the kayak tours around the canal and marshlands. To have that in the backyard and the ocean down the street is perfect. The home was artistic and tasteful in its simplicity. We'd love to go back any time of year.

This house has it all. Close enough to the beach and Bethany that you can ride a bike there. It is a nature lovers paradise.

House was open and airy, having kayaks to take out onto the canal was great. Location only a mile from South Bethany Beach very convenient.

This house is ideal for anyone wanting a beach vacation away from the crowds (but close enough to bike to the beach crowds when desired) and anyone who loves nature and wildlife. The view of the marshes from the back screened-in porch is breathtaking. We saw deer, a fox, blue heron, osprey, and lots of other birds while there. The access to the kayaks was a huge bonus - we got to see parts of the canals we’ve never visited before. In many ways, the house made our vacation!

We had a great thanksgiving at this property- extremely clean, well-equipped kitchen to cook our turkey, and plenty of bath/bed linens. The location was quiet with beautiful scenery and also close to all the conveniences. Cell service and Wi-Fi were both weak, which made streaming devices difficult. Wouldn’t be a problem if you plan on going out all day. The cable was great and there were a good selection of games to play. Overall a great property.

Having stayed at many vacation properties I can say without hesitation that this is the most accurate listing I have ever encountered. It's just as beautiful as it looks on the web and even with most of our days being overcast/dreary/drizzly, we still had a wonderful time. The porch is huge, the furniture is wonderfully accommodating, the kitchen is well stocked with all manner of cooking utensils and the location is perfection. 100% I would stay there again.
That being said, there were three components that were less than ideal for our group. The first is that the WiFi is horrible (it was hard to even order groceries), and while that was fine with me and my books, my teens were unable to stream any games and videos. It also made it very difficult to do the little bit of schoolwork that was needed. The second is that the kayaks are missing the back supports. We had hoped to do more kayaking, but this prevented that. And the third, which can't be helped, but might be of interest, is that the whole house sways when someone, anyone is walking anywhere in the building. This is probably by virtue of being set up so high on the pylons and right on the water's edge (IN the water due to the flooding warnings while we were there), but for our light sleepers, it was a distraction.
Still 5 stars though!

My family and I really enjoyed this place. Very nice setting near marshland and streams. House had 4 kayaks, which we used. Clean and comfortable, and less than 1 mile from the beach. Staff was friendly and responsive, especially when I reported key stuck in lock for kayaks. Would stay again.

Very nice location by Assawoman Canal. It has natural scenery on two sides of the home. Very private location with nice neighborhood. Just remember to bring your bug spray if you want to hang out near the canal, especially at night. It's beautiful, but the bugs are hungry.
Launch your own kayak, or use one of the supplied kayaks at the home. It doesn't get any better for kayakers. Canal is amazing.
Nice place to bike too. We had only two problems:
The outside deck near the canal has had a broken lock on it
for the three years that we've been staying there. We've let them know but it's still broken. If you have something valuable (who doesn't), someone can just go up the outside steps to the deck and walk in, and help themselves. Also the cleaning service that wanted to charge us $299.99 for a two week stay left a pile of laundry on the washer and an even larger pile with flies all over it outside on the steps going into the unit. Gross.
The furniture looked out of place, like the cleaning service ran out of time and didn't finish. Very low marks for the service.
Over all, a nice location for kayakers, bikers, and anyone wanting a quiet vacation full of nature.

This home is perfectly situated for contemplating the nature all around. On a peninsula jutting into Little Assawoman Bay, the views of nature on a 270 degree arc make this home the perfect place to relax. It is large, comfortable, and fully equipped, and the wood-burning fireplace adds the right touch for a winter getaway. Loved it!

Wonderful place right on the canal and marsh. Only concern was that one of the doors would not lock - locks had become mis-aligned. We r ported this, so I hope it will be fixed.

We loved it. The living area is open with a comfy chair situated perfectly to enjoy the view. Huge deck and screened in porch perfect for bird watching. Kayaks included with easy launch right from the property. We loved kayaking and exploring the canal, creek, and salt marshes. Close to the beach but set back in a quiet neighborhood at the end of the street so it feels somewhat secluded. Perfect!
