The listing is very deceiving. I never really leave bad reviews but felt there were a few things to take note of. The bed was like a cot - you could feel all the springs & it was concave. The room was maybe 10x14 feet, you could hear the steam boiler whistling all night long and every little noise, even several rooms away. They said there was a grab & go breakfast but it was just Folgers coffee & frozen breakfast burritos. Maybe a decent one night stop over spot had it been under $100, but for $135, wouldn't recommend as your first option.

picture does not show the single story old dumpy hotel across the street that they use. no internet and no tv

Great location.

It is no 5 star hotel by any means. What you get is what is advertised. If you are looking for a warm place to stay between Anchorage/Seward this is an option that works....there is no fridge/tv/microwave/electronics/modern stuff which is great if you are just looking for a warm room....the bed is hard as a rock and you best have a chiropractor appointment ready for after your stay because you will need it....but if you don't want to get eaten by bears, stay in a tent, get wet, sleep in your car and you don't want to swim in the sewage smelling lake, the hotel room in and of it's self is clean, you get a warm room/shower...never saw anyone so that was fine as well. We just needed a place to stay and not pay an arm/leg for and this worked.

There was a misunderstanding on prices, but I let them know and they were considerate enough to rectify this, which I greatly appreciated. Loved our view from the 2nd story.

Good people, service and food!
Room clean and comfortable.
Not a Hilton, but for the price a good “Alaska” hotel. We will be back.

Not what was expected!

Bit of a mix up with check in meaning we had to move rooms. 2 nd room was better. Basic facilities but clean and fresh in second room. Great to have a bar/ restaurant for food. Chilli was delicious. In morning only coffee provided. Can buy homemade packaged cakes… delicious. Nothing else really around it. No coffee/ tea/ fridge etc in room. No air con. Cheap but basic.

The Trail Lodge was a much better price range than the rooms at Seward. A mini fridge would have been nice. There’s no AC, or fan, but the window had a screen, and the temp was fine. Our biggest complaint was the mattress. It was a 1 star. Ugh! There’s not tv, or phone, so we walked over to the lodge which is very log cabin and was clean. The staff were all hospitable. The beer was good. She even gave a little sip of the on taps so we’d get what we like. Later we had the best wings!

Staff was delightful. The area is gorgeous. Motel is old and in need of upgrades. No kleenex, fridge, or coffee maker in room and only one outlet. Expected better for $130.

Visiting family so just needed a place to sleep

Overall, decent hotel. Above a bar which can be a bit noisy, but that calms down by midnight. The big problem for us was that the second bed was tiny. If your child is 5 or less, this combo would work. Otherwise, the place is a tight fit and not a great value.

Was looking for an affordable location for the night between two days at Kenai Fyords and this place was great. Although I did not eat there, there was what appeared to be a great restaurant associated with the property. It was lake front but again I was not able to see what options or views there may have been. The room was across the street from the restaurant and was basic but easily filled my needs of a clean and comfortable place to sleep and shower for the night. Would certainly stay again if back in the area.

Quaint vintage lodge in a gorgeous setting. We could have sat on the dock all night. Well, we practically did, it was light til midnite. Wonderful view, great food, super friendly staff. We would absolutely stay here again.

The scenery. The kayak tour on the lake.

View is amazing! Staff is super nice. Stayed 2 separate nights. 1 night room had icky odor. Second night a different room was fine. Beds are ok for comfort. Small. But we didn’t need much. Had 3 in our room. Good darkened rooms for sleeping. Has a restaurant and bar. 2 of us loved their burgers. My salmon was ok. Priced right. Again, nice staff!

The property is a neat little place on a lake with beautiful scenery. It's an older place and there is nothing fancy.
The people are pleasant to talk to, and very helpful. The restaurant had good food. There were 4 people in our room, and there was not enough hot water to go around.
Cold showers aren't my thing. Other than that, everything was great.

I was glad to get to the lodge after a day of rain. they had a main lodge and another motel-like building across the street. It was clean and quiet, but no ice machine that I found. I met friends from back in Michigan that was traveling too! We had a very good dinner on sight.

This is a fun, historic place right on a lake where float planes take off and land. They also have a quite good restaurant for lunch and dinner meals. Building shows its age as do the rooms but, again, one is staying in an older and historic place. It is about 20-30 minutes from Seward so we drove back and forth several times during our 2-night stay. Note that you'll pay much less for this place than similar lodging options in Seward.

Expensive for basically the worse hotel on our 3 week trip so far… No internet.

Here for one night on a stop through. Place is clean, shower was hot with good water pressure, and the restaurant had good food. It's not luxury but great place for us.

Hotel was Okay. No TV. A place to sleep. When we booked we thought we were staying at the lodge, but instead it was down the street.

Really great area. Right off a lake. Has a restaurant in other building where you get your free coffee in the morning.

Convenient location to Hope, Cooper Landing, Seward. A little dated. Beautiful view of Trail Lake!
Only bar & restaurant in town, but food was good!

The room is big, clean, and comfy, but the bathroom is too small. There's no hairdryer. Wifi signal is kinda weak. Overall is good.

The atmosphere is so homey and the views are amazing!!

The property has a lot of potential, but our stay was quite disappointing. Wi-Fi did not work in our room and despite letting the staff know about it twice it never got fixed. The accomodations are very basic. The room/furniture is very old. The mattress was also quite old and kind of uncomfortable. You can feel the springs. The view from the property is excellent though, right on a lake with mountains in the background. Also had a decent bar, which closes at 9pm - wish it was open later.

No breakfast in this facility.

Perfect location older but very nice

Clean, safe, warm place to stay after spending the day around Seward. Restaurant and bar below was great. 3 adults shared a room with 1 queen and a twin. There was couch with a pull out bed but would have been quite tight for 5 adults. Internet would not work for us but we all had cell service and could mobile hot spot for what little we needed to do on the computer.

Very disappointing! Room is dirty and old and I can smell mold. There’s no fridge , no TV , no hairdryer. You can hear the noise from another room and the shower is disgusting.

The property is not as pictured. They put us in a building across the street. No tv, a folding chair to sit at no desk, dirty carpeting, hairballs in the bathroom, no ice bucket or ice machine, no coffee maker in room or in the lobby. A total disappointment. I can believe that Expedia would indorse this place. If there were negative stars I would give it a -5 stars.
