You can’t beat the location .. it’s 10 steps from Ottawa’s best pedestrian center . The hotel is clean , and great - no complaints whatsoever . Also a great buffet buffet that’s free for kids under 15 , $25 otherwise . The kids loved the pool , all good !

Good room, seemed clean and everything was working as intended. You are downtown with plenty of tall buildings around so the view is not what you stay here for. I slept well, was not disturbed, I mean there is nothing bad to say about my stay.

Their parking was under renovation so I had to park my EV on charge at Rideau centre, they charge 20$ which the hotel doesn’t cover which is not too bad. What im a bit frustrated about is the fact that around 23h, I couldn’t go to my own vehicle because the parking lot was closed and nobody at the front desk could help me, ended up loosing 2 hours and ruining part of my night.

This hotel is well located but the ventilation system has serious issues. First I was on the 9th floor and was boiling, my room felt like a sauna and I couldn’t sleep all night. I asked to change rooms, they put me on another floor which also had issues with room temperature, it was suddenly too cold and I had to crank up the heat so the air wasn’t cold. It’s probably the worse ventilation system I’ve seen and I travel a lot. The room was ok but bathrooms felt a bit out dated. Great located and the staff is very nice.

The hallways were freezing within the hotel, going to the pool. There were no nonslip stairs. The pool was not cleaned regularly, and the fire alarm went off we are in the morning, because security did not do it. Job would not recommend this hotel at all.

We had a great stay here! We walked all over the market and had a delicious charcuterie board in the hotel restaurant - best we have had. Room was spotless, bed comfortable and staff great!

No hot tub with the pool as advertised. Fire Alarm went off for a false alarm Sunday morning at 8:30... You cannot walk outside without being accosted by the homeless for spare change or cigarettes. Then there are the crackheads and dope up people scattered everywhere. Downtown Ottawa is not a safe or inviting place. The rooms at this hotel are tiny and our particular room door had visible signs of break and entry... Just stay away

Where to start! There was no parking at the hotel, we had to park across the street in the mall parking lot which was inconvenient because you didn’t have come and go freedom The room was smaller that what it looked like in the pictures, and is not soundproof..you could hear people in the hallway and all the vehicles passing outside. The mattress was horrible and you could feel every spring . The washroom, shower is a nice size, but the toilet is jammed behind the door ! To top it all off we were evacuated do to a fire alarm!!

Had a great stay. When I checked in my room, it wasn’t made so I went back to reception and the did a complimentary room upgrade. The TV is a bit out dated and you can’t seem to cast your device. So those 2 factors make it a 4/5.

Pros: great location near Rideau street / Byward market, amenities in the room were comfortable and i loved that they had robes and slippers. There were no major noise issues. Room was decently clean (no complaints) Cons: Parking situation terrible. Contrary to the parking information about this hotel on Expedia, pre-arrival messages from the hotel via expedia and on the hotel website, when we arrived we were told that there no parking at this hotel (ongoing construction). They told us we'd have to pay for parking at the mall across the street, which had no in/out privelleges and would be $20 or so every time we wanted to leave and re-enter. We complained to the manager and then eventually they allowed us to access the hotel parking- which made us wonder why they said it was not available in the first place...

Property selected because hot tub and parking advertised. No hot tub or parking available. Hotel staff appeared confused about advertised amenities. Hotel staff refused to cancel reservation without "hearing from" Expedia. Expedia unresponsive. Trapped for three days in small dark room with view of wall of next building. Overall experience unpleasant, unsatisfactory.

The hotel was on the whole okay.The hotel is located near the Byward Market which used to be a great location to shop and go out to eat. Things have changed recently and there are problems with drug addiction, crime and homelessness which make one feel unsafe, especially at night.

Good location heart of city. Poor management first night check in our room was dirty remove comforter and there is a dirty sock on bed and the sheets had brown stains on sheets. Had to go back down to front desk the person was not surprised of this just gave us another room without checking new room was good. We went to have a swim and whirlpool was not working sign temporarily closed this was not told to us at check-in.No clean towels only dirty ones. Park in their underground parking. On check out told parking lot might be closed under construction luckly the construction worker let us out. Not my best stay at a hotel that's a 4.3 star rating. Not a helpful front desk.

I have stayed at Novotels around the world and have always appreciated their effort to locate well, make cleanliness a priority, to hire friendly staff and to provide good dining options. My last two experiences at the Novotel Downtown Ottawa have been any thing but good. I would not ever come back without reassurance that change has occurred. During my second last stay, I was placed on a floor where renovations were ongoing while I was trying to work and sleep. My complaint was essentially ignored. This stay's complaint was all about an attempt to order a coffee and toast in the morning because I was in a hurry and because I am a senior and have experienced the health dangers associated with buffets, I just avoid them. The waitress, who advised me of the the buffet cost as I entered the restaurant, then berated me for not knowing about the Novotel policy which only allows for you to order the buffet or hit the road. She, rather impolitely, questioned if I had ever stayed at the Novotel Downtown before because I was not aware of the buffet only policy. You are entitled to make your own business decisions and to train your own staff. There are too many options for any one to accept such deficiencies.

Great experience at the Novotel. Walking distance from Byward Market, Rideau shopping center and restaurants. Service was great, available in English and French. We really enjoyed our stay.

there was leftover food in the fridge in the room. the parking garage and entrance to the hotel was impossible to navigate, and the lobby layout created a cluster of queues in the lobby to the elevator, check in, taxi/cars, etc... very hard to navigate w sensory overload for humans and dogs

Staff was very courteous. Daily room housekeeping did a very thorough job. Unfortunately, their beds need a serious upgrade- bed size was very small, and the beds were not very comfortable.

I booked the renovated room and the room was nice. The pillow not too comfortable but ok. Upon arrival, the front desk was not that welcoming. The next day at breakfast, I had a terrible experience. We were not treated nicely. I mostly did not enjoy my breakfast. She was asking me if I was done whereas I was still eating. The chef was really nice. He even proposed pancake for my daughter.
