I get down to Salem at least once a month. This was my first time staying at the Shilo Inn and I will never stay there again. The people in the room above me were so loud that I got less than 2 hours of sleep. I even called the front desk and they told them to be quiet but they ended up getting louder and I had to call again. They said that if they were staying another night, they would have them switch rooms. The next day, I went out all day and when I got back they said that they couldn't get a hold of them. They wouldn't answer the door or answer the phone even though I could hear them up there from my room. I had to pack up all my stuff and switch rooms which was a huge inconvenience. Then when I asked for a slight discount, the guy at the front desk laughed and said I don't think so. Like I said, I would never waste my money and stay here again. I would have been better off sleeping in my car than at this place.

The lobby is in sad shape and it smells terribly. The front desk clerk was either poorly trained or just incompetent. I reserved a room with 2 queen beds and was given a room with one king bed. The room did not smell as bad as the lobby but it was not good. I would not call the room clean I wiped everything down and there was a thick layer of dust all over. We did not shower the tub and shower were bad and there was what appeared to be mold it bathroom.

Clean bathroom, hot water and good pressure, nice comfortable bed, full TV channels, nice amenities with shampoo, a fantastic price and top notch service. Very satisfied and will definitely stay again!!!

Its an older, run-down hotel that is overdue for a facelift. The walls in the hall have peelingg walpaper and water damage and cupboards in the roop were falling off the hinges. Our door was gaped at the top and i shoved a towel in the 3/4" gap so as to protect privacy and prevent a coat hanger being inserted to open the door from the outside. But the room was clean.

They came into my room while I was getting lunch with my family, I came back to my room with my door all the way open and all of my stuff missing, when I confronted staff about it they said we thought you checked out, we booked for 3 days. No one had a real reason why but all they said was thank god nothing expensive was missing… they comped me a night stay but we have to take all our belongings with us when we go anywhere.

It’s not like I’m the pictures at all it’s definitely a little run down. The beds were awful my back and neck hurt so bad so much so it would’ve been more comfortable sleeping on the floor. I could feel the springs and everything. Sadly the room smelled a little of smoke as well. The staff were nice and the room overall wasn’t bad but the beds are just not great.

I reserved this place for my brother coming out the hospital in recovery and they were very patient with him and I appreciate the kind things he said about the people that work there. Thank you

People that work there are friendly but the hotel is old, beds are hard as a rock and the swimming area is ridiculous...dirty, locked up areas, moldy ceiling. Cant add photos i took, wont let me for some reason

There were a lot of homeless in area, it was old & kinda run down. There were 3 of us & they left 1 towel, 2 hand towels & 3 wash clothes. Also now bath mat. Had a King & a pull out sofa with 4 pillows that were not comfortable. Not the worst experience but definitely wish we had stayed elsewhere.

Do not recommend!! This old run down hotel was dirty, has an elevator that barely works and the stairs can only be accessed if an employee has time to let you in which they get very annoyed about. We had 1 towel to share between 5 of us bc they said they had no cleans ones left. Pool was disgusting, beds are hard, and service was horrible. Do not stay here!!!

First, the room was advertised as one king and one full size bed and a junior suite. The room had a king size and pull out sofa bed. Which when pulled out was stained, had objects in the bed, no blankets or sheets were provided but the yellow pee stains were the worst. The mini fridge had food in it. There were burn marks on all the tables and sticky gum like stains on the floor. The shower was gross and rusted. The elevator had a line to use and the stairway was locked. They only had one employee who upon my arrival, cussed when i asked to check in. When i complained about my room said she authorize a refund. Apparently, she wasn't authorized to do so and i was denied. I trusted the Shilo name but i have better rooms at a motel 6. Never again will i stay at a Shilo and strongly suggest no one ever stays here unless you done plan on staying the whole night.

Nothing is open as far as amenities. The pool is open but it is surrounded by construction and is not what we expected. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly.

The staff was very welcoming. We felt safe and secure. The accommodations were comfortable and relaxing. We will be visiting this location when were are in the area and need a place to stay.

Elevator was not usable. Many had to be led to exterior stars by mgr key. Fridge was broken so dinner went bad.

The room was clean enough but found an old gum wrapper on the floor at the foot of the bed. Terribly slow elevator and no stairs they provide access to the rooms

Quiet, comfortable room. We are from out of town and the staff was helpful navigating us around the area finding things to do.

First complaint about this property is that it's really hard to find. Even though it is just off the main street, there are no signs or markings indicating what it is! It doesn't really look like the pictures shown here - there is no sign on top of the building. Once we chased around trying to find it, it was ok for the price. There are hurricane fences around the back of the property. It felt like a very sketchy area - we noticed a bunch of homeless people and drug peddlers close by. There is no food service or breakfast available nearby. The rooms were clean enough and beds comfortable, and TV worked, and shower was hot if you let it run a long time. The desk people were friendly enough, but didn't seem like they enjoyed working there. I don't think we would stay there again.

Whenever I come to town to visit family I stay here. They have been in the process of renovating , but it never seemed to get in the way of an excellent stay. Room was spacious, the staff is friendly.

The staff and especially Callie was AMAZING!!! We had loud people above us and Callie found us a top floor room within seconds! Very professional and accommodating! Room is spacious and great amenities but needs new tub, flooring, curtains, etc.. Breakfast was delicious and kind service! Nice lobby! Comfy beds!!! TY! :)
