Lovely hotel within walking distance of the old town. The staff are excellent and super helpful. I used the spa one afternoon and had it to myself. We had a room with a view of the river. Highly recommend if staying in Takayama.

the staff are all very nice and helpful. the breakfast is nice and the location closes to the “old street”. I like the vibes here.
but the onsen is not small. if you eager for having a great onsen, it may be fulfill your expectation.

The hotel service was very fine. Staffs are very friendly. Hotel restaurant was very good the Japanese style breakfast was excellent. The room is a bit small but it was clean and convenient to upstairs hot spring. Location is good. Hotel shuttle bus made our stay much easier. Thanks to all the hard work.

Staff were super nice and friendly, the hospitality were amazing. Food and room were nice. Onsen for men were comfortable but somehow there were bleach smell from the outdoor onsen pool.

The traditional accommodation, the friendly attentive staff. We loved it all..the kaiseki dinner, the Japanese style western breakfast and the views around the ryokan were stunning.

Everything was superb, staff were nice, the meals were lovely, the only thing that disappointed me a bit was there is no outdoor hot spring for ladies and I didn’t know that when I booked (probably I didn’t read the details properly)

Very good services. However , the Japanese breakfast can be improved.

Excellence location!
The service at this hotel is very good, very friendly and approachable staffs! My child is below 3 so there was no additional charge for meals, but they prepared very scrumptious dinner & breakfast for her!
Will definitely stay at this hotel again if I visit takayama!

Our stay at this ryokan did not disappoint! It was a special experience from the beginning to the end. The service is excellent and the location is ideal. We enjoyed the keiseki and Hida beef dinners and the interesting Japanese breakfasts.

Japanese hospitality at its best. Amazing service!

Incredible location right on the river and near the historical areas. Most attentive service you'll ever get from hotel staff. Authentic Japanese inn experience.

Incredible experience. When arriving at the hotel, a hotel employee was already waiting for us outside (I guess he was waiting for guests all afternoon). Check in was very smooth and friendly. The rooms were very comfortable. We booked the dining option and the food was excellent! At night we visited the onsen on the top floor of the hotel. Great experience except for the couple of tourists who unfortunately refused to obey hotel rules and wore swimwear and didn't shower before entering the onsen. The location is great, only a couple of minutes walk to Sanmachi Suji and about 10-15 minute walk to the train station.

Great stay in this modern ryokan. Room was not big but ok for 4. Great onsen, nice kaseiki diner with Hida beef in the room. Staff is amazing.

The location is good. Unfortunately we dun have time to try the onsen. That night we saw a cockcroach inside our room, but we thought it's due to the unlock door and heavy rain outside. But overall staff was nice and good was good . But it would be great if renovation could be done as it is abit old though clean

Overall I like this onsen ryokan:
1) Location - perfect for tourists strolling around the Takayama town (also convenient for senior old aged parents or grandparents as the ryokan location is inside the town)
2) Very clean, tidy throughout all the areas such as lobby, rooms, onsen
3) Onsen - since the ryokan is located in the town, do not expect there is an outdoor onsen with natural stones and trees. However, there is a semi-outdoor (quite decent size with wooden made) onsen but only for men
4) Food is fresh and good, but do not expect luxury types. Hidi beef at the dinner - portion is not large and quality ok, not top quality.

It was our first visit to a ryokan and it lived up to our expectations. Helen took good care of us showing us the rituals. The meals were fabulous and the location on a quiet street overlooking the river was wonderful.

Service and food are ok, could improve the facilities

The hotel is conveniently located and very clean. The staff are particularly polite and speak good English. They go an extra mile to help us solve problems. We took the bus from Nagoya to Takayama but had left a bag on the bus. We discovered that upon arrival at the hotel and asked the staff to see if it is possible for us to go back to the bus terminal to get it, probably at the lost and found area. They are so kind as to help us call the bus company to locate the bag, and even help us get it back. I didn't expect this kind of extra service. They are really customer-centric and most helpful, and I am most grateful to them.
The dinner was great too. We enjoyed the hot spring after dinner. The area is clean and comfortable. We had an enjoyable stay in the hotel and will definitely recommend it to our friends.

I am very pleased with my stay here. The hotel is 10-15 minutes walk from the station but the hotel would send a pickup if you request at least a day before. The staffs are very welcoming attentive. The hotel lobby is nicely decorated and the room view is superb. Dinner is served in the room and food was amazing. There are two selections of onsens for each gender. They helped prepared a cake for my celebration and was kind to give me a gift! The hotel is located at the Nakahashi bridge and is very near to the old streets. The Takayama Jinya is just across the street. There is a duty free souvenir shop in the hotel which is very convenient. I highly recommend this hotel.

Wonderful staff who welcomed us and sorted things out during our stay. Loved that fact that there was another option for dinner the second night after we had experienced the kaiseiki meal on the first.
