The hotel is nice, clean and the service is amazing. The staff is friendly and professional. We were treated amazing from the moment we arrived until the very last interaction. The hotel definitely needs some updating and the food was okay. I wish there was more variety. The Mexico show is 5 ⭐️

It’s true that the resort looks worn and could do with a makeover. After reading the reviews we expected that and had no issue. Staff are great, food is good to excellent (only had one below average meal which was at the Italian. We ate at Madremia twice it was so good, and the coffee shop was excellent ). Downsides are there isn’t enough seating throughout the resort to find a place to just chill. Pool and beachside seating gets claimed early in the day and there isn’t enough of it, though that didnt bother us. However they have a huge veranda which is unused. Fill it with comfortable seating and put sails up for shade and you’d have a perfect area! Beach is very small but the public beach which is walking distance south is beautiful. We found this a good place to stay for five nights to explore the area. Wouldn’t want to stay longer. We did spend a day at the Cozumel resort which was a nicer place to chill by the sea, and do some good snorkelling, but is similarly small. We transferred here from the Majestic Elegance in Costa Mujeres which was much more indulgent and beach friendly, but also remote. So we think we did the best of both worlds.

This resort is nice but catered mostly to members that bought into the resort weeks. So unless you get up around 6 am to get a beach or pool chair you won’t get one. Also they didn’t allow us to use our resort credits as promised and were charged for them instead.

The location was great, a one block walk to the mall and 5 th avenue. The beach and the water were beautiful although high tide kept us off it often. The food was great, restaurants booked up early though so we didn’t try them all.

The best place to eat is Momo the waiter Jhonatan was amazing. We had great time and great dinner .

Staff was polite, friendly, seemed genuinely interested in their work.

Staff, especially housekeeping, servers, and bartenders were all very friendly, helpful and attentive. Accommodations were adequate. Location is close to la Quinta Avenida, the main strip in downtown playa del carmen; however, the rest of the area is very ghetto. Unfortunately, the food and beverages at this resort were terrible, so I cannot recommend.

The staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating.
The food was just okay. Limited restaurants.
They didn't publicize activities. You had to go ask each day what was going on. And so things were missed.

We enjoyed our stay here! Some things that may help others decide. FYI -- we were active, planned our own daily excursions.
Location: loved that this was easy was RIGHT by 5th st
Food: just 'ok' -- typical of all inclusives. You are not allowed to order food from the poolside which was disappointing. You have to walk to the pool snack bar.
Pool: Pool chairs, esp under an umbrella, are a HOT item. People get up early and save them first thing in the morning. There are a set of chairs that are reserved for diamond members but mid-day if said diamond members don't show up, they become available.
Beach :There really is not a good beach to lay out/play on. It is just really narrow, not aesthetically pleasing to sit out on. There is a public beach on the other side of the pier but you can't access it w/o going through 5th street area. (The Ferry Pier is there and you can't walk through) I believe that is the only nearby place to rent snorkel stuff.
Staff: The hotel staff are so friendly. But there is hard try at the beginning to try to get you to do the 90 min sales pitch AND all the excursions. I somehow had a bunch of VIP 'dollar's to spend but they had a lot of rules about how I could use them. (ex -- only up to $100 on spa)
Spa -- sauna/steam room separate for men/women
Programs: There were some activities going on the evenings. We watched part of one and it was pretty mediocre. I would have been bored if we ONLY hung out there.

We loved the views of the resort, all of the staff was super friendly! We took advantage of the spa, which was an amazing experience, along with the access to the sister resort in Cozumel! I would definitely stay here again!

The buffet was average , like the location ,. The floors are very unsafe when wet .

I loved the central location yet still relaxing atmosphere at Playacar Palace. The cafe was a favourite and we enjoyed visiting the Cozumel Palace for the day where same privileges applied. Dining options were good and provided enough opportunity for variety across our week stay. One criticism is the cool temperature of the rooms which persists even when the aircon is turned off - apparently a fan is constantly on the reduce humidity build up in the rooms. The beach, although rough, was preferred by our children (12 and 9) but we ended each day in the pool and spa watching the sun go down- really idyllic! All in all, a great stay.

Pros - close to 5th Ave shopping, close to ferry to Cozumel, good restaurants with good service in them, good pool service, available reservations for dinner, front desk staff good, cleaning crew great
Cons - no beach-just pool, not a fan of the process after check-in where they try and pressure you to sit down with them and talk about the resort, credits and setting an appointment for them to sell you on time-share weeks-especially after a long day of travel, morning buffet service is terrible if you want to drink anything other than coffee and then they give it to you once and you never see them again, don't ask for anything else, because you won't get it, check-out process comes with the hard sell to come back again for a promotional offer.

Playacar palace resort property is a pretty small property. It has 4 restaurants and 2 cafes but very limited options for vegetarian. Food was good but menu items were repetitive on multiple days, so after spending 3-4 days you feel like there is nothing new that you can try. Pool closes at 7pm and there is nothing to do in the resort post 7pm. Staff were friendly and quite cooperative. Property is clean. Good point is that it’s location is pretty good and located next to the local market which is one of the good option to explore post 7pm.

This resort was at a convinient location near Playa de Carmen shopping district. It was smaller in size than most of all inclusive resorts but had good staff and service. There were not many options/activities after 7 pm apart from live music in lobby and one 30 min show on weekday nights. Pool area were also closed after 7 pm. But the resort had good ocean views and had courteous staff.

Service and staff were incredible and helpful. Food was amazing, especially the desserts! The restaurants were excellent and far better than many all inclusive i have stayed at. There was never any problem getting into the buffet. The adult only Mexican dinner was the only meal I didn’t like. The rooms were good and beds comfortable. Small balcony. Location was right in playa so easy to go into town and get street food and shopping. Very busy town! Endless streets of places to go. Only downside to this resort is the beach- the hotel is beside the ferry so beach only goes to the one side, no beach chairs or umbrellas on the beach, locals all use as public beach and it is blacked with very little walking area. For the price of this trip and location we were okay with not having the instagram beach although I would have liked a quite spot on beach. The pool area was ok. Need to get up early to get good seats reserved and pool is not that big. I liked that like resort felt smaller- I hate having to walk forever to get to room it was easy to get around quick here. Coffee shop and former cocktails were outstanding.

Staff were kind and friendly! However, when multiple family members got GI problems from food and water the management ignored us and did nothing to make amends. We were also unable to secure a rollaway bed for our entire 6-day stay.

This is a fabulous place to stay. The service, food, cleanliness, beauty and friendliness of the staff is excellent. The people go out of their way to make your stay the best. Many convenient and delicious dining options, Our entire family had the best time… something for everyone!

Pretty hotel, great food and service, but no beach and not much to do otherwise. Plus incredibly noisy since they hold events in the lobby or courtyard each night and it is very hard to sleep.

Friendly, fun and relaxing. The resort is in a great location with easy walking to town. The food was excellent. The buffet had numerous choices each day and the onsite restaurants were great (we were easily able to make reservations after we checked in). There aren’t a ton of amenities but enough to keep us busy and happy during our stay. The staff were exceptional - very friendly and eager to help in every way.

The check in with Manuel was absolutely amazing, very welcoming and kind. The food was definitely 10/10 in every restaurant and the waiters wore extremely helpful and very lovely. The staff treated everyone with a kind and loving manner even to guess that definitely did not deserve it. The entertaining staff made the games and day fun and exiting special Eric!! Going to playacar palace was our firt vacation trip and i hotta say it was amazing 10/10 definitely recommend going here

The location was good if you wanted to go into Playa, Del Carmen and take the ferry to Cozumel or shop. The resort is very small and did not have a sports bar or place to hang out after dinner other than just a lobby bar. You have to make reservations for the à la cart restaurant on the app And you have to do that early in the morning or the reservations fill up and you have to eat at the buffet for dinner, which is very limited on food choices. The worst part about the resort were the timeshare people who were constantly hounding you to sell you timeshares Even following you to the pool and restaurants. It was so annoying and they would not take no for an answer. I am on vacation to relax and enjoy myself, not be constantly followed and bothered by someone trying to sell me something. Even after I checked out a salesman followed me to my transportation van still sales pitching “memberships”. They were relentless! Never again will I ever stay at any Palace property.

By booking through Expedia you get tagged with a different color wristband than everyone else at the resort, and it seems like you get worse service…Check in was not pleasant as the employee was not friendly or informative and we were not welcome with any sort of drink or amenities, Pool attendants didn’t help us get chairs set up, mini bar wasn’t restocked daily, staff was not super friendly or helpful, rooms are average, too few bathrooms around the pool (which usually needed cleaning), food is average, pool activities are constant so there is a lot of noise and commotion around the pool. The resort needs more seating areas that people can relax and hang out together in the evening. No food allowed by the pool. This hotel is not as nice as the rating reflects. Much room for improvement. It was a disappointing vacation. We will not be back

The property has no sand beach although the pictures show sand beach with beach chairs. During the 4 nights stay none of the pool showers were functional. Windows panels throughout the common areas were dirty. Pool overcrowded and hard to find a beach chair. Almost impossible to book a restaurant for dinner. Guest service is useless, they ask you to book everything through their app. Redeeming resort credits limited and complicated.

Absolutely fantastic! Best vacation ever, so beautiful and ocean so warm. The hotel was great and the staff was so friendly. First time at an all inclusive and it was a great experience. Erik took us on a bike ride in the morning and was a great tour guide. Had a massage from Virginia that was excellent. We loved the dinners! And went to sister hotel on Cozumel and enjoyed a dinner there after snorkeling. A

We came one night and there was a leak in the ceiling from somebody sitting in a Jacuzzi above and that leaked into our closthes and the unclean water went in to one of my shirts and they took it for cleaning and they ruined it. My shirts was $574 and they would not admit that this was their fault and they only reimbursed me the taxi to another hotel. They were not professional with dealing with this issue.
