The hotel dates back to 1859, so the rooms are small but very comfortable with lots of character and, of course, upgraded. Great location in the middle of the old gold-mining town of Jamestown, within walking distance to eateries if you choose not to eat at the hotel restaurant. Staff were outstanding, so helpful.

Historical building. Bottled water in room. Clean room.
Comfortable bed
Our bedding although clean was very old and puckered in many places which we all found very irritating considering the price we paid.
The ice and water served in the bar and restaurant was foul, I am sure it was taken from a spring, as happens in the countryside ….it’s ok to shower in(it even smelt there) but not pleasant to drink at all.

The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff pleasant and helpful. The restaurant had great service and delicious food. The new management has done a lot to make the National a great place to stay.

Historic Hotel very nicely renovated. Restaurant & bar on site was very good with nice outdoor seating available. Bathrobes, private bathroom, soaking tub, quaint view deck, quiet and right in downtown. Fun place!

Gorgeous property and comfortable room & bed. Delicious food and extremely helpful and friendly staff. Lovely patio for drinks and food. Dog-friendly and tons of cute finds in the nearby vintage stores
Honestly not a thing I could ding this place on. Looking forward to making it an annual stop on the way to Yosemite!

The room and service was absolutely amazing. Our room service gal Cheryl was the best.

We loved the hotels charm and history.
The restaurant was over priced for what you got (dinner). Lunch was a total miss since the waitress lost our order.

Lovely historical interior, but ....
When booking room at this hotel, be aware that about half of rooms do not have windows! Well - there is a window, but ca half meter from neighboring house wall, so ... So book a room at the "right side of the corridor". The ventilation made terrible noise - from downstairs kitchen and neighbor bathroom (not just a little buzz but like a tractor in a room).

A classic old hotel nicely upgraded.
Beds a bit soft...no screens to allow open bedroom windows without bugs.

The property was like stepping back in time. The host Heather was wonderful. I loved her so much.
The hotel definitely had a few segments of entertainment through the late night and early morning. Boy did our friend Flo like the rattle of the door knobs and opening door possibly just to check in on the new comers when one would leave the room. The stairs had a mysterious walker at night.
The room was beautiful and the bathroom was wonderful and neat with a great shower.
The coffee in the am was not good. I hoped that a hotel that has guests up late checking out the resident of the hotel would serve dark roast or something decent but that’s it. Fruit and yogurt served in am as well.
When we checked out idk of it was because it was early or if it was because we were dressed casual to go gold panning but I met another host that name was unknown but felt a bit judged and that she didn’t really want to speak to me upon checking out. But again maybe it was just early she maybe be lovely later idk.
I absolutely want to come back and stay again it was a wonderful time.
